My 2013 F30 328i is currently at 75,320 miles and is still running smooth and amazing as when I got it 3 years ago with 30k. I do an oil change every 6k, or 5 months with Liqui Moly products. I have only had to do maintenance on my car, and it is solid, and still getting an impressive 470 miles per tank of gas in California. Just like you said, if you take care of your car, and are over 70k there’s nothing to worry about. The F30 328i is solid when you know how to own one and take care of it. This has been the best car I’ve owned.

Edit: I also did have the timing chain inspected at 50k at a dealership in Southern California. When I showed up for my appointment and told Service Advisor what I had seen online, he was shocked and said he had never seen any timing chain issues with the 328i, and said that F30 328i’s are great cars. After leaving my car at the shop for 2 days and enjoying a brand new 2017 330i loaner with 800 miles on it, the Service Advisor called me and said they could not find a single thing wrong with my car and waived the diagnostic fees. The timing chain guide issue isn’t as common as the internet overhypes it.

This is my daily and I’ve been doing a lot of long distance highway driving lately so that’s why I’ve been hitting 470 miles per tank. On a normal commute to work and home with city driving that’s when I get 400 miles per tank. I have Bootmod3 installed with stage 1 91 oct. I did have a catless downpipe with stage 2 installed on my car for a year from 50k to 60k but took the downpipe off and flashed Stage 1 back on because I was going to start driving 15k a year and wanted to see if I saved gas. Also because of the stupid California Modified Exhaust Laws. Honestly I think on the highway I got better mpg with the catless downpipe or it doesn’t really make a noticeable difference. But any car, if you’re always pressing your gas pedal through the firewall is going to chug gas. Trust me when I’ve done aggressive city driving I’ve seen my mpg tracker go to 12mpg. Spark plugs every 30-50k with oem NGK 97506 and keeping your fluids fresh should help your car be as efficient as possible. I did a Coolant Flush at 70k and engine temps have noticeably been lower, Transmission fluid and filter change at 70k, tranny got smoother. This car is very easy to work on. I’m a Technician myself and I’m going to just say, some of the services on this car are way easier to do than let’s say...a Toyota😁 Working on your own cars saves you tons of money. But if that’s not for you just buy the parts from websites like FCP Euro take them to a shop to install. They should just charge you for the labor and it’ll be way less. Shops always sell their parts at insane prices, parts are cheaper online most of the time.

I'm sitting at 191,000km (118,000 miles) and besides the general maintenance, I've only replaced a passenger side wheel bearing and a thermostat which went at 185,000km. Timing chain is holding up fine, I just do my oil changes earlier than usual to be on the safe side. The 328i F30 chassis is definitely reliable.

I have a 2014 328i and I’ve done a good amount of mods on it, and I have not experienced anything bad with the car, and I would encourage someone who is scared to buy a bmw to not be! Go for it if it’s a F30 and up!

Moving from a e93 to a f85. Had my m3 from (10 miles) 2011-2020 (50k miles) Past a vacuum line at 50k miles the only repair I had was engine mounts. Was a wonderful car and hope my f85 will be the same. Love the M series

I recently bought a '14 328i xdrive and drove it up from Florida to Wisconsin. It has about 72,000 miles on it now and I'm in love! Only major problem I've had was a radiator leak that was covered under warranty and I still need to fix the passenger side seat heater. Recently found your channel and love it! I look forward to changing a few things on my car now lol

Bought recently a used N20 320i with 100,000km on it and damn I'm glad I've been in the automotive industry and a car enthusiast. Expected problems happened. Cracked radiator, cracked hoses, sensors, coilplugs, mounting, bushes and all those wear-and-tear things needed to be replaced. Got it for a week and send it straight to the workshop to get it done and boy, it wasn't cheap and Lord I'm thankful that I prepared mentally and financially. Next thing to do is to change the suspension, wheels and tires, brake kit, cluster, head and tail light, intake, exhaust, servicing the a/c and only gonna start flashing and mapping once all those are done.

Actually i had the same clogging issue, just take out the hose from its position and blow/suck once or twice and it will work perfect again (has worked for 2 years now, no issues)!

I have a 2012 528i and the only big thing that went wrong with mine was the coolant thermostat. It wasn't that expensive and was easily replaced within about an hour and a half by myself. Other than that nothing much.

My 2012 F30 daily driver well maintained with just 49k miles. Around 4k there was a spark plug malfunction dealer fixed it since car was under warranty. Now fuel tank started leaking, engine bay vacuum pump started leaking. Dealer quoted around 6k for repairs.

I have a 2014 228i N20. 58K miles.. I had my T-stat replaced (open circuit heater code), and my fuel tank replaced, check valve went bad, fuel smell outside of car. Both warranty.. Also a few pieces of the clear coat on my interior wood trim cracked..replaced under warranty.. Thats its..

I got a 2014 F32 428i, 137k miles. So far only things replaced was rear right bearing at 120k miles, swapped both the rears did them my self rented the hub puller, thermostat was changed at 49k miles under warranty which BMW extended the warranty till 120k miles if not mistaken, radiator sensor 116k miles under SULEV warranty (entire radiator was replaced as sensor is built into the radiator, my radio head unit I replaced at 100k just stopped working, bought used one on eBay for 89 bucks and good as new, replaced oil cooler seals at 130k was starting to leak a little so I replaced it before it got worse. Other than that general maintenance I replaced the trans filter and did a drain and fill.

Loved mine and had no problems, until the engine seized at 103k miles out of the blue. The car was mint, BMW CPO bought at 24k miles. Not driven hard, maintenance done regularly, garaged, etc then one day the engine seized. After a month long negotiations, BMW told me to kick rocks. The dealership said they’re seeing a bunch of them with the N20 engine seizing around 90k plus. $14k later it’s got a new engine. I still love the car and desperately want to still love the brand but I feel super burned by them. This was my second BMW, previously had a 5 series E60, which actually did have a lot of problems. Maybe next time I won’t keep the car past 90k miles.

2011 335xi (E90 LCI) original owner here with 51k miles on it. Only thing to ever go wrong is the water pump just went out which is pretty typical between 50-60k miles. Best car I've ever owned.

Owner of a 2013 BMW 328i xDrive F30. Bought it with 54k and im at 123k currently. I do maintainence routinely and have not had any big scares with the car. The car is not stock either, it has various bolt on's and a bootmod3 tune. Happy owner.

I've owned my 2015 BMW 335xdrive for 7 years haven't had any major problems. I do park my car inside. Wash my car when there is salt on the road. But then again my BMW been to hell and back from people hitting my car. So I guess I have new parts in the front and back in the last 7 years lol

2015 328i, one of the wheel speed sensors failed after one week of ownership (roughly 44k miles on the car) and 2 days before I was about to drive 1k miles to Denver.

I had a leak in my brake booster type part . Was leaking brake fluid in the exhaust manifold causing a bad burning smell . 70k miles also ran about $800🤦‍♂️ and at the same time my thermostat had gone bad another $100 other then that it’s been a decent car

Mine has done 77K miles 2014 plate (UK) done nothing to it apart from General maintenance oh. It had to go in for a recall on the EGR cooler etc. My car is a F11 . Love it.

So far the only thing that happens with my car is the cluster along with some of the other electronics don’t work and it also throws some error codes but after driving it for 30 mins everything is back to normal...

Mine is daily driver put in 60 miles a day modified 3014 320i f30 stage 2 71k miles running amazing no problems except some failing because of sensors but nothing expensive i have only spent 500 on engine and transmission repairs 🥰

I live in PA with best drivers in the world - we dodge 3-4 potholes per mile. Retiring soon and moving South. FL roads are sweet but summers WAY too hot for me. Been to NC few times; great climate and beautiful country but it’s been 20 years. How are their roads? Lovin’ the KIES cap!

The roads are incredible in nc, but we have a pretty steep property tax on vehicles because of how well these roads are maintained. Worth it to me

Has anyone ever had a drivetrain malfunction? I recently got it on my 14 bmw 320i. I’ve tried restarting the car already and the check engine line and drivetrain message doesn’t go away. I’ve gotten it diagnosed and the codes are p0300-p0-305 and p1339. I will try to replace the spark plugs, add some fuel cleaner and change the ignition coils to see if it helps. I took it to a mechanic and they “swapped out the solenoids and the fault returned on the exhaust side of things. They will have to tear down to further investigate diagnose but they have prepared an estimate as it was a failure of the vanos unit (camshaft adjuster) has failed. This repair also includes the other repair that your vehicle needs for the camshaft suction problem.” It’s a $2.1k job so I’m hesitant to get to it done due to the fact that they have to “investigate”. Another mechanic said that it might be the timing chain however he hasn’t seen the car yet. Any guidance will be highly appreciate.

The car has 73k miles and the maintenance has always been done at a bmw dealership.

88000 Km/ 54680 Miles in my f31. 2 turbos, 1 alternator, broken door seals and many other weired noises.. I realy love and maintain my car (gearbox oil change at 50.000km and oil change every 10.000km) but that was my first and last bmw.... greatings from germany (:

My F30 335xi has been fine but lately sometimes I will lose power while accelerating and the car will sort of jolt. It’s freaking me out and I’m not sure what it is. No warnings on the dash at all.

Oh man, where do i start? 08 E92 335I DINAN/ PURE MIX BREED.. Oil filter housing/cooler leak. Caused belt failure and muddy engine bay.OIL EVERYWHERE. Valve cover gasket leak. Caused misfires. Coil packs went bad due to oil leaking. Water pump, thermostat. Fuel pressure sensor, O2 sensors bad. All with in a month and a half 😒. All fixed via DIY...

This is the car i have 2013 238i (Sport Package.) Had it for 7 years. Took it in for maintenance every 5k, oil/filters. Up to 162k i had to replace spark plugs, coils, gas tank, transmission service, and computer. After 162k timing chain/guides, spark plugs, valve cover, tank fuel pump and fuel pump control unit. All in the same month. Set me back about $6k in repairs. Put money aside if you plan on getting one.

My F30 cant even handle a stage 1 tune without destroying my spark plugs and im having to replace the fuel injectors as well. 2nd time ive had to do it, soooo yeah stock it is 😂

I mean, people will say any car is unreliable because of said brands, but why would that matter if you take care of the car and don’t abuse it like others do? It should serve you right. If a car is no longer being made by a company, that sounds more unreliable than a car that’s keeps being remade/revamped.
