Ciga Design have launched a new watch and it is the most expensive watch they have made costing as much as some entry level Swiss Made luxury watches. This watch does house a tourbillon movement but is this enough to justify the price.
No includes paid promotion icon as I borrowed this watch and I never make sponsored/paid content.
Here is a link to the Ciga Design web page.

WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZfaqs lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZfaq deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

I am glad that they only made 999 pcs. I highly doubt that they will sell them out as quickly as Omega limited editions. I will go with Madness, but I have to give them the props for having huge balls. 🤣

Found it telling that you didn’t spend a great deal of time showing the face of the watch… which I think speaks to the fact that both the back of the watch and the movement itself are more interesting than the part you’ll see when actually wearing the watch.

@@ilikewatches given the price, there are a whole lot of watches available (for much less) where you’d get a great deal more joy looking at it on your wrist versus this one. Don’t even need to change brands, compare this to the Blue Planet.

They asked me to review it but I decided not to. I don’t think the price is right. It’s a commemorative watch which makes it even more niche. Too many people do Everest now which ruins the mountain and surroundings (watched enough documentaries on the Sherpas , bodies and litter) It’s too big for anyone but people with Arnie size wrists. As an exhibition piece or a prototype yes but personally I can’t see who even the 999 people will be that would buy one. One thing that does fascinate me is a tourbillon in the centre. I’d love to see the movement to see if it really is in the centre and how that works as that is then not off the shelf and would, I assume, be bespoke for them .

I really like Ciga. Most their watches, this one included, have a very clearly related design language. I don't think $4K is necessarily overpriced, but on paper, it's too much when other well known chinese brands are producing tourbillon watches for $1k and under. I think this design is right in line for the brand, but the pricing misunderstands its market. They need to get it's price to $2k or less. My opinions, for what they're worth.

I'm guessing this would not be a watch actually worn by someone as a timepiece, more a rich collectors next shiny thing to put in a glass case.

with a proprietary toolless strap change feature like that and given ciga lack any real heritage and certainty over the future of the brand, you have to question who would shell out £4K on a watch like this where the strap may not be replaceable in the future.

I love the style of Ciga Design, I've always liked them... even if in Italy the various reviewers didn't appreciate the originality and beauty of the blue Planet... which I literally love... this new model totally expresses what you want sets out and does it in an equally ingenious and beautiful way.. great Ciga Design!!! 😁😁👍👍👍👍👍👍

The machining looks incredible and the way they integrated the strap to the case is very clean and innovative. They are far from the first to do a centrally mounted tourbillon, but this is something very different and that is nice to see. I would definitely pass on this one but I applaud them for doing something different.

I don’t quite know what to think. It’s very cool, but the price is high. But then again, they may have now established themselves as a high end brand. Obviously I would literally buy 10 (if not more) other watches for $4,000 but good on them for putting it out. Thanks as always!

The reason they designed the straps the way they did is so you can disconnect the straps and then hang that thing on the wall.

Think they sold quite a few and gave us watch reviewers them in high numbers. I kept mine but many sold theirs, they sold quick and for good money and still do on eBay. I liked the blue planet for its art, the carving was when you saw it in the real quite exquisite, especially the gold one. So I wind mine occasionally and like to wear it sometimes around the house but that’s about it.

Until the macro shots, I assumed that the "hands" were oriented so the pickaxe shaft was the hand, not the axe head...Seems weird to choose the ax head in lieu of shaft...otherwise, Ciga has done another interesting, original timepiece...

Very cool, but like you said more art than watch. I know the evidence is thin, but I think this should be celebrating the 100th anniversary of climbing Everest, I am of the camp George Mallory made the summit in 1924. Lastly, it would be truly amazing if Ciga would donate a portion of every watch sold to help the local Sherpa and their families.

I felt that you were struggling to hold back your less reserved opinions on this one. Where a watch like Atelier Wen does much to convince me that it is worthy of its price, this does not. I guess that ultimately that is also because that price is predominantly wrapped up in the movement, but for me it is design and execution that sells the watch. The movement only needs to be right, fair (for the price) and suitable.

I'm really pleased someone is doing a (relatively) affordable central tourbillion. I think it's great that it is CIGA in particular, given their history of making interesting and affordable designs. I'm just sad that this particular design is so disappointing: too large, no minute makers, ugly hands (why are the flags pointed forward, like teeth, rather than trailing in the breeze?), terrible lume-and shockingly bad consistency on the timeframe l timegrapher. Hopefully someone else will do a better design with this movement, once they've fixed the performance issues.

It's huge and indices less hardly any difference in hand size so not much use for telling the time adding the tourbillon doesn't improve matters. If I had that much to spend, there's loads of options. Nomos, Longines and Tudor to name a few.
