In 2019, ‪@cityandcolour‬ lost a dear friend, producer and engineer Karl "Horse" Bareham. Then the pandemic hit, and the bandmates were forced to grieve separately. The Love Still Held Me Near is the album that came out of that grief. "I kind of just dove headfirst into this idea that I could help myself by making something beautiful out of pain," said Dallas Green, before performing on the album's April 2023 release day at Vancouver's HippoSonic Recording Studios. "All you really can do is move forward."

Two Coins, one of my favourite songs of all time. Years back working in cocktail bars, it was the inspiration behind one of my most successful drinks. A clarified/clear bloody mary, with a gold leaf wrapped 'coin' of freeze dried tomato pulp that the customer would place in the glass that transformed it to its red colour... 'Just put two coins upon my eyelids, So I can pay the poor man's toll'

I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to see City and Colour in Louisville the other week. I can't even begin to describe how incredible of a singer Dallas is. The audience loved the performance, the energy was there, and people were even shouting that Dallas saved their lives. Everything about the performance exceeded any expectations me and my fiance had going in. The entire band is composed of nothing but performers as they played their setlist beautifully you could truly feel the grief in their songs and how it's carried through as they perform is nothing shy of a miracle. Their live performances are just as good if not better than their studio albums. Please go and support this group if you aren't already. I would love another opportunity to see them again in the future!

So, this is the first time I’ve listened to this band. Hats off to them, what a joy to experience these songs. Gotta agree with other comments, Bravo to the sound engineer, so clean !

Dallas may very well be one of the true hidden gem singer/songwriter and overall (underrated) performers of the last ~10-20 years. AOF is not everyone's cup of tea (I personally love them), but surprised City has not blown up even bigger in NA.

Wow...love this line up...been watching Dallas for many years and this particular performance made my eyes sweat tears of gratitude that he is finally getting the recognition that he deserves and he is really just starting to peak. He has changed his band mates so many times but this line up is by far my favorite. I have been a musician all my life and I can spot that high you get when everybody in your band is just vibing and feeling it like they did during this performance. So thankful to have seen this. I believe there is a lot more of this to come.

Credit to the previous lineups he’s had, they’ve been good. This is the one. Best band in Canada right now, and Dallas just keeps getting better with age.

So true... i think in this lineup they sound really as a band. Sometimes (previous one's) i had the feeling that it is "Dallas and the Band", but now for me it's City an d Colour as it's best!

This whole album has helped me grieve my brothers passing in late august 2022. Funnily enough C&C was his favourite band he never got to see. Life is weird sometimes.

Erik Neilson's bass work in this set is nothing short of phenomenal. I mean they're all amazing and the sound mix is perfect, but that bass man ... just wow. Note perfect. Nothing out of place, never too much, never too little. Just vibing. *chef's kiss*

I think I just found my favorite album of all time. Been a fan since 2008-ish, and I'm so happy to see more music, better than ever. This is an amazingly recorded and performed live session. Great job..

Just saw them in charleston sc, i can confirm they do sound this good live. It may have been best live band I've ever seen. They play so well off one another, they all sing, and they all listen to one another. Phenomenal band with an equally talented person running the mix!
