WATCH | George Building Collapse 'A National Calamity' - Joe Phaahla as death toll rises to 12

The massive search and rescue operation at the collapsed building construction site in George has reached 95 hours, and authorities are racing against time.
On Friday, the Western Cape provincial government confirmed the death toll had risen to 12 after three more bodies were retrieved from under the rubble in the morning.

Response to this tragedy doesn't fill me with hope if we should ever have an even larger disaster. I'm sorry for those on site who are trying their best but they should have been given more help sooner.

@@amandahayes37 Then of om wrong, I'm wrong but every report I have seen people were standing around. One even on camera standing on top of the pile smoking. As if those trapped are not in enough danger as it is, a cigarette butt could cause a fire down there. Again, I hope I'm wrong. Why did the heavy equipment only just arrive today. I have worked with this government before and I speak of experience of not getting adequate answers or action from them. Not blaming the workers. Blaming the lack of urgency in assisting them with manpower. Life over limb. Get those slabs off.
