Dimitros nope completely different players. Matthews will be a franchise player where Laine never will be. You should never build your team around wingers. Laine is good but he is a winger and doesn't bring the leadership qualities that McDavid does and what Matthews will.

Sorry man but there is no rivalry. Maybe with the media and fans but that's as far as it goes. For example you could see the intensity back in the day with Crosby and Ovechkin as a rivalry. You don't see it at all with these two players, especially Matthews. His focus is on his team and winning. Chanting " Laine's better" meant nothing to Matthews. Where when Jets fans chanted "Crosby's better" you could tell it got under Ovie's skin. It takes the players to make it a rivalry and there is none with these two.

Haha nope, not at all. My teams are the Oilers and Islanders. Been that way for a long long time. Definitely challenging teams to cheer for but they are my teams. I am just pointing what I see is all. No disrespect to Laine and I am not trying to imply that Matthews is better. I am just saying they are different players with completely different situations. Laine is a winger and joins a team that already has leadership and a potential franchise player in Scheifele. The Jets are solid in most areas of their team so it is an easier adjustment for Laine. Where Matthews is the face of the franchise and expected to come in and save the team from losing. The Leafs are young, quite inexperienced and the pressure is huge on Matthews compared to Laine. As well, Matthews isn't really buying into a rivalry with Laine so it seems. He seems more mature and focused on being apart of getting the Leafs winning. I am definitely not a Leafs fan though. I don't dislike the Jets either but my teams are mentioned above. The Jets have one heck of a future ahead I will say. I just personally do not see a rivalry with these two players aside from being drafted 1st and 2nd. That's just my opinion though. Cheers!
