That doesn't make sense. Fuses blow to protect equipment, not blow AFTER it breaks. The fuse blowing before the switch would have the same effect as disabling the machine.

I tested my fuse per the video and got continuity, so that's not my problem. Am I correct that when the lid is closed, the large button should be pressed and the small released, then when it's open the small is pressed and the large is released? (i.e. Those are the two clicks I'm listening for.) Same as in the video, I'm hearing both the louder (big button) and softer (small button) clicks. So I think I've got my assembly correct. Any way to tell which switch might have gone bad?

Thank you for this video. I went to Stuff-Mart and bought a box of fuses to replace my blown fuse. This temporarily fixed the problem, until the new fuse blew. I replace the newly blown fuse for yet another temporary fix until the new lid switch comes in.

I've got an old Maytag washer, model # A8420, that won't start after storing it in a storage unit for four years--the storage unit gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter, so something got damaged because of this. When I say the washer won't start, what I mean is that it's a very large brick. It has a turn knob that you pull out to start the washer, but when I pull out the knob nothing happens. No motor humming, nothing. The outlet is fine, I've tested it with a fan, but the washer acts as if it isn't getting power.

There are two screws on the bottom corners of the front panel. Remove those screws and grab the bottom of the panel and swing it towards you. There are two clips at the top that the panel hangs on. Once the front panel is removed there should be two 3/8 screws on the front corners holding the top panel on. Removing those will allow you to lift the lid.

Because he is a repair guy and not a homeowner. If he says he replaced a tiny fuse, the owner will not want to pay him full price for the simple job, so he pads the bill/work to replace the whole switch. This "sounds" better and won't end in a disgruntled owner who could have done it herself. He can even replace the fuse and resell the old switch on the next job. Paying for labour is paying for convenience and experience. If he charged $25 or $50 to replace the fuse, he'd never make a living. Respect the trades, but laugh at some stupid simple jobs (like electricians resetting GFCI outlets)
