My teachers always thought it a coincidence that I ended up being sick and staying home on the few days every spring when the Senators spring training games were on the air.

The pitching fell apart in 1970 and then Short made a disaster deal with the Tigers for Denny McLain without telling Ted Williams. Williams was furious as his left side of the infield was gone and he also lost starter Joe Coleman. McLain went 10-22 and he and Williams hated each other.

Hard to believe the city of Washington is on its 3rd franchise. Lost a MLB charter franchise to the Twin cities. This team relocated to ArlingtonTexas in 1972.

The Senators had a nice 1969 season for Ted Williams. But Short never spent another penny to improve the team, and when most of the 1969 overachievers regressed in 1970, the Senators regressed right with them. Short had no intention of making the Senators a success in Washington.
