Great to see the tourism industry doing well, but at some point Jamaica needs to start thinking about diversification. Not everything need to be about that sector. We speak about residential housing, but like everything else, it's spoken only in terms of providing accommodation for the tourism market.

Well said. Those Chinese want to build these elaborate buildings . Those are going to block other current residents views. Just ridiculous. I don't want to visit Jamaica from NYC and go see a bunch of hi rises in residential living areas. That interrupts the breeze, the views and messes up the ambiance.

Very well stated, I have been echoing same sentiment. We cannot allow ourselves to become All Inclusive plantation. At least The Bahamas and Barbados who tested in tourism as well, have a more livable wages and better infrastructures as well. Which may be the cause of better wages

Oh and guess what?????the Jamaica Tourism board doesn't even bank in Jamaica so that revenue is not adding to Jamaica's gross revenue.

I really enjoyed the video, it was very informative and answers questions that I had but was unsure of how to get the answers. I am an American, with no family ties to Jamaica but love the country. I plan to buy land somewhere in Jamaica in the next couple years. I was thinking of maybe just get a piece of land next year and go from there, but my goodness, I’ve learned I’ll be purchasing a house for sure - almost or already built!! My mind was definitely made up after this video. Thanks again. I find your videos beyond helpful and reduces the stress and research of buying from Foreign.

You Must have Building Regulations set in place this is a simple matter to fix all your building Companies need to be registered and regulated, through a government ministerial office not the minister of his Office....

be careful because many islands have been destroyed by mass building. Malta, singapore. They are more mini cities rather than relaxing islands of beauty. jamaicas pull is the natural beauty.

If we were to develop other industries outside of tourism, we would not be restricted to Negril with its limited space to put up needed housing. Jamaica need to start the process of formally developing specific sectors in various areas throughout Jamaica, accompanied with appropriate accommodations. As an example, a Textile sector in Sav-la-mar, a Tech sector in Mandeville and so forth.

It is so great to see Jamaica getting a lot of construction projects I hope the Jamaican government is going to put more investment only for the jamaican people and also try to bring back people like myself who is part of the Jamaican diaspora to come back to the nation and invest as well🇯🇲

They just had the Jamaica Diaspora Conference June 17-19. Did you attend? The whole point of it was teaching out to Jamaicans overseas. They are doing what you're saying. Houses for Jamaican citizens are being built all over the island by the National Housing Trust, but demand is far higher than supply. You can see the developments they have coming on the NHT website.

I thoroughly enjoyed this panel and will go to the government site to learn more. Your panel answered some of the questions I had from the Pinnacle video, but it raised some follow-up questions about buyers' rights and developer accountability in the event that corners are cut. For instance, let's say I buy into a condo development that clears inspection. However, immediately upon taking ownership of the property (or within the 1st year of ownership), it becomes clear that corners were cut by the developer because issues surface related to build quality and/or code violations. What rights do buyers have to hold developers accountable pursuant to building code regulations and inspection compliance? Are such disputes common in Jamaica (they are in the States) and what does the resolution process look like currently in Negril?

You take your contract, the drawings and specs, and the proof of violations, get you a lawyer licensed to practice in Jamaica and experienced with this kind of case, and haul the developer into court.

Ganja wxports revenue can also finane a bauxite smelter, which cost$1.5 billion usd, to build,but geothermal energy can also smelt bauxite, tourism brings in$2 billion annually but isn't trickling down to the poor for housing 😢

Ganja is a cash crop,that generates $ billion in taxation, j.a. is blessed with 4 growing seasons,the 4th is indoor gardening, ganja creates jobs,which reduces crime,export revenue,like u.s. Colorado, these $ can build homes for everyone 😂

Honestly this first interview 2:00 is useless. How can government be rezoning an area and yet information about the plans remain so walled in? This is a feel good interview not much substance… what can potential investors do with “nice changes”?

I disagree. There is tactical information given in this in this presentation about zoning, height restrictions, density ratios and compliance. If you know everything already then I can see how this might be useless to you. Yes the future building regulations may not have been reveled yet but it should stop you from investing and development if you see an opportunity. Remember the best time to invest in real estate is 5 years ago
