"There is no decanting of Marmite this side of security." That's positively Seinfeldian.

How dare you. THAT is classic British absurdist comedy in the vein of PG Wodehouse, Spike Milligan, Terry Gilliam, Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett! Seinfeldian... I feel I must go and put the kettle on before I do or say something we'll all regret.

We’re Canadian and we buy Marmite at the SuperStore here! I made sure to stock up on it during Covid. We got to know about it via British friends who turned our family on to it. Our children loved it growing up as well! Mind you, my husband’s Dad was Welsh and his Mum was from Newfoundland so perhaps that explains it!
@peterclarke724017 күн бұрын
Have you tried using it as a replacement to stock cubes in cooking? Seriously, give it a go, especially in anything like casseroles or stew.

My parents were from the UK and I grew up in Canada, being fed Marmite. I then gave it to my own children. It is readily available in the area where I live. It was our peanut butter. You need very little, just a smear on bread. A jar lasts a long time.

For the folks out there who don't know, Marmite is one of the few products that has actually spawned a popular phrase. If someone or something is considered "Like Marmite" it means you love it or hate it. No middle ground. People who eat Marmite do not just sort of like it, they love it. Totally agree. Vegimite is actually better. My Aussie mates certainly prefer it over marmite. Though if they can’t get Vegemite, they are grateful for marmite!😄 But my total favourite is bovril. Two reasons, firstly and mainly it makes the most delicious drink that the others can’t do and is really beefy which I prefer to just salty. So it has a more umami flavour, I think. But mostly because it’s actually incredibly good at healing irritable gut. It contains the proteins your gut lining needs that are in bone stock that help to repair leaky gut that results from gluten intolerance which I get.. so it goes really well with a gut friendly diet.
