I love talking to old timers like him. Best generation we ever had that new how to work hard without complaint.

"You're tighter than two coats of paint?" "Huh?" "Well we had to be, all we got was the neck of a chicken to eat" That old farmer saw a thing or two in his day.

Steve, don’t press any numbers when you get those calls. They never remove you from the calling list when you press to be removed, it just verifies to them that they have reached a working number and they will bombard you with more calls.

No Taj Mahal there. The Taj Mahal was in yesterday’s video! This piping might be too fancy for your house. I almost pissed myself when you told him that!

24:18 an old plug valve surprised it even turns often the grease inside (to allow the valve to rotate freely and make a gas tight seal) dries out and they lock up solid. The dried up grease can also cause them to leak gas both internally and externally looks like that one was still in decent shape.

Good job Steve, I used to do service and repairs on industrial gas dryers at the local university but the amount of driers we did in a year didn’t warrant the cost of keeping up the gas dryer part of my gas certificates in Scotland the certificates I have costs about £1500 every 5years and you just pick the elements you want to do for example boilers fires cookers gets expensive.
@obesefeline6 жыл бұрын
Steve, excellent job as usual. On the metal piping for the dryer exhaust, I just use the metal tape ( to connect to dryer itself) instead of screws. It works great and no worries of lint collection.

I used to get a lot of those credit card scam calls on my cell phone. I started messing with the off shore callers. Sometimes I got out right nasty when no one was around. I always let them hear that I knew that they were scammers. Touch wood, the calls have lessened.

Probably doesn't believe in banks. That's the depression engrained in him. Not a bad thing to have a little cash squirreled away in a really safe space, but no one should ever keep that much out side of a bank.

Hey Steve I have a question on sweating copper joints......I can sweat hvac joints fantastically but when it comes to residential water copper sweatin but I always seem to have issues with leaks...I know when doing hvac brazing the heat takes care of the dirt and contaminates on the pipe..is the cleaning and flux critical due to the lower temps of the flame.....great work on the videos bud

@madusan16 жыл бұрын
Steve, what is the product name or number on the 3M "steve-approved" tape that you used on the vent? You have me laughing when you put the spam call on speaker phone...! That's why I stopped giving my phone or address info at when asked while checking out... They either send junk mail/calls/email... or of course sell the info to others...

@stevenfreeman68526 жыл бұрын
To Steve, or anybody. I have close to the same setup, except the dryer is electric and a gas water heater sharing a first floor room. Every time the washer runs, sometime during its cycle it knocks out the pilot on the water heater. It starts right up again, but i am unsure why. I assume its something with the thermocouple. Any ideas would be helpful.
@djscrizzle6 жыл бұрын
Water heater needs makeup air, and the dryer pulls enough of it away that the pilot light is starved for air and goes out.
@stevenfreeman68526 жыл бұрын
if thats the case, what can i do to fix it?
@lustfulvengance6 жыл бұрын
Steven Freeman Your going to have to: A. put the drier somewhere else B. install a vent for make up air C. install an electric hot water heater
