Three-division world champion Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete will defend his WBO junior lightweight world title against former two-division world champion Oscar Valdez in an all-Mexican duel Saturday, August 12 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Navarrete and Valdez seek to etch their names among the celebrated catalog of Mexican rivalries that includes Marco Antonio Barrera-Erik Morales, Ruben Olivares-Chucho Castillo and Rafael Marquez-Israel Vazquez.
Navarrete-Valdez will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

This was legit beef. They hate each other outside the ring too and swung on each other during press conferences. The crown of Mexican boxing was up for grabs after JCC and both of these warriors wanted it.

The Baby-Face Assassin has a very unique style. Just when you think he's to tired to flurry his punches, HERE THEY COME, and it doesn't matter how his feet are set. Talk about DECEPTION. This guy kept Morales guessing in all thlll3 fights. The best I've seen since, Salvador Sanchez, may he R.I.P. , 🇺🇸

Only negative really is that the wrong guy won in the first 2 fights. Because both guys are so durable and can take a great punch they all went the distance so you could argue that Marquez vs Vazquez trilogy had more drama and were less predictable. All three of those fights were stoppages. Still you cannot beat this for talent, quality, effort and intensity.

Why is it when any two Mexicans are about to fight they immediately got to compare it to Barrera-Morales. These guys these days dont have the heart those guys had. Valdez and Nav are not going to bang like this

Atrocious scoring. A blind man could see that Barrera won at least 7 of those rounds. Harold Letterman scored it 8 rounds to 4 Barrera. Then you have the knockdown call in the 12th. I understand that Morales throws a lot of punches his hands are always moving so it is hard to win a decision against him but Barrera clearly landed more big punches and executed his game plan better in fight one.

After watching this trilogy again and again, I think Barrera shoulda won the first fight and Morales should have won the second. The third fight was close but it looked like Morales had the edge and landed more clean shots...

Respect to both fighters but if you know this fighters you know that Barrera was as dirty as they come specially if you’d frustrate him.
