Absolutely love Vivianne Miedema! She's a fantastic player and a phenomenal representative for the sport. Gutted that Arsenal had so many injuries this season. They were really making a run at the Champions League trophy this year. Kudos to Wolfsburg for their performance, and congratulations to Barcelona on their victory. On to next season!

Hello StuntPegg, I've been following your channel for quite some time now, and I must say it's fantastic, as I am a passionate person when it comes to football, English, and football in general. When it comes to women's football, it has been a constant struggle, but in recent years, sufficient value has been given to women practicing this sport. In Colombia, women's football has been professional since 2017 with the establishment of the Women's Professional Football League, where we have achieved more accomplishments than in men's football. The same goes for the national team. Last year, in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, the Colombian team made it to the final against Spain, a football powerhouse. I hope you can explore the world of football from this corner of the planet. Greetings from Colombia. I hope you can continue making these types of videos that contribute not only to women's football but also to society.

If you want to compare the men's and women's teams you should first get them to play each other. You will then see just how 'accomplished' the women are...
@alexdeath2250

@@xenomorph6961 not sure you're getting it. The women's game was banned for 50 years! Why? Because it was more popular than the men's game at that time drawing crowds of 50,000 and more in the 1920s. During this season the Arsenal Womens average attendance is higher than that of the Premier League. Is that not accomplishment? If you're intent on reducing the comparison of the sport to simply "who's a better baller" it is risky to presume the men's team would win so emphatically, even with 50 years of growth as a head start.

Here in the US, women's football has had the benefit of our title 9 that supports girls' school sport at the youth level. There is still a lot to do in terms of improving the conditions of the game as well as changing some of the animosity towards women's sport. Definitely looking forward to the WWC this year!!

What a great game to broadcast the quality and immense growth in the women's game and what a great comeback win for Barca! Gotta say it's been a real privilege to see how much the game has grown over the years (I'll admit I was a little late to the party, my first tournament was the World Cup in 2015). The incredible potential for it to grow even more is super exciting and I hope there is a continued press for investment especially from the major footballing organisations. I can't wait to see our Lionesses (The Proud European Champions I have to add), back in action at this years World Cup next month.

It is also not as interesting to watch as the under 16s or 18s, that used to get lots of limelight at clubs, in the FA youth cup for example, yet somehow, a slower, less dynamic women's game, seems to get all the fanfare and centre stage. I wonder how that makes the youth men's feel ? How it might affect their future ?

Just last weekend the final of the mexican professional women's league was held at Azteca Stadium with 55K people in the audience, more than the people who attended the male's final (two weeks ago). Granted, the stadium of the male's final has less capacity and if it were bigger it would have had much more people there, but still, 55 thousand fans is quite impressive, even for a male team. Womens Football is so fun to watch. It really is a shame that FIFA and UEFA don't support them more. Here in Germany it isn't even safe to say if the World Cup this year will be broadcasted on TV cause FIFA demands insanely much money (as usually), which the Public Broadcasting Service isn't willing to pay

it can be fun but it will never be equal to men because it's too slow and it lacks pace, power and phisicality that's why almost nobody watches it and as result it generates no money and to be honest nothing they can do it's natural thing men are stronger that's why they will never reach these levels

You sorta have it the wrong way round, due to criticism FIFA are trying to equalise the prize money between the men's and women's world cup by 2027 (in fact they have promised to do so iirc) which means they need to generate more money.. This world cup they are trying to push it to $152m or so, men's last year was $440m, so they will need a big increase for 2027. The only way they can really do that is to increase sponsorships and of course... ask for loads more money from broadcasters. As a result broadcasters are saying 'no thanks' as it does not reflect value for money and so they will struggle to even meet the $152m this year, let alone get anywhere near $440m in 2027 (probably more as the next men's world cup will likely exceed $440m) Basically, this big push for 'equal pay' is what is causing the problems, and entirely foreseeable of course.

@@abdelrahmanlfc8280 "almost nobody watches it and as a result it generates no money"? What an ignorant thing to say. Were all those people that filled Wembley and Camp Nou nobodies in your eyes? Media companies keep paying more and more for broadcasting rights not because they have to millions spare, but because people want to watch it and they make money from showing it. So far, a million nobodies have bought tickets for the next women's World Cup in Australia/New Zealand. Men being stronger doesn't necessarily make for a better spectacle, there are plenty of boring men's games, games where they drop like they're shot from the breeze created by an opposition player and writhe on the ground for a minute, while the replay shows no contact at all. Then there's the agro towards officials and from spectators plus the ridiculous amount required for a ticket to watch that rubbish.

I do think women's football is getting bigger and bigger and I hope the new owners putt them in high priority since we are in pole position. They should put this game later as they do all the European finals, it would be Europa league then next Saturday women's UCL, then Conference and the last Saturday the men's final. This being played at 4 clashed with the FA cup final and F1

I’ve been following the women’s game for many years now, I would say from 2015 or just before. It’s great to see the growth in the sport and talent finally been seen by the masses, it’s still on the rise and many things still have to change to improve and help the players. I’ve even hooked my dad now that on Saturday he chose to watch the women’s champions league instead of the fa cup final.

Women’s football deserves to be more reconigized when I was covering the local matches at my community college this past year. Each time I had my radio show I always shouted out the women’s football team and also was able to do color commentary for them as well and the team ended up winning the championship. Love support women’s football it’s super fun to watch

Why does it "deserve" to be more recognised? That's ridiculous. Nobody or nothing "deserves" to be successful unless it genuinely is. People are not being deliberately sexist about women's football. The fact of the matter is it's simply light years behind the men's game in almost every factor. It's almost a different sport so it's got to start at the bottom and convince more and more people that it's worth watching. If more of you women got out there and genuinely followed it like men follow THEIR teams (religiously in Europe and South America) then you'll get the recognition you deserve. Until then this woke rubbish from FIFA and EUFA of trying to pay equal prize money will only backfire on the women's game, believe me.

The game was revolutionized when the major European Clubs took on women’s teams. Since then the game has grown massively, but more importantly, has gained credibility. When judged on its own merits, and not the neanderthal comparisons to the men’s game, then you realize what a great game women’s football is. It has been exciting to see it explode in the last few years, and the players getting the credit they deserve.
@GermoDante
@GermoDante 11 ай бұрын
It's own merits? Women's football is not only subsidized by men's but is also being aggressively pushed by teams to chase ESG ratings. If we judge it by its own merits, competition wise it might be fine (For now, trans athletes might become a problem in the future), but as a spectacle it fails massively, low skill, intensity, terrible player quality in defense and in goal, etc. Women's football has grown massively in exposure and professionalism, but that exposure hasn't improved its credibility, it's actually the opposite.

I will always get goosebumps watching major Women's football finals and hearing that the chants are dominantly sang by female voices. Of course I want everyone to be a fan and support women's sports. But there is just an amazing environment created when you see lil girls come with their teammates and friends and see for the first time that there are women playing professionally on the pitch that are being surrounded and backed by thousands of other women in the stands. I'm American and I remember as a lil girl watching Brandi Chastain's iconic 1999 world cup goal celebration and having my friends and I recreating the moment in practice often, dreaming of a day where we could do the same. That moment inspired us so much (and still does tbh), so to see the sport grow so much and have girls get to see so much more representation just makes me so excited for the sport.

Womens football was not banned in the U.K. until 1971, the FA did not allow female football on it’s members grounds, that’s 92 stadiums, it could be played anywhere else and indeed ladies games were played on Luton town’s ground during the Second World War.

Why does Viv Miedema sound Scottish to me!?? Aside from that, I love the coverage of the women's game. I've been a Sheff Utd Womens season ticket holder this year, after watching the Euros semi final at Bramall Lane. The only reason I'm not renewing it is because I've not been able to go to half the games, but I'll still go to as many as I can, and maybe even a few of the men's PL fixtures!
