This week, we take a look at the new Aqua Terra. Combining 2 decades of enhancements, this watch is dripping with delicious details. The question is: Could this be the last watch you need?

I visited the San Francisco Omega boutique today. I was served champagne and treated like a millionaire. I'm retiring in a few months, and owe myself a present. The hostess gushed over my Citizen Eco-Drive placed on the counter. I tried on several variations of the Aqua Terra. We narrowed my field of interest. The Small Seconds shown in this video will be the last watch I will ever need. WatchCrunch guy, you rock.

@@mikaxms Agreed. I just came across this small seconds Omega AT model on Sunday. By Monday night I had ordered it directly from the Omega website. It was in my hands on Thursday afternoon. It was kind of nice to settle on a watch you really want, and just order it right then. No hoops to jump through, no preferred customer only nonsense. It was in stock on their website, and me as a first time Omega buyer, purchased it right then and there. Couldn't be more pleased with the watch, and with Omega in general.

Thank you for the excellent video, I just picked up a blue face Aqua Terra 41 on blue strap, after a long time of lusting after it. The small hands is an excellent version and I like it nearly as much, your visualization of the movement is something I haven't seen on any other channel. Will be watching more of your videos.

I really love this watch. Tried it on at an AD. The colorway presents quite bright, by that I mean it looks almost sparkly. Tough decision between this and the green with a central second. I think the green has a slightly more business look, whilst the small second is more casual. Not a fan of the PCL on the green dial, but could imagine it on a rubber strap

One of the best watch channels! Love your content man! I looked at this piece in person at a boutique and pictures just don't do it justice. It's such a gorgeous piece. I just wish it came in 38mm. I think the 41mm case and thickness is a little too large for my wrists. Must prefer a sub 40mm case so that it can be more subtle.

Brilliant review! Bravo! This model has a magical aspect to it - on top of everything you said, due to its face design - the contrasting outer ring and the small seconds section - looks smaller on the wrist than the central seconds model, which makes it suitable for your and my 6.5 inches wrists! In this way we can enjoy all the advantages of the 41mm model with the 8916 caliber, including the ability to independently set the hour hand. Brilliant!

As an owner of the previous AT Blue w/o subdial, gotta say prev AT is a strong GADA contender. The 2500 mvt variant has sloping case crown guards which I find a more appealing case, and fully brushed bracelet which tops off a super GADA contender as well. Great review M...thanks for sharing!

Nice video and concept. I prefer the older model, the Aqua Terra with the horizontal teak marks. Yeah this particular pretty blue dial caught my attention. That rubber strap with the on the fly adjustment gives it a smart casual appearance I guess you could buy the bracelet version for a more formal look but I don’t really like Omega bracelets so the rubber would get my vote. The small seconds aperture doesn’t bother me, this after all being a sports orientated piece not a JLC MUT Moon for example. Shame Omega just jacked their prices, but I’d expect a healthy discount anyway for a shop window piece. Great review.

You picked the right watch company. I collect vintage Omega watches . I am wearing 1943 steel black face sub-dial Omega. it is a manual wind 15 jewel movement. Being a war watch it is definitely not a dress watch. Another Omega is my 1944 18k 17 jewels rose gold bumper automatic. Being like you, I have small wrists. Modern watches look too big. I might as well an Invicta. it is just that noticeable. The 1943 and 1944 are both about 34mm. That really looks tailored on my wrist. I wear gold for dress and steel every day. My Omega run from 1934 to 1964.

Agree with so much of your take. Naturally it’s all opinion, but it is a great watch, amazing dial, snd movement snd I even agree with your complaint about the small seconds dial. It does stand out too much. Even agree about the size, but I won’t go below 40mm. Watches are small enough already and the 38mm just doesn’t look right to my eyes. However, I actually prefer the Aqua Terra without the sundial. Lastly, I’d never recommend such a common brand, but that’s me. In fact, I avoid recommendations to newbies because my taste will not be theirs.

It's a nice option to have although prefer the standard version personally on the bracelet. Only disappointment I find with Aqua Terras is the lume on the hands is hard to read. Yes. There is so much to like about the recent iteration. From the case size, dial enhancements, to the solid bracelet. I encourage you to test drive this very special offering from Rolex.

I like the AT, though my GADA is the 2500 PO. A great all-arounder.

PO is a tough Mfer 👍

Are the straps interchangeable? So could you buy it with the rubber strap but switch to a metal?

Yes you can

While I can understand your reasoning behind preferring a small-seconds dial over centre-seconds (and I happen to agree with time-only dress watches), I'm honestly not a fan of the sub-dial design on the 41mm models, both for its contrasting chapter ring and the way the date juts out the bottom of the ring (this is less noticable on the silver dial variant). If the 41mm used the much simpler 38mm sun-dial (the non-diamond one, anyway) I think I'd be a little more interested, but otherwise it's the centre-secpnds model for me. All of that said, everything else that you said to describe the Aqua Terra Small-seconds also describes the "regular" Aqua Terra, and are the reasons why I agree that the entire Aqua Terra line can be considered the best GADA watch on the market. Also, when you were listing some alternatives, you left out the best one: the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium.

GADA?

@@SD-vy9ek He explains it in the opening seconds of the video; it stands for "Go Anywhere, Do Anything". I've also heard them described as "beach to boardroom" watches, for their ability to be dressed up in a suit, yet also worn in casual settings (and also why at least 100m WR is recommended).

This is a great video and I fully agree with your take, just one thing: I think the music starting around 1:50 is a bit loud and competing a bit with your voiceover.
