This 575-mile route thoroughly explores the Cascade Mountains beginning in Stevenson, WA and making it to the Canadian border at Night Hawk. Views of the massive volcanic mountains from the dense forest in the southern part of the route are stunning and the open arid pine forests of the central part of the route showcase the diversity of Washington. The route just seems to get better each day as you head north and into the high-mountain areas beyond Lake Chelan.
It takes most people about 5-6 days to complete the route and there are some easy alternate sections to get around difficult stretches. There are many great camp spots along the way for those looking to rough it. The route also works well for those looking to stay in hotels or to do a little of both.

Hi! Fellow WA person here. Thank you for this video series on the WA BDR. Its the most comprehensive I have seen of all 6 sections. I've wanted to do this trail system for a couple years now but been hesitant with my F250 (seems too big). With that, I recently inherited my grandpa's '98 Ford Ranger. The plan is to resurrect it with reliability and the capability to run the WA BDR and other similar trails in WA. Thank you for the great info!

Live in Yakima and it’s crazy how Smokey it is from the Schneider spring fire. Glad I got to go up near shoestring lake before the fire.

Just came across you , I live in Puyallup and I'm retired so I plan to mess around on the BDR among other places semi local so it's great to find someone in my area showing me places to go . I'm a transplant from San Diego so I'm not overly familiar with places here in Washington having only been here for 3 years , I bought a 4Runner last year and have been having fun with it when I'm not taking care of my grandkids and I have managed to do some of section 4 on the BDR (I have the Butler map) so far but want to head north from there then do 1-3 later .
