Yea like how a rat chewed through my 430i knock sensor wire when I left the car sitting for 2 weeks. Dealer wanted $3752 to fix the issue because they needed to replace the entire engine harness. Went to a indy bmw shop, owner was a ex master tech in New Jersey he said the wire has a pigtail and that's all I needed not a new harness. He replaced the pigtail for $250.

The mechanics who did all this job probably got paid 250$ for the day, the parts costed around 1k, but the labor cost to the owner of the car is around 7-9k easily 😭😭

What about equipment leases, shop rent, utilities, and insurance. People pocket watch these mechanics way too much there are more expenses than just parts and labor. These shops are businesses and should be viewed as such.
