I did a week in the life driving for uber eats!
V V V V V OPEN V V V V V V
I worked 5 days Monday - Friday for 36 hours and 52 minutes online. My take home pay was $534.02. I spent $84 in gas and did over 450 miles on my car. I did 72 trips.
I quit my Amazon delivery job a few months ago and have been doing this in the mean time. I don’t plan on doing it forever obviously.

Hey y’all, first of all thanks for watching my video! 😊 There’s been a ton of questions asked and I have done my best to reply to a lot of them. As for why I do this and not regular Uber it’s just my preference not to have random people in my car. I quit my Amazon delivery driver job a few months ago and have been enjoying the freedom of doing Uber Eats. It’s not the best but it works for the time being until I find something better. If you look at how much I made and deduct taxes and expenses you can see that Uber eats doesn’t pay well. Props to anyone out there making it work longer term but for me it’s only temporary. There is a lot of great information in the comments. Thank you to everyone who did the calculations and put them down below. If you wanna sign up use my code! nicoler25433ui www.uber.com/a/signup/drive/deliver/?70307t=&invite_code=nicoler25433ui

Hi! I have been playing the Uber Eats delivery / passenger game and I can add to this for you. Deliveries are best during extreme weather conditions (then you can hit McDonalds and make many micro trips) Where as recently I have gone back over to the passenger side of things. See Uber Eats servers had a nasty habit of sending me 20 mins out for 3 min delivery (not gas happy) where as I just finished a 1 hour trip with a passenger and made $68.xx. So driving people you make more money hands down vs Delivery, where as Delivery is like a full time job. while I still do both at times, that is usually only around the down times. But delivery customers are too picky. (also, these are Denver, Colorado stats)

If you ever want to try regular uber you could do what one of my uber drivers did. He poached uber riders from uber and did like a private car business. It was great for me because it was a little cheaper and they kept all the money. Plus they had definite clientele. His son did it too and it helped them keep their home. Like they dropped someone off at my college and then picked me up and took me to work. So that’s back to back money. And they were so nice

Hey lady. I drive Uber, UberEats, Lyft, and Postmates. I always recommend Postmates because the customers tip really well almost every delivery (at least 95%) and tips are $2.00 -$20.00 per delivery.

I do uber eats in NW Illinois and for every $200 I make, I spend $40 on gas! I never owe anything in taxes because I have an app that tracks my miles. I can also claim any meals I eat on the road, and maintenance as business expenses. My advice to you is to get an app to help track your miles so you don’t owe much in taxes, if anything.

You can also use quickbooks self employed. It’s pricey but you can deduct it as a business expense. It tracks mileage and your expenses. And you can file and pay quarterlies. So I use that. I haven’t tried the other app. But it does save your yearlies. And you need that if you are ever audited.

Everyone is saying $500 a week isnt much... but shes not even working a full 40hrs. If she had kids then she can spend time with them also. I work 40 hrs a week make $480 a week. And i work 30+ min away, and put around 800 miles on my car a week.
@mayanalien
@mayanalien 5 жыл бұрын
She is leaving home at 10 am, stopping for a bit, going back out to make more deliveries, and getting home at 10 pm. Not sure where you could fit kids into that window. She's also not actually making $500+, she's making closing to 380 after taxes, gas, increased insurance and wear on her car. That's just over $10/hr for a 12 hour work day. That's below minimum wage in a lot of places now. It's a great gig, but not anywhere close to worth the trouble. Great vlog though, she has a knack for this.

All true, but when you drive to your regular job you are still putting on miles and burning gas. In my case I live so far from my work I probably use the same amount doing UE and GH part time as I do just driving to my regular job. In the end you use your car for everything so it helping you make money in return is acceptable imo.

mike88g1 i wouldn’t call those people who work on those platform desperate. I say if it pay the bill then so be it. A regular job say it pay you minimum which is $11/hrs here in Cali that’s before tax, gas, all the other expense that you can’t write off. Is probably a lot less then $11/hrs too.. I been doing Uber eat, doordash, and Instacart for about 4 month doing 4-5 hrs a day and earn an avg of $600-$750 weekly minus gas which is $60-$70 a week. I use to work at a warehouse getting paid $11.50 and at time work from 9am to 7-8pm for a couple day out of the week and on those day that I don’t do those longer hours is always a full 8 and I am taking home $750-$850 every other week which is less then Working for This kind of platform..Yeah when is all add up it may not pay a lot but is doesn’t take much work on your body and don’t have a boss breathing down your neck. On top of that if I ever need it more cash I can always work more or needed a day off I can always take it without asking anyone.

leoni rads agreed. That’s why I don’t like getting things delivered through Grubhub/postmates/uber eats, etc. that much. cause the price is too much for me with delivery charge + tipping. Like I’d rather not even order anything and pick it up myself rather than put myself in a situation where I feel bad for “not tipping” or “not tipping enough”. I still tip if I’ve ordered from these services in the past - cause I understand that delivery fee isn’t their tip, but it’s still super pricey ordering food delivery.

I drive for UberEats sometimes. The key to making the money when doing UberEats is I only go out if the pay is 1.3 the pay and that’s rare if I do that, but going out when the pay is 1.4 and higher is ideal. Also you want to go from 11am-2pm “bam” $60 at minimal $55. Then go back from 5pm-9pm where the pay is always 1.4 - 2.1 that’s at least $80-$100. in 7 hours $130-$160 a day. At least $600-$800 a week at only 35 hours a week.

The Divine Protector Of Mangos true!! I wish more people would realize this. The people MAKING the food don’t get ANYTHING from third party delivery services! I used to think if I tipped, somehow it would go to the restaurant and delivery driver, but I worked at a restaurant that worked with these delivery services and the restaurant didn’t get any of the tips. All the tips people left went to the people driving and picking up the food, as opposed to the people who actually made your meal. I found this unfair because at ANOTHER job, I used to work in the kitchen and bust my ass making the food. It’s hard work in there and they definitely have the hardest job in the kitchen. If it were up to me I’d rather my tip go to the kitchen people than delivery drivers, servers, cashiers, etc.

I use to do Uber Eats a lot but my income vs expenses did not make sense. I do DoorDash now; it allows me to work in a smaller area, so I save Gas. I do Dash Now more than schedule myself. You can schedule in for an area, this prevents saturation of driver so everyone can make money. For areas that need drivers, there is no need to schedule in, you can Dash Now. I average $15-$20 an hour here in Houston TX.

I live in Glendale California I used to do uber eats part time and I was making good money to be honest but I stoped doing it on August 20 th 2018 because they changed the rates it’s horrible they have lowered the pick up and the drop off fee so bad that it’s crazy and also the pay for the miles the only thing that they added is pay for the time but it’s stupid cuz most of the deliveries are in a short distance and they pay 15 cents per minute like for example on a regular delivery that is not far or not that close I was averaging $7 on a delivery now with this new rates it’s like $3.50 a delivery it’s a scam

I wonder if registering as an LLC would provide some benefits to make it more attractive. Pay expenses first like gas, car maintenance, cell service. Those are business expense. Then pay yourself dividends to save on income tax and what's left as profit is then taxable which would be a fraction of what's left. I'm no expert though and I don't live in the USA not sure if that would work for you.
@skyeric875
@skyeric875 5 жыл бұрын
The problem would be double taxation. The LLC would be paying tax then the "div" when you report also. You can write off all expenses during your trips and depreciation of the vehicle
@jemmrich
@jemmrich 5 жыл бұрын
skyeric875 dividends have a different tax rate. In my country dividends of ~$49,000 are tax free. Best scenario is to only draw less than the 50k and keep rest in the biz. Since the remaining profit of the business is after expenses and dividend and, in theory, wouldn't you end up paying less tax?

people saying this isn't worth it, stfu. It's not worth it to YOU. You have no idea of her lifestyle. I live in a three room apartment with my brother and a friend. We split the monthly cost and it comes out to be about $600 each. If I were to do this and make the same amount of money(which there's no guarantees but I do live in a highly populated and decently wealthy(high middle class) area) I'd be making 1,200 a month after paying rent and gas. That's plenty left to pay for anything else like insurance and car payment. And the car can be used as a tax write off(milage, gas, oil, maintenance)

It really helps but not that much you do make more as an Uber taxi then as an eats driver but it’s so much more chill to deliver food no passengers less stress no need for dash cams I made a lot as a rush driver delivery packages which included Walmart grocery runs however the program ended really fast near me I was making guaranteed $10 min even if I was just going up the street also certain areas your eats pay with distance and time driving go up slightly in one area I’m around $3 and change in another area across town I’m at $5 and change I avoid areas with major construction or too much competition and usually do different areas on different days and usually I get tips since my customers are almost all local and know me but if I have to deliver downtown or to student areas I get a tip much lower or not at all Make sure you sign up for all your Uber benefits especially the phone one you can save like a quarter off your phone bill Download an app to keep track of your miles and gas that can get you more on your income tax refund your phone costs too such as when you buy the phone or put the deposit and the data portion you can even put down I wouldn’t do it full time though it’s pretty easy but drains you quick get a decent enough part time or full time job do Uber or Lyft on the side keep your rent or mortgage low enough and you can establish some savings something extra is better than nothing Also try Instacart the pay is awesome though the platform is awful you can get written up for being too slow but I mean in good areas of town you can make $25 a trip the more items the more pay and Instacart pays good for miles driven but finding jobs is hard you have to get up early 7-8 am on Sunday and Wednesday and login to find jobs zones are important too always pick a busy zone or your home zone that way you know the areas and where to take breaks at Instacart customers also tipped me $20 on several occasions there is Shipt too but there is an interview and they take a little bit to contact you

Uber eats, Doordash, Postmate, and Clavier are all about the same you spend your wheels trying to stay above water. These so gig economy jobs blows the winners are the Company not you. These jobs keeps you poor. After driving 40 hours you should make enough to pay your rent. I drove for Lyft 2010-2016 the first five was great after that I was making less and I had to let it go, the bills piled up I.e. Tickets, drop pay, repairs, and more drivers means you are now just a sucker.

Some gig economy jobs are great. Mine lets me work from home, set my own rates (around $50/hr), plan my own schedule. I've been doing it for years. It is not a driving job though. Driving jobs are the worst because you need your car to make your money, but every time you work, your car becomes less valuable and more worn out.

This is an okay job for someone like me (a student) who only pays $700 a month including utilities, because I have no time to work a regular job because my classes take up too much time. I like driving and I do doordash, if I worked 35 hour weeks i would make plenty to pay my rent within two weeks. It’s a low stress job with ultimate flexibility in the hours and that’s the only reason I do it lol. Otherwise not worth the time if you have actual bills to pay.
