This model G-shock is in my top 3 favourite list. It's not too large, not too fancy. It's affordable, robust and reliable, which makes it one of the most practical G-shocks out there!

It also has a positive display that’s easy to read and solar. Those two features automatically put it above most G Shocks coming out now.

I realize this video is well over 4 years old, but thanks for the informative and positive review. My cheapo($15) Casio beater watch used for yard work, gym, carpentry, etc. is over 3 years old with a strap that’s hanging on by a thread. I figured a new strap as well as new battery would obviously be cost prohibitive……….So, I finally pulled the trigger on this gw6900 and just received it from Best Buy who matched Amazon’s price and I love the watch! I know I will have at least 10+ years of durability and accuracy with this watch and won’t have to worry about battery replacement. Thanks again for the review and keep up the good work.

It’s crazy that even 3yrs later this watch is still in the top 3 world wide. It still holds the #1 spot in Japan. The GA-100 and GA-110 edged it out in the global scene but it is still iconic.

Best watch I have ever own. I have had mine for about 4 years now, and I am still on my first battery. It is very robust, tough, and comfortable to wear. Unlike my previous watches that usually break within 6 months (my last watch broke during a lacrosse game after taking a shot to it, and the one prior broke during practice, again after taking a shot to it), this one has been able to withstand lacrosse shots and physical training. The fact that the screw holding the band in place has been the only thing to give out over the last four years (happened last summer), shows just how resilient of a watch it is. I can confidently say that whenever my current watch does eventually break, whether that be today or 10 years from now (**knock on wood**), I will purchase another G-shock watch like this one.

Keine Sorge GW 6900 ist über 25 Jahre und funktioniert immernoch. Einzig das Cover (Bezel, Lünette) fehlt inzwischen weil die Weichmacher raus sind und es gebrochen ist. Das Armband ist noch das erste. Und meine Uhr wird auch nicht geschont😉

My favorite G Shock model! Sold it twice and had to rebuy it for a final time. No other watch can compare when it comes to legibility and it's intuitive button layout/set up process.

I bought the G6900, exactly like this just without the multiband 6. At the time I was looking to buy the DW 6900, but this beauty caught my eyes, and for a few dollars more, I could have one. So I bought one. Literally my go to watch 8 out of 10 times. My squares are almost never been worn ever since.

I just bought this G-Shock today after looking at several versions of the GW2310 and GWM500. They all have the same functions, for the most part, but the GW6900 just felt and fit better on my wrist. Great video, mate!

Purchased this watch back in October of 2016. Originally got it as an alternative to wearing my Seiko Diver (my daily driver) when performing more aggressive tasks. Strangely found myself wearing this one more and more because I could be fearless with it. Happened across this video through the disjointed world of KZfaq links. Great video. It reminded me of all the things this watch is capable of. Thanks!

The GW-6900 is a tough cookie. I own 2 of them, both purchased secondhand for peanuts. A black one, with well used band and bezel, working flawlessly. According to the serial number, it is made in 2009.. And a white one, with a rotted out band and faded bezel, but a perfect module. Made in 2010..😊 Both charging perfectly, keeping their charge effortlessly, syncing flawlessly. Casio at it’s best. I will be refurbishing the whiting with a new band and bezel, it deserves it!

Thanks for your video! It convinced me to hunt down a gw 6900 locally. USA prices are good but shipping and the will to transport it over to Europe are insane! Finally found one local seller and received it just yesterday. Have to play around with some more. Thanks to your excellent video i've noticed it synced okay by radio and the power is on hi-setting. great video. I already owned a GW6900 but my oldest son talked me out of it.I'm a pushover to my offspring. Found this video to be the most comprehensible of all videos on this model.Bought another 6900 because I think its the best solar/atomic model Casio sells. I own a GW3000bb1 and it does no better but costs more. Keep instructive concise vids coming.

Hi. Great video. I ordered one of these a couple of weeks ago, and it came on Monday. It’s a fantastic watch, and my fourth G-Shock that I own. I love the futuristic look of them. The problem is that they are so addictive. I will probably get another. Also, with the colour of the writing, they remind me of the Neo Tokyo edition which celebrates the film Akira, which is my favourite anime. All the best.😉👍🏾🇬🇧

My only issue with this watch was the time sync. I just pulled up online world time and matched it to online. My range man picks up from my house no problem. I don’t now how that can be if they are using the same system or maybe a different one. idk. Also my watch came blank. Battery was dead. I did see a lot of people have this issue out the box. I have a solar charger(led light of Amazon) I used to charge it. I left it on the light for a full day now my battery reads full. So will see how this goes. I love the watch and wanna keep it. But thanks for the setup. Definitely help me understand a little better.

Thanks for showing the solar charge cell @7:00. It's nice to know when/where Casio clears it away from the LCD like that. Perhaps they could do so without consequence since the background is black. Ironically, I just saw a marketing photo of this model where the camera had been turned just enough to catch the solar screen, making it look like it had a low contrast purple dial instead of black. I looked at a regular 6900 today in a store (the inexpensive DW model). These are small watches by G-Shock standards. I'm firstly drawn to squares for that reason, and really think most of the rounds are grotesque but this series is very compelling, I'm not yet onboard with the "fake roundness" of the 5700 series, but could see myself picking one of these up now, and also think this watch is a better value for its features, display layout, and appearance over the GW-M5610 for similar money. For rounds especially, I'd be happy with this and a Gulfman (the 9100; not really interested in the 9110 despite extra features.)

Good video. There is an updated "U" variant of the DW-8900 with an LED light. But not of the GW-6900 (yet). Another difference between the DW and the GW: The GW-6900 has three letter day of the week display (witch I prefer) vs only two on the DW (as on most G-Shocks).

Very nice video. Looking at the manual is overwhelming and so what better place to go than KZfaq!? Now I'm an expert thanks to you man! Also I didn't know the code on the back can help you to figure out the age of your watch. Super cool, and glad I know that now. I'm sure you know of this... But I'll share my secret knowledge of the watches and hope someone benefits from it. Ok ok, so this is just to test the watch and make sure it's working properly. Hold down A (top left), B (top right), and C (bottom left) this will show TLT and is for testing when the backlight comes on. (On wrist) Whenever you check the time and the light is supposed to come on, you'll see 8888 show up. This second test is to check your solar panel. Hold down A, B, D and SLR will appear. Test under sunlight, regular light and 8888 will appear if all is working normal. Hope this was useful to someone and to all, have a beautiful day!!

I think the "regular" 6900 has the alarm that can be scheduled to sound in a particular day or month, and white running stw shows the current time

Great video. I just replaced the ctl 1616 (capacitor) with a cr1616 battery in my 6900. Just to let people know that this works. $5 vs $60 CAN . Obviously it is no longer solar and the battery may have to be replaced more often, but you can buy a cr1616 anywhere.

I purchased one after watching your vid. It's on the way to my hand soon. I tried the DW6900 at a watch shop today, same size with the GW6900, and I found that my wrist is a bit too small to wear it. But I still love the way it feel and I'm looking forward to seeing my watch GW6900-1 in hopefully one or two days. Thanks for your informative introduction.

@@WatchGeek I received the GW6900-1 yesterday. I'm totally satisfied with the watch. It's really thick and heavy comparing with my old Garmin Viviofit 3. Every eye of the watch is functional and works very well. On time keeping screen, the numbers look sharp and very easy to see. Solar panel is also an advantage of the time keeper. It's black and it's sparkling beautifully. But not a surprise, time auto-adjusting via multi band 6 is not functional in my area, which is Hanoi, Vietnam.

From a functional standpoint my Timex Ironman uses the whole face of the watch which makes it easier to read as oppose to my G shock.

Just got mine today from Amazon and so far I like it a lot. I will get a nato band with adapters for a new band. My only concern is my date code is 144B ! According to the chart that means this watch and battery was made in 2012 ?? :/ already a decade old!

This is a really great video, very informative for a potential buyer like myself. One recommendation would be to include some details on the watch band (strap) itself.
