Thank you for mentioning the texting aspect. I ALWAYS notify the customer if the trip is going to be multiple pickups and drop offs because when I was a customer for years and I would watch the drivers going every direction except my home and I didn't figure out that they were picking up other orders until I saw the app from the other side. If you simply explain to the customer that you have multiple stops to make or that their order is being delayed, they will see your effort. Take a page out of the corporate email bible and ALWAYS end your messages with "Thank you!" - emails that end in "thank you" are 50% more likely to get a response. If a customer hands you a tiny cash tip at the drop do NOT look disappointed. Say Thank you emphatically and show them that it means something to you (even if the amount is insulting) I have had cash tippers ADD ON additional tip in the app after the drop off just because I was grateful and made it seem like they were really helping me out. You gotta stroke their egos a little and make them feel like they are a good person because when they get that little hit of dopamine they will want to show you how great a person they are 😂 it's all psychology. If they have a funny statue or decoration in their yard or on their door tell them how cool it is. 😎 you gotta engratiate yourself with them every way you can.

As the owner of an independent pizzeria with a delivery staff, and who also just recently started using Uber Eats for out of our area deliveries, I have to tell you that this is all fantastic advice!! Not only do these suggestions help the driver get better tips, it helps the restaurants you're delivering for as well. We could have the best pizza in our area but one not so great experience with the delivery person could potentially keep that customer from ordering from us again. So thank you for making this video!!

I enjoy driving for UBerEats because not only it’s fun but I feel safe having that feature that your family can track your whereabouts and the customers can track when their food left the restaurant and when we are arriving to their house. Having delivery bags are really helpful and a must. I got complimented by a restaurant, and the customers like that too. This video is really helpful and you gained a subscriber.

I provide a small bag of 2-5 mints with a personal note that includes the customer’s name. 2) Communicate through the app any changes to their order. 3) I communicate that “I am on my way” upon picking up the order. 4) When handing items over to the customer, I address them by name and try to compliment the person in some way. (I.e “I like your name” or “beautiful home” or “Thank you for the detailed instructions to find your home” 5) I send a note via the app thanking the customer for the order and a smiley face. My tips are over half my base pay.

They won't. Your suggestions don't help. If drivers were paid what they ought to be; and your entitled millennial ass had to pay a *minimum* $15 for your simple McDonalds meal, would you *still* order takeout? No! Delivery services have always relied on the poor, unemployed, underemployed, and illegal immigrants to do their slave labor work. The *only* reason they *can* do this is because of rich or lazy people who can't be bothered to make a meal.

I have been ubering for almost 2 years. Tips are the biggest income. Your points are great. I sit in a Fred Meyer parking lot that is in the middle of a lot of restaurants. I've tried waiting elsewhere with not nearly as much success. Dress well! I do this because I wouldn't want my food delivered by someone with bad hygiene! Clean up your car also. Be polite and say something (sincerely) like "have a good day!". If there is a dog or kid, mention that they are adorable, if appropriate. Don't deliver in a car that has been smoked in. Hot and cool bags are essential! I have well over 1,000 runs (very part-time) with a 100% customer satisfaction rating. And remember- tips are where the $$$ is!

What you are they talking may be practical in your place of origin. But not in Africa.Especially in Kenya where most restaurants are distant than drop up lacations.you probably encounter a harsh client. Most of them position themselves on top of building and compells the driver to drop it there.On the other side you have left the bike outside where is less secure.When you raise the matter as driver no communication from Uber.But when the restaurant or the eater calls they take a swift action and go further to call you direct.Uber is seemed to be biased not realistic in there operations.Thanks

These things may be correct in your market but not every market. Like for McDonald's we have separate areas we go to and say we are there to pick up UberEats and also it dings McDonald's when we arrive letting them know we are there here. So we do not have to wait in line. Most times the order is ready for us when we walk in or just a few minutes after we do here. You are so right about seeing the customer side of things too. It does help to even just explain what they may have questions about. Instead of saying well I am not a customer so I do not know to them. I agree with you in being professional. There are some drivers out there who think just because they have a job with a little freedom as an independent contractor that they can do what they want and throw customer service out the window. I enjoyed the video and gave you a thumbs up as well plus you gave a lot of helpful info too. Have an amazing blessed day!

Also, don't take double orders!!! They don't pay double pick-up fees even though you get two orders and the customer pays a pickup fee. They are a waste of gas especially if they are within 2 miles and both apartment buildings. I never get tipped on double orders Because the customer has to wait if the first person is late answering a door or is not there.
@Drivetowin13
@Drivetowin13 5 жыл бұрын
The key to winning at double pickups is communication. Your best chance at making everyone happy is letting the 2nd customer know you are moving as fast as possible. Because you are already at the restaurant picking up the first order you only get one $1 pickup fee. You do get double drop off fees as well as your mileage and time fees for the total mileage and time. I have actually been pretty successful with getting tips on double orders but you definantly have to work at it.

What I do to speed up the process of making the delivery is, I press the notify customer option in the app before I get out the car sometimes I do it if I am a minute away. By doing this the clock starts counting down to when you can cancel on the delivery and usually by the time I get to the door the customer is usually at the door.

Clean your hands before and after you touch the food. Make sure costumers and restraunt employees see that you cleaned your hands and have gloves on. Never touch your face or mask while handling food. If you work in a small town you will know every costumers name and address in a couple weeks. 90% of the time its the same people .I dont even look at gps while delivering because alredy know the costumers. I was delivering with Uber Eats last night and ended up in downtown where ppl were drunk and trying to open my car to sit it. It was a scary experience LOL. The one merchant that RUINS my flow of income is "Mc.Donalds", I have to wait 32 minutes per order cause after 11pm the doors are closed and I can only do drive through deliveries, with only 10 cars ahead of me. You are *absolutely right* and it's only slightly better with Doordash! I find the average Uber delivery distance *to the restaurant* is about 5 miles and Doordash even more: about 6 or even 7 miles (Doordash pays a little more but not much) so, it all comes down to the average trip cost. Profitability equals average revenue less average trip cost and should include depreciation, insurance, taxes, (imagined) salary, maintenance, and unexpected costs (construction and other delays, failed trips or repeats, etc). Uber, Lyft, Skip, Doordash and other firms have clearly thought out their strategy long ago. From what I can see, my average profit is negative after all real costs are included. This is why the average rideshare or delivery driver will find out that, after their vehicle is ruined through wear and tear and needs either a major repair or replacement: or they have even a minor accident, they actually have no job and, their actual salary is only $3 - $4 an hour if that. Serious. I'm dead serious. Twelve hours of driving for Uber Eats or Doordash and you are likely to earn $40-70 nett including tips. That's $800-1400 monthly after expenses. If that's worth it for your career or lifestyle, so you can avoid having to answer to an entitled millennial whore, slave at a desk with all the other fucking educated retards, or break rocks, then, by all means, help yourself and join the "race to the bottom"

@@Drivetowin13 Yes, but you're driving endlessly to make very little money. You must put at least 10-12 hours to really make descent money on Uber and Lyft. After expenses such as gas, wear and tear on vehicle, insurance, and food and water you're probably making 5 dollars an hour. Not to mention the time you're investing by driving the vehicle to make the money. As far as the tips concern, Not many people tip now days. Many of the UberEats users are the same rideshare Uber users and they don't normally tip. Let's face it, many of the rideshare users are melenials and this generation is more entitled so tipping is not a custom they have. Another issue that affects the tipping is that the customers is already paying a high premium to get the food delivered so they don't feel the need to tip since they are already paying for part of the delivery. One thing I've noticed is that the people that have you deliver to their door step in the most complex apartments rarely tip and the people that come to your car or meet you outside to get their food will tip. I drive 20 hours a week and I'll usually close the week with 10-20 dollars in tips which is nothing compare to the deliveries completed. So I don't believe that you can offset the losses with the tipping you can (pontentially) get because it's not guaranteed at all.

I once turned my AC on in the winter time to try and keep an ice cream from melting on a 21-minute delivery. Turned out pretty good though cause once I arrived I let her know the extra I did and she gave me a $15 tip (that's one expensive ice cream)

So - Uber says that you're not allowed to ask for a rating, be it asking for 5 stars, or asking for a thumbs up... how do you get around that?
@Drivetowin13

You absolutely can ask them to rate your service.

@@Drivetowin13 - You can ask them to rate the service, yes, but you cannot tell them to give you a specific rating, such as a thumbs up.

If your service is good u won't need to ask. 5 star ratings will just come. Just avoid the ratings conversation altogether be polite professional and friendly. Also don't talk the customers ear off. Its a big mistake new drivers often make.

@@sportfuryman I normally agree 100% with that and do just that when it comes to passenger rides however uber eats is different because the customer has to seek out the rating system vs passengers when it comes up automatically. By putting the bug in their ear it helps with reminding them to do it.

It's crazy people complain about delivery time. Hell most days its takes 30 minutes or more to get a delivery

No tip because of personality but yet they were nice enough to grab your food.. from my opinion every delivery driver needs to be tipped no matter if it’s just a few dollars

I'm pretty sure you missed the entire point. The point is as a delivery driver you gotta make the customer "want" to tip you. If a waiter or waitress walked up to your table, threw your food in front of you and walked away would you want to tip them?

Great job and I agree more people appreciate communication than those who are annoyed by the communication. Loved your pre-saved copy and paste idea with texting. I assume when you say you text them after the delivery you mean before hitting the “delivered” button because once you hit the delivery button you don’t have the ability to text them or at least I thought? Great ideas though 😎

Yes that is correct I send that text before hitting delivered.
