Love my new 2022 Rebel 500! The slipper clutch is 🔥. Was considering the 1100 but as a small rider weighing 115 thought it might be overkill. Price was a factor for me plus the 500 has 26mpg more than the 1100. The 500 is more than enough power to go faster than you’ll ever need to go. Thanks for the video it was great!

I have a 2019 Honda rebel 500, went on a ride through the mountains when the seal on the pump for my coolant broke. This was in 2020 after 14 months of ownership and 9000km on it. Rode it the 4 hours back to the dealership with the temp light on the whole time. Been good to me since that though

If it's a Honda, generally they never brakedown. I'm 61 and have lost count of all the bikes I've had. IMO, Yamaha and Honda are tops in fit, finish, quality 👌. ALL the Japanese bikes are great though, I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of the "big four" Japanese manufacturers if they had a specific model I wanted.

I rode my 2022 Rebel 500 from Virginia to Washington State in 6 days. The only problem I had was with a sever thunderstorm in Nebraska. Because the bike is so light, the crosswind almost pushed the it off the freeway. Top speed 86mph. No mechanical issues. Had to a battery tender plug (for the gps) because it doesn't come with the bike.

I’ve always had my heart set on the Rebel 500. But recently I decided not to be so tunnel vision set on it and look at other options. I came to the decision of rebel 500 vs Ninja 650. My deciding factor has been insurance. The 650 is 250/month vs 500 is 50/month. Looks my heart and pockets win 😂 Hopefully get to cop the rebel as soon as my local dealer gets one in stock !

I live in New Zealand and most farm bikes are Honda's (Quads and two wheelers). They see everything from mud, wet and cold conditions, cow shit, and getting dropped by the farmers often. They just seem to never break down even through the abuse they go through. Pair this with a good maintenance routine and they'll last you a life time. Honda and Yamaha are both good bike brands for reliability and have a high reputation here in New Zealand.

@@gokulkrishm51 The Honda Rebel 500 was a very comfortable bike, and at times, I do miss it! However, being a 6 speed, I was constantly changing gears (had to shift out of first gear at just 10-12mph). I decided to upgrade to the Triumph Street Twin and at 900cc, it made a world of difference. It is only a 5-speed, which I actually like because it means much left shifting. Also, I do a lot of country-road riding, and the Street Twin "purrs" at 50-60 MPH in 5th gear, much better than the Rebel 500 did at 50-60 MPH in 6th gear. I'm not knocking the Rebel at all, but if you haven't bought one yet, be sure to test ride the Triumph Street Twin before making your purchase. The sound those stock exhaust puts out is just incredible!

@@jimsaddler942 First off, almost everyone misses the motorcycle that they just sold. Trust me, I know 😂 And yeah I know the Rebel is a good motorcycle and I'd love to upgrade from my Enfield 350 to the Rebel 500. But the problem is, Honda is not selling any Rebels in my country :'( And Triumphs cost a fortune to own here and takes looong time to get spares. I've seen them sitting in dealerships for weeks for simple things like oil filters and such. If you're very far from cities, (which I am) you're gonna have to wait longer. That's why I'm sticking with Japanese but unfortunately they're not available to me. So I'm just asking people because of curiosity :) Thanks!

These engines seems to be very reliably. But IMO better to change oil more frequently, about every 3000 km. Oil change intervals in manual are just too long. Also, regular 10W-30 or 10W-40 oil for gasoline engines will do its job and is much more affordable, than oil branded "for motorcycle". Just get oil from reputable manufacturer with API SN (SM, SL) approval.

The problem is that anyone on the Internet can call himself an expert or a Honda service station/dealership employee. I don't want to offend you, but a motorcycle can't "stop moving" if you use automotive engine oil. If you have evidence, the conclusion of the service station that automobile oil caused damage to motorcycle parts, then it will be interesting to look at them. All my friends with motorcycles of different brands that use car oil have no problems. It may not be worth using oil with excessively high amounts of molybdenum. But small amounts of molybdenum are also found in motorcycle oils such as Motul 7100.

I have a question, I live in Texas and thinking about getting a bike. But how come no on rides in he winter? Is It bad for the bike or do people just get too cold? I could see like no traction because snow or somethin, but for the most part it hardly rains and never snows. and I understand it would be freezing ass. Just wondering what it means to winterize and why you do it
@ncasasl
@ncasasl 2 жыл бұрын
Ppl winterize them because they won't use it during winter due to the cold but I used to ride all year long in new York 20mins to get to work and same commuting home , usually you just gotta check if there's gonna be a big snow or if there's black ice on the roads, other than that, if you have a decent rain suit for rainy days or good winter gear (better if it's industrial clothes) you can just keep riding during winter even when you have mild snow. Btw.. heated grips are a life saver during winter ohh and if it's carburated note that sometimes it gets a little while to be able to start it and you should let the engine heat up for a couple of minutes (or ride really mild on the revs if you're in a hurry) that's it. Ohhh and try to clean the bike frequently when you have riden over salt or any of those chemicals they throw for avoiding the snow to stick to the roads. That will eat the metals if you don't clean them and nobody likes rust 🤟 ride safe!
@pmh1nic
@pmh1nic 2 жыл бұрын
I also live in New York but find there are enough breaks in the winter weather where you can ride and avoid having to winterize the bike. I have a riding suit that even when the temperatures get down to the thirties I can manage the 30 minute ride to work. My personal limit has become 36 degrees after having two issues with ice below that temperature. Ice and riding a two wheel vehicle do not mix. You do need to get a good pair of winter riding gloves because the hands can get very cold with wind chill while you're riding.

Get the 1100 if you can afford the extra cost. The 1100 has 3 rider modes, and if you're new to riding you can put it in rain mode which tempers the throttle inputs until you get used to it and move up to the standard mode. I would prefer the manual version over the DCT. Currently am an owner of a Rebel 500, since April of this year and I love it but I'm kind of growing out of it already.

How does it handle on highway/freeway?

I don't have the 500 yet but road a Rebel 250 for a few years. The 250 was o.k. up to about 60-65 mph so I have to imagine the 500 would be good on the highway up to 70-80 mph without the engine sounding like a lawnmower or vibrating your hands and feet to the point where they are numb after 30 minutes.

Where does the redline start? I had a 95 cb750 starts to redline at 9k and goes to 12k rpm. I think I heard the redline is really low on the 500, like 6k rpm I am looking for a new bike. I'm thinking a Honda standard cb500. The 300 is single cylinder, so pass. The liter bikes are $$$ and I mostly ride in town and I'd prefer a lighter bike when I do slow U turns on hills.

How much you weigh, man? People saying the seats suck for heavier people.

About 160lb! I could definitely see a heavier set person finding some comfort issues!

If you have issues with comfort, look into Corbin Seats, they make some really comfortable seats, and my dad who is a heavier guy loves his, bought it for him for his birthday

No:1= you barely broke it in. So you can't talk about reliability. No:2=you did the first service yourself? Voiding any & all guarantees? Nice advertising to potential new rider's into expensive factory recalls because you service it yourself right? No:3= It's been 4 minutes in, you've given nothing? No info on "long term ownership, only what you have added on to the bike. No:4=5min in, he's saying what pretty much anyone knows about Honda & pretty much all Japanese manufacturers

It's pretty funny to see a "dirk bike" rider struggle to get his rebel 500 in a garage cause there's some loose sand in the way. Pro tip, back it in, so you don't have to turn it around when you go to take it out

Until now he had 0 problems whatsoever. 👍 I know I know, you where expecting to ear that it had a lot of problems but no, these bikes/engines are very reliable and durable, it's a Honda after all. 😉 There are a lot of CB500X's with well over 230k miles/ 370k km without opening the engine and without any problems at all. 💪😃 Sorry to disappoint you. 🤷‍♂️
