Why do people speak about these people as more than the people of Iraq, Syria, or Yemen. Their lives and families matter too although Western media has done a very good job of making sure you don’t identify with them.

In every war, innocent people, women, children and innocent animals die, just for someone's interest. It is selfish to judge others, start from yourself. When there was a war in my country, everyone was silent too, but I did not lose faith in goodness because of that, and I would never be silent about the horror I see, wherever it happens. Ukraine is proving that all a nation needs is the heart of its people. They are standing alone against tyranny and doing a helluva job for what they had to begin with. Ukrainians are an inspiration to the world. When this is over I wanna do what I can to get there and help rebuild. No wife or children, seems like the right move. I did it for Katrina no reason to not do it again.

May God be with all those who had to leave their homes and pets behind..and those who stayed to take care of all who could not leave.. I pray for that beatiful country and its brave people. Love from Croatia

Did the dogs have loving owners and homes if they were abandoned by them?

All of those dogs owners should have stayed just like he did, or better yet took their dogs with them.

They need to be very careful. Russian Army can easily come back to Kiev to attack. Some other Ukrainian animal caretaker was killed a while ago by Russian soldiers. Be safe and god bless everyone.

I changed my wording, “had to be left behind” to read “left behind.” They’re having a rough time as it is, I didn’t see a need to pile on under the circumstances. I’ve had as many as 3 rescue dogs at the same time and I would not consider leaving them behind. Unfortunately some people were faced with making that choice. So sad. I hope I was able to explain my personal feelings on the matter.
