I've been taking this for 3 months now. It's been life changing for me. I've gone from an average of six migraines a month to 1 total in the three months. The shot felt like a rusty needle had been injected, but with my severe migraines, that shot felt like a back rub in comparison to the pain of my migraines. I can certainly tolerate 5 seconds of pain in order to have a lifetime of migraine relief!

I just took my first dose and it was a 3 shot load up dose. My wife gave them to me and the shot itself didn’t hurt but the medication in it burns. I’m taking this for severe case of shingles in my head and a stroke and massive massive headaches from the damage that shingles and stroke gave me. Wish me luck guys and I will be praying for you all.

How migraine is not considered a disability is a Mystery to me . I have suffered from migraine since the age of 13 ( my mother has it as well) I have tried this medication as well and anxiety ,depression , stomach issues , no energy and still migraine. Instead of the forehead it now comes from the neck and temporal . It never ends and work has become a struggle. 🥵

It can be. You don’t say I’d you’re in the states but I am. If migraine interferes with your daily life apply for SSID. I did and was approved. I’ve probably unintentionally doxed myself. 😏

I've been on disability for probably 3 to 4 years. I have a couple other health issues but I don't think they are the issue. I'm in bed worthless 4 days a week on average. And to this video...I did Aimovig for at least 3 months and I did get relief but it fizzled out. I had no side effects

I LOVE Emgality!! I totally respect that this guy doesn’t naturally respond well to drugs, but I wanted to share my thoughts. I get chronic migraines, I have one literally every day and they’re just about as high on the pain scale as they get. Like most people with chronic migraines, you build up a pretty high pain tolerance, and still my migraines get the best of me sometimes. Emgality has absolutely changed my life. My neurologist said recently she prefers to prescribe Amovig in part because it doesn’t take as long to take effect (she says Emgality can take several weeks to kick in). For me, Emgality started working instantly. It does have a double loading dose, meaning the first time you start it you take 2 shots. The needle doesn’t hurt, but sometimes the medicine can sting a little. Similar feeling to getting a steroid shot in the hip when you have a cold like sickness. When I’m on Emgality, I don’t have a single migraine all 4 weeks, until the very end of the drugs cycle. Once it starts to wear off, I’ll get a pretty decent migraine.. but that’s just because it’s time to take the next dose. I take Zomig for my abort medication, and I also highly recommend it. I basically tried every oral medication they recommended prior to Emgality… none of them worked for me even a little. Emgality has been like a miracle drug. Definitely ask your doctor about trying it if you get chronic migraines.

Dude. I totally feel you on that last bit… no one deserves to go through this. Chronic unpredictable migraines are soul crushing. I’ve reached a point finally where life style changes aren’t doing anything notable. My life feels controlled by these things. I can’t properly express myself. I can’t enjoy myself because that next migraine is looming around the corner.

Just a tip for making the shots almost completely painless, is to take an ice cube and apply it to wherever you plan to inject yourself for a while. I’m not sure of any actual recommended time in case something is overkill, but I do 20 minutes just to be sure.

Also, it helps me to have someone else do the injection... just a mental barrier that I don’t have to struggle with. I use sumatriptan shots and I love it hurts but I love it how it works and passes the digestive system same as toradol I have some of those on me to keep me from going the ER. I've been on these abort systems for years cgrp is barely been not almost about 24 days I'm not happy about it

I have at least 15 or more migraines a month I've been on the drug for two months and it's already made a humongous difference for me. I thought the shot was very painful as well. But I'll take five seconds of pain instead of another 4-day stretch of a blaring migraine. Physically I really didn't feel any different but I am going through menopause so at the same time I feel tired most of the time because of that so it's difficult to judge. But it's cut my migraines back by well over half I plan to keep taking it absolutely.

Thank you for this review. It sounds like you and I have similar experience with meds that stay in your system a while. I do much better with something that will leave my system soon because more times than not I have bad reactions and no relief from the migraine. There was one injection I tried for migraine (can't recall name) but each time I used it the injection site would swell up and bruise. When I showed the doctor pictures, he said I was having allergic reaction to injection and not to take. I came on here looking for info about emgality because it has been in my fridge for a year. I am currently in a 7 day non stop migraine cycle and I was thinking of taking it. However, your review reminded me of why I was hesitant. I have celiac disease, IBS and am allergic to the top 8 allergens plus more. Although I am in severe pain, I know I wouldn't be able to handle more problems in exchange for or possibly in addition to migraine. Thank you for being open and honest. Good luck on your journey to find relief.

Anything stays in you brain is high risk than a 24 hour pill for lessing, intensity etc.. inflation is a big factor. I jeit tried Emgality had 4 days bad bad migraines had to use symmetry injection at least one toradol that I have with me and anti-nausea zofran. That including some narcotic at the end it's about the time I was on my fourth day if subsided so notice that this causes severe information I would say for a week things are okay woke up in the morning I think I was whistling like a bird and my son Wonder what you doing I think I feel happy that after a while now it's a week before the 28 days that I have to take another shot I having more migraines coming back it's like it's wearing out but it's doing a strange effect like I had an attack today I still have four more days before the next shot where I never had this before I suddenly I just couldn't handle any smells I want to go throw up but my head was not hurting that was strange it's like the opposite tell my son to watch my grandkids cuz I wanted to go throw up had a hard time opening up the foil of my zofran so I decided to give myself a tripton shot and find scissors to open the foil and I had to go find a toradol shots and sit by the toilet I broke out in the sweat which has not happened before so like I said I feel like the opposite but usually I have for migraine has happened. Told my heart doctor about it he researched it with a student nurse and about my covid shots I just had finished recently. He was not happy explained future health issues immune system etc . I feel causes inflammation upon going intot sister and wearing off I had a infusion at the Nero office first three days was horrible. I knew even before anything stays in my brain for 28 day will be bad .I am allergic to and I said academic medicines that will cause panic attack or things that relate when they used it in the emergency for migraine like a nap seen and halopertol. Had to wait for those medicines to come out of my system. Be very aware and alert of your body especially if you already have pre-existing issues. The best thing to do is abort a migraine. I had almost 7 Days in the midsummer in July here in Tennessee we had a heat index I did not want to let go. Taking steroid pills make me feel so jittery by the third day I think steroid shots are better but I needed to keep aborting and need a toradol shots and the other doctor did not on prescribe those but want me to go over to the ER for it. It's not bad to try out something but I think these particular shots are risky with some people and will cause issues that have not existed I've done a lot of reading and I have experience so I've decided not to take any more of these shots and wait for more research and time and new medicines but there's one that could put on my arm I don't know the name but I like to try on a migraine comes. Pray pray. God help us . I feel like a super person when sounds and smell heighten up so fast and strong it's horrible to experience like I become an animal with senses that I do not like does not feel good. I hated they became nauseous over my grandkids Cheerios or chips suddenly and almost wanted to go throw up today took my tripped and shot and zofran fast as possible before I was going to throw up which never happened. What is terrible us cravings hour to two before then attack you have.sweets or food in you won't digest. I should if not gave in let.the migraine show up more sip in Sprite or power aid. Wish the doctors would have me take infusions in my town cuz I have to drive about 30 miles to get infusion.. Not good I don't relax and they put me in a cold room so I'm freezing and anxiety is a little up I have to be around people and be warm at the same time have it quiet

@@neicees I moved to Las Cruces New Mexico from one year in 2018 to 2019 and I loved it my migraines were so much better and different long as I was not in high elevation too long anything with switching weather patterns up in the mountains the patterns of the wind shift more than lower sea level. And the one there's great and steady compared to Phoenix Arizona. I like Tucson Arizona areas like that what Las Cruces New Mexico was great to live in from Walgreens I had to come back cuz I had to get next surgery and I was alone I became broke I have a lot of cousins out there but they were far from me. And I want to go live in the town of Roswell live in. But I did find out what was better for me was changing towns and State but I just can't I had all the money I would have a visiting home up there and be out there much as possible or even parts of Arizona. My poor grandkids seen something different in me so are you okay and that was irritated cuz the Cheerios smell made me so sick I had to send them a living room with my waking up my son which is his brother's children get that smell out of my room so I could go in the bathrooms I was ready to throw up like I said this medicine did a switch I never get nauseous first and ready to go throw up about severe head pain that causes me to go to the ER I don't have my toradol shot and sumatription shot. The best thing to do with the migraine is a board early and usually you have a cocktail mix the zofran anti-nausea is great to have even for head pain sometimes it helps lessen it when it's starting or other mild symptoms that are coming before head pain sometimes I just don't have head pain I know I'm getting a migraine God bless you hopefully we could tolerate Tennessee longer. It's been awfully too warm I was in Nashville yesterday and I just said wow this is way too warm I didn't have my comfortable pants my jeans are getting too hot for me but I did enjoy Indian food earlier that day and I thought this is a good day to enjoy strong smells of food went shopping in Murfreesboro where I live I got my grandkids but an hour and a half later it was a total change and switch plus I live in apartment so I have a terrible lady lives under me and she doesn't like my grandkids pounding on the floor but it's just a terrible apartment and a terrible neighbor the floor is too thin and the stress causes the migraines to come out worse but we'll try to move out my son is looking for a home in the next 6 months I love to be in the semi country be less noise and calmer for me I can enjoy the nature that helps my migraines a lot

I totally understand. I’ve been on so many different types of pills OTC and prescription. I’m waiting for my insurance to approve Emgality since they didn’t want to approve Nurtec. I’ve had migraines for 2 years now. Been to the clinic about once a month and been to the ER 8+ times. I really hoping this will work. I got scared of taking meds after March and I was taking SSRIs and got prescribed norotryptalin. I got serotonin syndrome and my boss didn’t let me go to the ER. Glad I quit but I’m ready to get some help again bc I can’t “live” like this anymore. I get 10-14 migraines every month and I’m only 20. I’ve had to quit college and work. I will be back with an update if it helps me or not

I know this video posted two years ago, but the medication is still relevant so I’m going to comment. One, I’d like to know what side effects you were talking about that you had to deal with for three weeks. I have a lot of bizarre medication sensitivities and reactions (very few are actually true allergies, but I metabolize meds differently than most). So what actually happened to you? I’m halfway through the video and I haven’t heard you expound on that yet. Two, the medication itself burns like heck going in. It isn’t a mental thing. Pressing ice or an ice pack on the injection site for 10-15 minutes before you inject it diminishes *some* of the pain and makes it a little more tolerable. But I procrastinate taking it because of the pain. Three, the worst side effect for me, aside from injection site pain, is a debilitating fatigue. It takes 24 hours for me to come back to life, so to speak, but for me, it’s because of my medical history: migraines + concussion + Covid with neurological symptoms. This causes the neurological response from Emgality. Hope you’re doing better!

I take Emgality for my Cluster Headaches and it's really helping me. Yes it hurts more than other subcotan shots. But that's nothing compared to a cluster headache attack. What it also does, it seems to pull me down in a way to where I feel much less energetic, less awake and on the edge. I have really low endurance, get out of breath fast and i feel exhausted quickly. What I also noticed is that it seems to elevate the state of depression and thus effects the state of mind. I take two 120mg per month. Without it I would be in much worse shape. So I'm thankful for it and put up with the side effects.

YES THEY DO HURT....... A LOT !!! But I have a bit of a fat belly and if you relax, I mean deep breath in and exhale a few times and really relax yourself THEN inject into your fat belly, you'll hardly feel it..... well not as much :) I was on Aimovig for 3 months first and it is amazing, for the first time in 30 years I was pain free and I was able to come off Topamax, loved it and no side effects . But it's not on the PBS in Australia so then I was put on Emgality and its no where near as good as Aimovig plus I haven't been able to come off the Topamax this time. Aimovig would have gone on the PBS by now if it wasn't for that dame covid virus, oh well. Good luck with it Geoff All the best mate

I take Aimovig have been for a few months now. I have a friend who had chronic migraine who is starting Emgality soon. My husband also suffers from chronic headaches w/severe migraines. I was thinking of having him try it as well. Aimovigs website mentions constipation as the most common side effect and injection site effects. Emgality only mentions problems at the injection site. So it's more vague. I was told by my friend that Emgality is easier to get approved. I struggled to get approved for Aimovig my neurologist was fuming it took like 2 months. No lie.

I have been on Emgality for 5 months. I will no longer continue. Injection pain is brutal. And, I'm no baby when it comes to pain after 40 years of crushing chronic migraines, I know how to manage pain. The injection is very very painful. First two months of Emgality, migraines seemed to ease but by month 3+ migraines were back to being daily but with other additional overall feelings of feeling ill and malaise. I also tried Aimovig 2019. I loved its efficacy because it seemed to eliminate at least 50 % of my migraines (I have migraines 80%-90% of the time ) but then I lost large chucks of hair by the 4th month of Aimovig. So, I stopped Aimovig too. Migraine Disease sucks.

Hi there. I'm in my sixties and had migraines since I was 10. They got markedly worse during perimenopause and I was hanging out for menopause when I hoped they might stop... didn't happen. My doctor worked with me on preventive options, as well as helping access the few abortive available here in New Zealand. Also I tried a Cefaly device, which for me intensified the migraines and seemed to sensitise the pain pathways. I had to resign from full time work after 6 months of purchasing the device. Our best successes have been in controlling the nausea and vomiting- Prochlorperazine and Ondansetron have been amazing, actually effective. 😂 Last year a different doctor suggested Medication Adaptation Headache, aka Medication Overuse Headache especially re use of Sumatriptan and Nurofen could be the issue behind Nortriptyline and Aimovig not having reducing effects on near daily intense migraines. I lived through much pain but did manage to come off the Sumatriptan and Nurofen for 3 months. A visit to the UK and a private neurologist got me on to Vydura/Nurtec and wow! Reduction to as few as 8 pain days per month... unfortunately not available in New Zealand so I'm trying the newly available here Emgality. I don't know the result yet, my message is: Don't give up, it's amazing to get your life back, and it is possible, even when the powers that be seem stacked against you. Vydura/Nurtec great for me but not available in my home country, still gotta keep trying! Do research the Medication Adaptation Headache issue if you're having near daily migraine type headaches though, Canada puts out some good info on this. Then find what works for you to get out of the pattern to allow new medications to have positive effects. 😊

I’ve only had 2 migraines in the last 10 months of doing emgality. I’m worried about wether there is nasty stuff in the shot I don’t know about. I’m definitely never getting any vaccines because big Pharma is so rotten. My naturopath said that any side affect such as constipation means there is extra stuff in the shot that could be bad for me. Apparently bio identical hormones help women not get migraines by keeping hormone levels steady so I might try stopping emgality soon and see what happens.

I think you are some what of an anomaly in that you stated you respond negatively to 95% of the drugs you've tried @ 3:36-3:39 mark. While some people do have adverse reactions to prescription drugs, 95% is pretty high and I don't think your video has much credibility due to that. I am not trying to be mean in any way, shape or form, I am just speaking my opinion. With that said, I suffered from migraine headaches from the time I was a pre-teen/teenager all the way to the present. I am currently 38 years old and have been taking Emgality for about 8 months now. It has changed my life. The needle prick is not that painful at all to me, but I also have a very high tolerance for pain, likely developed due to migraine suffering for 25 years. For me, I went from having 12-15 migraines a month (no joke) to having maybe 1-2 a month. The drug has also mitigated the intensity of my migraines when I do get them. Previously, I tried Excedrin Migraine, Sumatriptans, Zipsor (A prescription based NSAID) and Cambia (Another prescription based NSAID). The NSAID's did nothing for me, and while the Triptans would work, they had serious side effects for me. I would get very irritable, to almost rage like and other issues. Emgality has helped my migraines and does not have side effects (at least not for me). I do hope you have gotten your migraines under control as the pain is extreme.

Awesome. !! Sumatriptan medicines you mentioned are abort migraine meds not . (Reducers, lessoners or lesson days of migraines).. There is a difference. I take botox and Emgality. Been 23 days. I am not doing good on Emgality. . the first three four days of the horrible migraines rather do symmetryption everyday and one time give myself a toradol shot. I take toradol shot after my sumatriptan fails after 5 minutes and top it off if I need to with narcotic I call it the cocktail including an anti-nausea zofran and ice cold pack in the back of my head or ice water and set up halfway and relax and breathe slow sometimes I believe sideways halfway sitting up. Botox is not enough but that Emgality is risky for me my heart doc not happy about it explained to me ling term risk. . I think the issue is something sitting in my brain for 28 days so if I did have a panic attack how you going to get it out but now that it's wearing out I'm having the strangest opposite migraine attack instead of getting head pain I had horrible sensitivity to smells of food and noise without head pain and I had to give myself a triptan shot and find my antennascha I had to ask my older son to watch the grandkids cuz I'm never ever had to almost run and about thinking about throwing up in the toilet without head pain and that was the strangest feeling so I was having a switch and I know I'm due for another 28-day shot the next 4 days. This is strange usually I get head pain before severe nausea. I don't know if the medicines wearing off and there's a battle between the migraine exploding and the medicine trying to hold it down but I do know when things that causes inflammation. I can always try another cgrp medicine and give it one more try. . So happy that it's working for you.

The best thing that happens abort kit which is like a cocktail if one wasn't working you work on number two then three then you go on for trying these medicines that help lessen the days, or lessen the intensity,... And the goal hopefully is to knock out most migraines of 30 days. Some people expect to be completely gone but when I say lesson intensity does not mean your migraines not there but they're there but not as strong so you get to use milder medicines to knock it out the best thing to do with migraines is to abort it before it grows. Go down a list of what you tried like anti-seizures things like that but I'm trying cgrp but I don't like it I've been keeping notes of everything cuz it stays in me for 28 days and have other issues with my health hope you find something cuz it's horrible. What you describe but feeling weird is that causes anxiety panic attack just felt like there's a bad drug in you that means that you're having a horrible side effect know your body and keep notes of everything. They try to give me inapsine see at the emergency many many I had panic attack and and struggled the whole year. Haloperidol, I had two years ago at the ER feel like I took a bad drug for 2 days and had to take anti-flammatories until it come out of my system those are the medicines in an antipsychotic family like phenergan I won't take that with anything. If I take sumatriptan injections, toradol, zofran, narcotic ice pack in the back of my head and sit up halfway and breathe slowly don't lay completely down and that my family watch me I just don't wait till migraines grow like a monster abort it before it grows and know your body well does not hurt to try medicines that will lesson, lesson intensity, or lesson days or all three. Doctors don't really say that medicines will lessen the intensity... If they listen intensity that's an improvement that may not lessen the amount of days but if it goes to lessening amount of days and that's not bad. Don't pay medicines at your pocket there are ways that these companies can help you pay zero out of your pocket. Hope you find what helps .. no one medicine can knock out sometimes it takes one or two I'm having Botox but the doctor is trying cgrp but I'm not I'm going to knock it out cuz it's just not doing well. I tried anti-seizures which is not good for kidney stones. I tried other medicines but there's more new medicines and even patches that could put around my arm there's so much out there we don't know but when you're with the migraine specialist it's different than a neurologist. I pray you find something better and that God will heal you

Sumatriptan 100mg tablets 5-6 times a week - they're the only thing I've found after trialing ~25+ different migraine meds that help more than they hurt. I also take Promethazine 12.5mg tablets for head pain, but more primarily for nausea.

Those are severe side effects do not take those medicine again keep a good diary it may take a while before it gets out of your body and they even take months. I found out that anything that's antipsychotic shots and gave me at the ER I was allergic to them it's because I had migraines so I make sure they don't give me anything that's an antipsychotic family

I was on emgality for three months. I had only 3 migraines the 1st month, all in last week (so it wore off in 3rd week for me, too). I began having awful symptoms after 3rd shot. Been in bed for 5 months now. Check out pages and pages of bad emgality reviews at drugs.com, which I wish I'd read b4 injecting this! I truly feel like I'm slowly dying.

Anything with shots do not bother me ling as abort it ...pass the digestion process. It is the medicine stays 28 days iny Brian bothers me. Keep a diary and report to your primary doctor of anything that's unusual. There's always new medicines that are that's harmful to immune system. I talked to my heart doctor he wasn't happy about what I'm taking but I'm going to get off my cgrp I only been on it three and a half weeks. Not been good for me. Only on half weeks I felt ok .
