yes, I keep listening and listening - so much about this song is just spot on perfect, in shaping, lyrics, phrasing, rendering.

My favorite full band version is the Paste Studios one. The shuffle beat and the chord Andrew plays after "beat their chests and swear they're gonna rise again" kills it. This version has a sweeter bass sound, though.

I know that I am "way late" to this party. But, I love this! Absolutely! I am "drawn" to this... And, the story of Dr. Warren. "Where danger is, dear mother, there must your son be. Now is no time for any of American’s children to shrink from any hazard. I will set her free or die." - Dr. Joseph Warren When the British taunted that the patriots wouldn’t fight, he declared, “I hope I shall die up to my knees in blood!” Joseph Warren is forever stamped in our minds as the hero who lost his life on Bunker Hill, at the early age of 34. Brave men fall with a battle cry Tears fill the eyes of their loved ones and their brothers in arms So it went, for Joseph Warren It should have been different, it could have been easy His rank could have saved him, but a country unborn needs bravery And it spread like wildfire....

Brave men fall with a battle cry Tears fill the eyes of their loved ones And their brothers in arms So it went, for Joseph Warren It should have been different It could have been easy His rank could have saved him But a country unborn needs bravery And it spread like wildfire Wildfire From the ashes grew sweet liberty Like the seeds of the pines when the forest burns They open up, grow and burn again It should have been different It could have been easy But too much money rolled in To ever end slavery The cry for war spread like wildfire Wildfire Wildfire Civil War came, Civil War went Brother fought brother, the South was spent But it's true demise was hatred Passed down through the years It should have been different It could have been easy But pride has a way of holding too firm to history And it burns like wildfire Wildfire Wildfire I was born a southern son In a small southern town where the rebels run wild They beat their chest and they swear We're gonna rise again It should have been different It could have been easy The day that old Warren died Hate should have gone with him But here we are, caught in the wildfire Wildfire Wildfire Wildfire Wildfire

There's a small music venue in Winchester in the UK called The Railway. I love the place. It's everything a small music venue should be, and it's right near my house. I had tickets to see this band Mandolin Orange play there. I saw the listing on the venue's website and thought they sounded like my sort of thing. I bought one album to try and get into them a little - Such Jubilee, quickly followed by another This side of Jordan, quickly followed by another Quiet Little Room. By the time the show came around, they were my new favourite band, and I was listening to them on pretty much constant rotation... It turned out my wife had tickets to go and see Carlos Acosta with her sister on the same night, so I stayed home and looked after the children. I like to think that my empty chair had a wonderful night. I hope I get the opportunity again. These days I just call them my favourite band.

Tragic that you didn't get to see them. But family must come first! I'm in UK and hope to see them live, too! And listen to their song called 'Time to Make Time'. Perfect for lock-down! Best wishes

Absolutely amazing song. Joseph Warren was a founding father who fought in the revolutionary war, but later in the song alludes to Warren’s hate didn’t die with him and carried over into the civil war and people of the south. Just thought it was an interesting connection. I’m ashamed to say I just recently discovered these amazing artists and can’t get enough. Please keep making amazing music.

I’ve been listening to Watchouse fka Mandolin Orange for several years now thanks to my young son-in-law Zach and his wonderful taste in music. I too was instantly drawn to this Poignant song with it’s amazing lyrics and beautiful harmony. I’ve listened to it dozens and dozens of times and as a history buff, it really speaks to me on a deep level. So grateful to this group.
