How to properly wash & protect your RV from damaging UV sun rays which are brutal to RV's & keep it looking new.
The last 2 to 3 years we have finally figured out what the right RV washing tools & products we need to keep our RV Motorhome looking it’s best and protect it from UV rays. We have finally got the right gear, & have honed our RV washing skills to do a full wash & detail in one day & the Motorhome is good for 6 months. This system we use is 10x better than what you’ll pay a RV camp ground wash crew to do and it will be done right. I'm also going to share with you a great power tip on how I now longer use wax, but introduce you to a product that is way better than wax and is easy to apply. I use this product every 6 months when I do my full wash and detailing. Our Motorhome is going on 11 years old NOW & everyone that stops by to chat with us thinks its nearly brand new.

My wife and I are truly saddened to hear of Martin's passing. Our hearts go out to you, Joanie, your family and all of the RV family that have become subscribers to your fabulous channel. As we are just getting into RVing ourselves and have yet to even purchase one, we have been planning for the past year. When we came across RV Street (w/ Martin and Joanie), we became hooked and watched at least one video each night ... more often a bunch. Martin's patience and method of instruction intrigued us to watch, learn new ideas and purchase items for what we will eventually need. Shocked to hear the news that our beloved mentor has passed, for us, he will live forever in our new and future life long adventure and we'll continue to watch all the videos the both of you have created. Thank you !! .... R.I.P. Martin

Really good to know that there is a solution these days to UV damage. Wish the previous owners of my Class A had known this. I think I'm going to have to repaint the entire fiberglass RV and then use your techniques from there. Mine is 23 years old or more, and all the finish is worn off, and the fiberglass is rough and damaged, worse on one side than the other.

RVstreet Thank you! It’s an old Class A - 1995 Coachmen Santara QB280. 113K miles. Needs brakes (rebuild rusty lines and send off the hydro boost? to be rebuilt) and a few odds and ends that you might expect with a 25yr old vehicle. Exterior needs a little love, too, and this video (and your exterior decal work) helped us see what is possible. We bought her in Tampa and drove to Columbia SC with zero issues - engine tranny & AC are solid! In “dry dock” now in our driveway to repair and reconfigure into something that works better for us.

I am a new owner of a class A and I am so lost how to clean and remove oxidation. I watched all your videos and looked up all the cleaning products you mentioned in your video. I learned so much here and your videos are just like text books!! Thank you!
@RVstreet
@RVstreet 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for those words 🔧 👍 Start small first. Like on the back. That will give you an area to get into the rhythm. Compounding to remove oxidation takes time. As you compound the pads will load up with material, so as you remove it constantly by keeping cleaning them. If you have heavy oxidation, you'll have to use the wool pad and the diamond cut compound, otherwise use the other material and my red pads. Once oxidation is off, then polish. It probably will take 2 or 3 passes to restore the shine. Don't do it in the sun. An overcast sky is the best to polish and apply RejeX as your final coat. Again keep your pads clean, keep wiping off the polish off the RV each time you make a pass. Do small areas at a time. It's also better and goes faster if you have several pads. Just be patient, be methodical and it'll come out nice. You can do this.

Beautiful!!! I just did mine for the first time since buying him May 22, 2020 and just getting the bugs off the front took me at least an hour! I’m going to buy some of that Rejex stuff...I’m assume it’s in the link and in your store...I will probably grab that wash also. I want to protect George the best that I can and I know that bugs and bird crap is terrible for the paint! I got some new tires on him today so things are coming together! Thanks for all your info, it truly is a HUGE help!
@RVstreet
@RVstreet 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's important when you land somewhere after driving a long distance to get those bugs off the front of the coach ASAP. If left there and they bake in....it can hurt the paint and really make them hard to get off. Applying RejeX makes this task a whole easier.

Really appreciate the attention to detail Martin. I purchased the soap cannon, telescopic pole, soap, soft brush this week and cleaned our Class C yesterday. All of the products are as you’ve described - they work very well, especially love the soap cannon!. It’s been too sunny and hot here near Conroe TX (96 yesterday ) , for me to apply the Rejex ( I need to order the Meguiars polisher as well). I’d be remiss if I didn’t compliment Joanie on the camera work! Love all your videos , and keep up the good work!
@RVstreet
@RVstreet 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Keith. What you can do is hit it with RejeX early in the morning. Do 1/2 of the coach one morning and the other 1/2 the next. We lived in Houston, Texas the past 30 years so I know what you mean about the heat/humidity. That's why I got into a regiment of doing this full detail late in the fall and then again in late spring before we get on the road again. It's cooler in those times. BTW...Thousand Trails in Willis/Conroe is our home park.

@@RVstreet Martin, as a follow up , I bought the Meguiars polisher and Rejex and both are awesome products! I took your advice and did the Rejex job in two mornings to avoid the sun/ heat. My RV looks new and could not be happier. I didn’t realize the 6” polisher backing plate wasn’t included when I ordered the polisher , but found one that fits and works well ( Harbor Freight) ...got me out of a pinch. One thing you need to know and add to one of your videos is my brother-in-law owns and drives a 18 wheeler for 40 years and he said when you get new tires for your RV have them put a quart of antifreeze in each tire, it balances the tire, soon you reach like 40 miles per hour. This the best thing I have ever done. I owned a motor home for the last 21 years. (Francis)

@@RVstreet Hi Martin, I purchased the pressure washer from your list and washed my RV Saturday. The problem I encountered is that the soap did not come out fanned like in your video. I am not able to attach the soap canister to the extended wand; it has to be attached directly to the gun. This configuration does not allow for the spray to shoot very far nor, as I mentioned, fanned. Is there an accessory piece that I need to purchase that doesn't come with the unit?

@@jeanettejeffrey3896 You probably are using that useless plastic bottle that comes with the power washer. I don't know why they even include that thing. In order to get the nice fanning soap spray that you saw in the video, you have to buy the soap canon that I use. I put the link for that right under the power washer. So go back to the video, to the description text, and you'll see the link for that there. Pls follow up once you receive that and give me a report. I've had several people comment in the past that this set up worked just like the video showed. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bbGdmtGWuZmsgKc.html

@@RVstreet Yes, the useless plastic bottle is exactly what I used. Somehow I missed the soap cannon when I was purchasing most everything else off your list. I just ordered it and look forward to putting it to use. Today I'll be programming and installing the EszTire E518 System on my RV, also purchased through your listing on your video regarding monitoring tire pressure. Last weekend I was going to take my RV on its maiden voyage only to have the tire pressure monitoring system flash a warning symbol on my dashboard 20 minutes from home. Unfortunately, the OEM system doesn't give the exact location of the tire in question. After pulling off the highway to hit a gas station and check my tire pressure and top off with air, the system still indicated a warning light. I read on a Trend forum that faulty tire pressure system sensors are an issue but I really don't want to take a chance, hence the purchase of the monitoring system. It will give me peace of mind being able to monitor my tires during the ride. Thanks again for all the education you provide.

@@jeanettejeffrey3896 Ok good I'm glad you got the canon. As far as the TPMS make sure your high and low pressure alarms are set properly. So for example, let's say your tire pressure-according to your weight-should be 85psi. Your high alarm should be set around 102-105 because your tires will heat up as you move down the road and tire pressure will build up. If your high pressure alarms are set to low as your tires warm up the alarm will go off. Your low pressure alarm should be set at 82psi. That way if you start to low any air in any tire it will only lose 3lbs. before you are alerted and then you can investigate why your losing air. Having low pressure in tires is where bad things happen. That's really the most important alarm you want to be watching.

Our Motorhome hasn't been washed since last summer, was covered up all winter, but still dirty. The wash and Cannon was so easy to use and made the job so much easier. Cleaned the Black Streaks off almost as well as if I had used just my "elbow grease" and a sponge. Thanks for sharing your method of cleaning your RV and for providing the links to each item. The ONLY way is to polish them out. That's why I explained in the video to wash and dry as you go along. My variable speed polisher, my pads and polish that I showed you in the video is the only way to get them out. One of those cheap orbital polishers won't cut it for a job like a RV. Once you get all the water spots out, and have now restored a beautiful shine to your RV, use a light coat of RejeX like I showed in the video twice a year and your RV will look like new. Everything I use to keep our coach looking nice throughout the year is in the description text of that video. Hello Martin and Joanie! This is such an informative video, I came back for another viewing. Plus, up here in Ouray, CO, it was still the dead of winter when I watched this 2 months ago. We are just on the cusp of the mostly freezing temperatures at night to start fading (though, Memorial day is when you should hold of for planting). A few questions....and I would like you to review my summary for accuracy: 1) My travel trailer is 4 months old (the fiberglass should be finished repaired from that snow plow strike in about a week!). And, our 2 toyotas are 3 yrs old with not having been waxed. And, our F350 is 9 months old. I assume, all of these vehicles and trailers could use a complete (foam soap and rinse, polish, and a rejex wax) works? 2) The process, as I understood it from you: a) foam canon a section, wipe with the soft brush, and rinse. b) on sections that still appear to have streaks, spots, or feel roughness on the surface, etc, do the polish with the polisher c) then do a coat, maybe 2 (initially), of the rejex d) do this complete washing twice per year (the other times can be just a maintenance wash) Whenever you visit Ouray, you'll see we only have like 1 or 2 paved streets in town. On our dirt road is the second most popular tourist site, a water fall. It gets mega dusty! I almost feel our cars would need just a rinsing before we do your wash wax all process for the quick washes. For your black hard plastic trim items, such as your mirrors, coach door handles, etc, do you use the 303 Protectorate......or would you use the rubber seal conditioner that you also use on your rubber items? Also, the ladder that you use, is it 13ft if you unfolded it straight out? Or , with it folded in the a-frame mode, could it articulate up so that it would be 13ft high? I guess what I'm asking, is can you use this ladder to access your roof from the side of your coach? Safe travels!!

I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I bought $530 of equipment and supplies on your site, but I couldn’t afford the Maguieres dual action variable speed polisher so I bought one that had reasonable reviews on Google for $117 - BOCATO brand, and I hope it works as well. I also hope that by searching for it and purchasing it under your umbrella you still get credit for it. My RV has a lot of discoloration and some chalk, though I do try to keep up with it. Since you seem to favor Maguieres to some extent, and it is liked by one or two other KZfaq presenters, I purchased it, but I had to do that on EBAY as Amazon was sold out. Thank you for your clarity. Great job!!

Thank you so much for supporting our channel Augusta. It means a lot. And yes, anything you buy thru our Amazon Store whether it's actually in our store or not we do receive a small commission from each sale. So again thank you for that. FWIW...concerning my polisher, other than the variable speed features it has which you need for different applications, another really BIG deal is it weighs in @ only 5.4 pounds. Weight is really not an issue when your at ground level working on say your car. But when you're polishing an RV you're on a ladder, reaching up a lot, covering a lot of real estate and a heavier polisher will really wear your arms and shoulders out. I don't know what yours weighs but I just wanted you to know why I choose the model I did. So since your RV has chalking going on (aka oxidation) is your plan is to compound, polish and protect?
@augustajustice9779

@@RVstreet Yes, I have decided after studying your video, to wash it as you demonstrate, then use Maguieres Compound One Step in 2x2 foot areas, wipe it with microfiber cloth, then Rejex and buff. I decided on that by amplifying your discussion about what to do with black marks - the marks and chalk just require an increased cutting product than polish. I wouldn’t know how to approach the problem without your instruction. Thank you. Oh, and our messages kind of crossed in the night, so to speak, because I didn’t know you had already noticed that I bought the stuff like I did. I wasn’t trying to make that big of a deal. Thank you for ALL of your videos! I love them. I just purchased my first Class A RV (ok my first RV). It's a 2001 that is dull and has lost is luster and shine. I am excited to try to restore her beauty and follow your RV sticker repair. QUESTION: Do I wait to Rejex polish until I try to restore the sticker graphics? And is the soap going to be what removes the oxidation?
@RVstreet
@RVstreet 2 жыл бұрын
Evelyn, I get this question a lot about the DULL look and has lost it's luster. It's called oxidation. Once oxidation has been removed, then you polish, then you apply RejeX for the final protective coat. *Here's the process and a few tips I tell people to do to remove oxidation* The light weight Meguirs MT300 Dual Action-5.4lbs. is an awesome machine. Be sure to buy the back plate too. It's sold separately. It's the exact unit I used to remove the oxidation that my coach had when I first bought it in 2016. Having the right polisher is important. My coach at the time had heavy oxidation on the drivers side and back with light to medium oxidation on the other areas. My large slide on the drivers side was the worse so I had to use the wool pad and diamond cut compound on that area. I didn't have a YT Channel at the time, so I don't have a video on it. But I wish I did. I've actually been looking for an RV that has some oxidation so I can do a video on the process in a camp ground. But I haven't had any owners willing to cooperate with me. But I use the MT300 for everything to keep our RV maintained. If you have oxidation, once oxidation is removed, don't ever let it oxidize again. That way you won't have to go thru this process again. If need be like you saw in my polishing video, if an area needs a little polishing, polish it then apply RejeX. My secret to keeping it maintained and shiny is using RejeX for my final coat because RejeX blocks the UV rays from the sun and that's what causes oxidation. For compounding start small first. Like on the back. That will give you an area to get into the rhythm. I used a 12' rolling scaffold so I could stand up straight and do the top half of the coach. The bottom half is much easier to do than the top. Compounding to remove oxidation takes time. As you compound, the pads will load up with material from the RV, so you have to constantly remove it, by keeping them clean, washing them out with water-warm water is best-in a bucket and a small hand held brush wring them out, put them back on the MT300 and continue. OR if you really want to make it easy to clean them and go fast get my Adams Car wash bucket to keep your pads clean. If you have heavy oxidation, you'll probably have to use the wool pad and the diamond cut compound, otherwise use the other compound material in the blue bottle in my store and my red pads. Once oxidation is off, THEN polish with my Meguiar's Ultimate Polish also with the red pads. It probably will take 2 or 3 passes to restore the shine. Don't do it in the sun. An overcast sky or inside under cover is the best to polish and apply RejeX-or wax if you prefer that instead-as your final coat. Again, keep your pads clean *AND DRY* when applying polish, keep wiping off the polish off the RV each time you make a pass with a microfiber cloth. Do small areas at a time. It's also better and goes faster if you have several pads. Just be patient, be methodical and it'll come out nice. You can do this 👍 Everything I use is in my Amazon Store www.amazon.com/shop/rvstreet The stuff you’ll need is in the "Compound, Polish, Finish Coat" category. Above each product is a text bubble where I describe what each product is and what I use it for. Here's a link to one of my PLAYLISTS that covers other aspects of how I take care of the outside of my coach. These will be helpful to you also. Especially the first 3 videos: kzfaq.info... I am familiar with Protect All. The problem with Protect All is it doesn't have any UV blockers which is the number one destroyer of RV's. You have to read closely what the label says and "WHAT THE LABEL DOESN'T SAY". Here's what there website says verbatim so you don't think this is my opinion: Protect All is one product that DOES IT ALL: cleans, polishes, waxes, protects and treats all surfaces - front to back, inside and out. It is quick and easy to use and leaves an anti-static, water repellent lustrous shine on hard surfaces, while treating the vinyl, rubber and plastic. No where does it say it "blocks UV rays or has UV blockers. Here's what Rejex website says verbatim: This very thin film, only tenths of a micron thick, reduces adhesion of all common contaminants such as road grime, exhaust, oil, bug splats, bird droppings, brake dust, tree sap, pollen, tar and grease. RejeX also provides exceptional UV protection. It is even effective against the dreaded love bugs! Did you see that? RejeX also provides exceptional UV protection. FACT: 2 coats of RejeX blocks 100% of UV rays....and that's what destroys RV's over time. Over the years I've used many, many different products, waxes, etc and nothing comes close to "protecting" an RV from UV rays like RejeX, That's why I recommended this particular product in my video. I want those that watch our video's get nothing but the best. I just wanted to clarify the facts and differences of these two products. I do want to thank you though from the bottom of my heart for using our links to buy our other recommended tools that we used to detail our RV. And I'm glad that those products delivered the results as I explained and showed everybody in that vidoe. So I'm still sticking to my guns on RejeX. thx Stephen my friend. 😜

Another great video. I really appreciate the specify on brands and techniques. Three questions. First, do you use RejeX on the roof or another product or no product? Second, did you or would you ever buy a paint protection plan from the dealer when you first pick-up your new RV? Third, did you use the On-The-Go softener with the electric power washer or a home soft water spigot?
@RVstreet
@RVstreet 3 жыл бұрын
#1 - No I don't use RejeX on the Roof but stayed tuned because I have my roof video coming out next month I show everything I've done. #2 - No I wouldn't. If you really feel you need that, you find other parties that offer that and extended warranties much cheaper. Just a word of caution on extended warranties...Don't just check what they cover BUT what they DON'T cover. #3 - Sometimes I connect my hose and use the water softener when I wash and sometimes I don't. Depends on where I am, the hardness of the water and the weather. But I've learned to wash and wipe dry as I go. I never want to deal with water spots again. So...eeh it really doesn't matter much. But if I'm in a place where I know it's really hard water there then yes. I hook up my pressure washer hose to my water softener.
