Fun fact: While never said in the movie, it's pretty much confirmed that Shimo causing the Ice Age is what ended up freezing Ghidorah in Antarctica. She likely caused it while Godzilla and Ghidorah were battling and either she was a participant or farther away. Also a sad theory is that the crystal on Skar King's whip came from Shimo's offspring that the Skar King killed. The crystal is likely meant for the offspring to vibrate in order to alert the mother it's in danger which causes the pain in order to get Shimo's attention.

This whole movie is basically when you’re a kid playing with your action figures in the craziest fights possible, and I absolutely loved this movie for it!

The apes actually were sealed. Remember, when fighting the wolf-creatures, Kong opened up a fissure to a lower, uncharted part of Hollow Earth. That fissure is what allowed the trapped apes to come up to the known part of Hollow Earth and destroy the Monarch base. Kong wasn't around for their arrival because he was on the surface, seeing his dentist.

You guys complaining about "not enough monsters" is so wierd considering we get more time with them than ever. The human plot is actually important and done well this time too. You dont seem to be vibing with the movie enough to truly pay attention. Monarch is a scientific organization, not military. Small teams to Hollow Earth are ideal. You don't wanna go there all big and obvious looking for a fight. Also Hollow Earth isn't just one big empty space. That's silly. There's lots of other pockets. Like a honeycomb. And Skar King was imprisoned in a deep part of Hollow Earth until Kong's trap was triggered and an opening emerged. Also Kong was asking Suko to lead him to the other apes, not trying to give him the knife. And Godzilla wasn't "scared of the monkeys". There use to be a massive army of them and he imprisoned them. Stop inferring things. You always have such a negative take. EDIT: "Was that suppose to help? They were about to fight." Uh the Iwi used the pyramids to distrupt gravity temperorary. They like explained this a few moments before. The point is to stop Skar King, his army, and Shimo from reaching the surface. There has to be a logic to what the characters are doing. THEY are not concerned with seeing a cool monster fight. You complain alot about lack of logic in the movie but it's usually just because you missed something or you're not understanding it.

TOHO has always had different versions of Godzilla. Three eras(Showa, Heisei and Millennium) of TOHO Godzilla movies that inspired the Monsterverse and a couple that inspired Minus One/Shin like the 1954 Godzilla and "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack " . I loved them then and I still love them now equally, even the new stuff. It's all Godzilla and he remains king . Wish they would watch the older TOHO movies.

It’s a very very different movie than Minus One. Definitely have to take them both for what they are. Each embraces a portion of Godzilla history in different ways.

In the old Godzilla movies and Mothra movies, there were these two female twins called the Shobijin that have a sort of song/prayer thing, but they also communicated with Mothra on some deeper level. In the 2019 KOTM Godzilla movie, they play an instrumental song that is the same song the Shobijin sing when Mothra changes from larva form to Mothra under the waterfall. It's a great homage/waster egg to the old movies.

Iwi people ( Jia's people) lived on Skull island, the closest thing to hollow earth on the surface so it's no surprise if a group of them went to the surface.

I love the natural progression of the bond between Kong and Suko. Even with that "I'll beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker" moment. And the fact that Jia was prophesized as a hero who can rouse Mothra from her slumber is amazing, same with her meeting other members of her tribe. Also, I not only love the "Aw, shut up" punch on the ape annoyingly running his mouth a few seconds before Kong met Skar King, but the part where Kong lobs a rock and creams the one ape in the head. Fun fact: Dan Stevens also played The Beast in the remake of Beauty And The Beast.

This film is the perfect popcorn movie. As a King Kong fan this was awesome to watch in the theaters, I freaking love Godzilla's new form I'm going to call it Godzilla Rose. This movie gave us Godzilla and Kong, Mothra finally together, all I can say to that is Long live the Kings and Queen of Monsters!

It's seriously annoying whenever People say that Humans are not important in the Monsterverse more often than not Humans are propelling the narrative of the plot forward or are expanding the lore of the world by explaining it to us. Even in the first movie Humans were doing that in Godzilla 2014 Doctor Ishiro Serizawa exlapined to how these creatures worked expanding the lore and Lieutenant Ford Brody saved Godzilla's life from the Mother and Father M.U.T.O by blowing up the nest preventing them from bringing M.U.T.O babies into the world and distracting them long enough for the King of the Monsters to recover and beat them. In Skull Island the Humans are responsibly for causing the Skullcrawlers to emerge from the under ground which is what starts the narrative of the plot Humans also aid Kong in the battle against the Skulldevil. In Godzilla King of the Monsters Humans once again kick off the narrative of the plot and save Godzilla's life twice. In Godzilla vs Kong Humans once again kick off the narrative of the plot by creating Mechagodzilla and transporting Kong from Skull Island to an entrance of the Hollow Earth Humans also save Kong's life four times and save Godzilla's life twice because a Human convinces Kong to save Godzilla's life before Mechagodzilla can kill him and another Human group ruins the computer controlling Mechagodzilla allowing the two Alpha Titans to gain the upper hand against the machine. And in this Movie the roll of the Humans is more important they ever but you two seem so absolutely determined to ignore the importance of Humanity it's ridiculous.

Don’t forget that there used to be AN ENTIRE TRIBE of those Hollow Earth people on Skull Island. The young girl is just the last surviving member of that tribe that was on Skull Island.

the vet character was actually a former trapper. the mini kong is named suko and the little lizard character that was trying steal kong's food was titanous doug. the human element was more on the serious side in minus one and godzilla was more the monster and an enemy compared to how he is in the monsterverse movies. overall new empire gets an 8/10 and minus one gets a 10/10. both are great movies which i like how you compared them to having a steak compared to a hamburger which now you both talking about it made me hungry. lol.

Fun fact: Tiamat(the dragon snake titan in the artic) and Scylla(the giant squid crab titan that Godzilla fought in the beginning of the film) had appeared before in the prequel comics of the movies called Godzilla Dominion (a prequel comic to Godzilla vs Kong) and Godzilla X Kong the Hunted(the prequel comic to This movie) and in Godzilla King Of The Monsters, in the Background of the Film

Fun fact: The in Universe reason Godzilla Sleeps in the Colosseum is because it reminds him of his old home The Underwater Temple in Godzilla King of the Monsters which was destroyed during his resurrection in the movie.

Yay!! This is THE BEST Monsterverse movie hands down. It does everything right and it's FINALLY EVERYTHING we've been waiting for from this franchise! No more extremely dark scenes for 99% of the movie, no more fight scenes edited into oblivion and chopped in with human stuff that novody could care less about. This movie had the perfect band of humans with a good storyline for onc and a team that finally nailed the vibe. The themes of lost and found family with jia and Kong's stories mirroring one another, genius. The kong representative of the best of humanity up against the foe skar king that represents the worst of humanity as a foil, brilliant and amazing. The long scenes with absolutely no dialogue being led by these characters was FANTASTIC and this movie had the BEST intros to new characters. Just flawless. It made me think of how everyone was so upset the live action lion king featured emotionless puppets instead of real characters but this movie did an amazing job with their humanism and characterization. From the very beginning in the intro of this movie, it already had the best Godzilla fight scene of the entire franchise because Godzilla was a BEAST, the pacing was smooth, and like i said it wasnt over edited or cut with human garbage it was BREATHABLE. The way this movie was BRILLIANT in tying in Kong's history with canonically having electric powers so it's explained with a robot arm!! Sick!! I'm upset people keep calling that convenient, I just really think it's practical in this universe. World-building wise, this movie kinda NAILS IT for the world this franchise has created and how far robotics has come especially. It's honestly just GOOD WRITING. Really REALLY good writing!! This movie has just phenomenal tracking shots like for real i could go on forever!! People can have their opinions but this movie is objectively the best and most well-done in this franchise.😊

im sorry minus one is about nukes its not a godzilla movie. the monsterverse is like the Showa ERA AKA THE GOAT ERA for godzilla. these films have actual lore in them ill take anything that resembles showa era godzilla

I like both and I think the biggest distinction is that for Americans godzilla has always been a novelty, a plaything to be like whoa so cool. For Japan, godzilla started out as heavy social commentary evoking fear and evolved into a hero in certain iterations. I enjoy them both, American godzilla is very much a product of current Hollywood whereas big explosions make bigger dollars and the passion projects of minus one and shin godzilla really bring hone the message..and the dollars

Godzilla Minus one seems like the exception of all these movies. People actually like the human element in that from what I keep hearing. Everyone complained about the humans having too much screentime in all the other movies. They were uninteresting for the most part and we wanted to see more monsters. Also, if I'm being honest, I'm not coming to these movies to see humans. I don't really care as much about seeing a human storyline as I do about seeing monsters. If its a good storyline ten great, but the star(s) of the show aren't humans. In this one, they decided to focus more on monsters rather than the human storyline which I enjoyed. I was a lil bit into the storyline about the humans who live down in Hollow Earth though. That was nice. The other thing to note though is that you kinda have to focus on humans more if its a Godzilla movie. Godzilla can't carry a movie on his own without having a human storyline to focus on. All he does is sleep, wake up and fight, feed every now and then, and then go back to sleep. Kong on the other hand, can actually carry pretty much a whole movie on his own. Or at least half of it. His interactions with humans and other monsters is very human like. You can actually read his emotions and behavior without him speaking, unlike Godzilla.

The Monarch show is a must watch in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed it. 7.5/10 👍🏻
