This Peltier style cooler really caught my attention. How could this cool down your food without a compressor? Well, instead of just wondering I put this AstroAI 12v chiller to the test. Does it actually work and does it actually get down to temp?

I have the same model and full time RV. Anytime I have shore power I plug it in for additional cooler space. Despite advertisements, 25-30 below ambient temperature is spot on. From room temperature to 25-30 below it takes mine 3-4 hours. Thanks for the content!!

With Peltier Portable Cooler i always turn on it 2h before placeing stuff to cool interior of the cooler, than i place frozen coolant this way it's already a bit cooler than starting temperature outside 12Celsisus lower so the ice melting slower xD

I may have missed it, but I believe something this is better designed for car rides not trying to keep beer cold on a fishing trip. No water to leach into sandwich bags during trip is better. But absolutely thank you for the data

The trick is and my mom used to yell at me when I was a kid is to not open the door every half hour and leave it open....I have one that's 30 years old and it works great....another thing is they work great for food unless you like soggy sandwiches also mine says to definitely not put ice in them

Had an idea on how to apply this to small aircraft, aircraft fuel gels up at high altitude, you can just reverse the polarity so it will warm the fuel to keep it from gelling up. And if you use it on a car so to speak, if you chill the fuel you gain horsepower, which in turn could be used on lots of applications.👌

This cooler is suck, I bought one. A big cooler with single peltier and wobbly fan not enough for the cooling system, peltier gets very hot, it’s need a much more powerful fan and heat sink to keep the peltier cooler. If there was a bigger or more peltier with better exhaust system it might worked better. You can build a similar type of cooler in a much more cheaper price at home. But it’s not very energy efficient, and you can keep one or two drinks at a time.

One of the key factors to remember is film electric coolers do not work very well in hot weather should try in a cooler temperature such as 70°.

The peltier design really is interesting, but it takes more energy than a compressor style fridge, and it’s very limited to how cold it can get. The bonus is that its a cheap module and you don’t need Freon. Appreciate it man!

I wonder if your little power adapter is capable of producing enough wattage to power that. Typically those little DV power supplies are only 2 amps which would only be 24 watts, perhaps you should try it with a higher amp power supply and see if you meet manufactures spec.

The manufacturers offer DC cords for these... very common.

@@ked4864 yes, they’re 4-5 amps because the coolers use 45 watts. That’s why I specifically called out the amperage in my comment

They are inefficient but cheaper and much smaller and lighter than a compressor fridge and they use more power but work at any angle. Put precooled stuff in and keep it in a cool spot. If you have the power to spare in the right conditions they're great, like in an air conditioned car you can freeze stuff.

It failed for multiple reasons but most importantly it did not cool down the lines well enough, but here is the video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndZ5dMmo0bexiYk.html. I used a cheaper amazon 12v fridge but if I used an ICECO fridge or something it would probably work fine.

Nice video! I'm looking to sell veggies at farmers markets using an ebike with custom built trailer/stand that I'll tow behind me. Found some cheap batteries for sale so I'm thinking about building an electric cooler box into the bottom of my trailer, wonder if it would be worth it...

Theres way better battery operated coolers out there these days. Pelletier devices arent really the best for this application. Where they work really well is cooling liquids for liquid cooled applications like gaming pcs or to cool chips. Theres actually a really decent battery powered cooler i recently saw online.
