He’s aged the best of any actor who ever took on the role. Everyone else who stayed on for more than 2 movies had a noticeable change from when they started to when they stopped. With Craig he’s changed very little which is very impressive. Especially when you consider he’s had to work harder than every other actor before him in regard to acting and stunt work and because of idiots who bash on him because he doesn’t look like a Kennedy era definition of a stud. He’s been better than most every actor before him and I personally feel he’s been better than Sean Connery although I know most wouldn’t agree. He’s like Connery if they didn’t hold him back to be more marketable to audiences of the 60s.

SweetJohnnyCage Ian Fleming had an exact idea of James Bond based on real existing persons. Non of them was black, asian, gay etc. And please don‘t misunderstand me. This isn‘t about racism or homophobia. It‘s about an iconic personality who shouldn‘t be changed. Same with other fictive Characters. Dolph Lundgren as Shaft? No Idris Elba as Robin Hood? The idea of changing bond's ethnicity or sex is a death knell for the character waiting to happen. The character of Bond has had some pretty consistent traits through his run, and the more you change those traits, the less like Bond he becomes. Bond has always been an ethnically white Scottish man. His image was based on Hoagy Carmichael, and that visual has been pretty well adhered to along the way, so much so that the common image of him builds up an historical expectation. Could a black person or a female play an excellent spy in a fun movie? Sure, but no matter what you called the character, it wouldn't be Bond. Similarly, you could cast Bond as a female Indian dwarf with a bright pink mohawk and probably make a really entertaining movie, but again, it wouldn't be Bond. The only difference in those examples is the level of change to the character we're talking about. Change his hair colour, fans grumble. It all scales badly from there as the changes become progressively obvious. Fans of an established character tend to feel cheated by these politically driven changes, and the business pact between entertainer and audience is then broken, and they stop turning up with their money. They came for Bond, but they get 'not--Bond'. Word gets out, and people who 'were' going to come and watch Bond, find out ahead of time it's actually 'not-Bond', and they don't bother turning up. Box-office under performs, and the director blames it on the audience for not accepting his or her deception. That's how that works. Instead of wrecking an established character, surely just write a vehicle from the ground up as a black actor or female actress? Make it incredible, well written and brilliant, and people will want to watch it, but smuggling in a political ideology by hijacking an established franchise won't end well, as Paul Feige might attest.
@ronnyb58903 жыл бұрын
you hit the nail on the head sir,a lot of people,including me wont be going to see a female bond,ever,like you said,there are enough roles where female actors can show their masculin treats,wonder woman,atomic blonde,black widdow,hanna,haywire,hunger games,kill bill,etc,did i miss some? lol,they only want to replace male character,period

@@dylanlarge11 I watched one episode of it with Jodie in the role to give it a chance and just switched off. It didn't feel like Dr Who any more. That said, I knew they were going to do it the moment they changed the Master to female. That was them testing the water with the public and laying out the precedent of Time Lords regenerating into a different sex. Sure enough, the very next Dr turns out to be a vaguely female androgyne in gender neutral clothing.

Frankly, I like him more than the white british actors they are currently looking at. He has all the charm, charisma, and coolness that Bond would need. Now, making bond a women would be a bad idea, because I feel like one of the main aspects of the bond films is this idea that Bond is a womanizer and the incorporation of femme fatale characters in the story. So sad that every new movie has to have a mandatory black person, the "diversity" political agenda is so obvious and makes the movies so shit. Bond is and will always be a british man, stop ruining it hollywood.

@@SupportTheLittleGuy Exactly. I'm Indian (Born and raised in California my whole life) and I've literally NEVER complained about this diversity bs even though Indians are literally *NEVER SHOWN* in American Movies/Shows. And whenever people say "We want Diversity!" they always just add a Black person. As if Black people represent ALL people of color. Honestly, it's just dumb.

Daniel is trying to say that no, Bond shouldn't be Black or a women, and does it by making a great point in saying create other characters that way. But not Bond. You wouldn't make Black Panther a white man so why make Bond a black man.

Daniel really perfected the answer to that shitstorm of a question about non white male Bond. He gave the safe answer of “everyone should be considered” but also hinted at his true opinion that Bond doesn’t need to be diversified

Craig's end of era....
@miked18695 жыл бұрын
Well, that got awkward fast. Daniel Craig is wrong-footed by the interviewer, who uses the term 'African American', when I would have thought the next actor is unlikely to be American at all. Then you can almost hear poor Craig's panicked thought process in that stammering response: 'Oh God, oh God, which is the correct term to use?' And then he overcompensates by widening the scope of the answer. I felt sorry for him here - he seems like a nice guy being dealt a minefield of a question. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just relax about this stuff? I don't think I've ever known, or even heard of, a black person who found the term 'black' offensive or disrespectful. Barring some terms that are obviously _designed_ to be insulting, It's all about context and intention, I think. Inventing ever-more elaborate ways to describe someone's ethnicity in order to avoid offending anyone is doing nobody any favours.
