I like how they handled pure SHOCK. The brother not even looking back as he probably heard the horrid crack her head coming off would make, he just started driving, like his brain refused to acknowledge what had happened. It's sad he didn't just check and do something about it, but it's very accurate to how far the brain goes to protect itself from severe trauma.

@@abc.animal5143the Academy awards are run by a bunch of jackasses if we are being honest. I know it is symbolic of film achievement but it really is quite stupid. There is no real gauge on how someone is officially considered to be a member of the Academy aside from winning an award. But there are many academy members who are not winners or even nominees. Because you can also just, pay to get in, pretty much. So it’s not film critics, film analysts, or even audiences that vote on the Academy awards. It’s a bunch of random people with connections to the industry in one way or another. This is why movies about making movies and movies about Hollywood and artists are such good Oscar bait. Consider this: (and this is an example I’m taking pretty directly from KZfaqr Lindsay Ellis) Francis Ford Coppola is not a member of the Academy. Meat Loaf is a member. Peter Jackson isn’t, but Steven Spielberg is on the board of governors. It’s almost completely random and at the end of the day. Always remember that War Horse made Meat Loaf cry, and that will go farther to getting the movie an award than the merit of the movie (not specifically War Horse I havent seen it)

I've never laughed so hard during a Hereditary reaction before and it's ALL thanks to Milo. That cat made his (?) presence KNOWN this whole video. I love Milo so much. And yeah, this film is horrifying. Can't believe I actually sat through the whole thing but it IS a great horror film.

The incredible acting made this movie so much more powerful. Toni Collette, good God! When she's screaming and crying after finding her daughter my stomach was in knots. Mind blowing performance. As far as I'm concerned, this film is a horror masterpiece. Everything about it is brilliant.

This movie stayed with me for days after I first watched it. I am not easily scared, but the way the horror is handled here is just exactly how I love it. Subtle horror at its best. It is a draining movie, it is heavy as fuck, it is not meant for escapism. But my god I love it. It is even better upon a rewatch, when you take notice of all of the hints along the way as to what is actually going on.

Well said. It’s a difficult watch both because it’s really depressing and also because the tension never lets up it just keeps getting worse and worse, but it does do well for a rewatch, because there are so many seeds planted throughout the whole thing and it’s really satisfying to go back and see it all.

Funny enough I felt that way about Midsommar but not this movie. Don’t get me wrong it was a good movie and really heavy but it felt more like a traditional horror movie with the supernatural stuff. I think what disturbed me more about Midsommar was the lack of traditional horror, it was just pure psychological anguish wrapped up in a bright sunny set. Or maybe Midsommar just desensitized me to the gore of this movie.

Milly Shapiro plays the daughter in this. She was born with a medical condition that affects how she looks. It's the same condition that Gaten Matarazzo from Stranger Things was born with. Milly Shapiro's sister is also in the business and plays Dorothy in Doom Patrol.

When we see Charlie's head, ants were crawling on it. Later, in Annie's nightmare we see ants entering from outside and they cover Peter. The ants represent Paimon, he's freed from Charlie and will soon take possession of Peter.

I’ve been saving this for today. Thank you for your sacrifice. And I’m so sorry. I love this movie so much. It was part of my introduction to horror which means it was part of my phase when I would read plots and then watch the movie or show. I am now at a point where I wish I could into this movie blind and experience it completely fresh. This genuinely is one you can’t prepare for and, no matter how much you think you’ve got it, it just keeps getting worse and more stressful and intense. The acting is amazing, the cinematography is on point, the design of everything, the layers, the symbolism. All of it.

This was the movie that absolutely KILLED my innocence. I was very young when I watched it, sitting in a dark room by myself… Ive rewatched it now and it’s not as scary but wow, the fear I felt was beyond anything

Before I watch this, I have to say that to me Hereditary is a heart warming romp. No lie. The end of the film where shit hits the fan with the mother, that was my mum every night banging on the door screaming cause of her mental illness. So this, weirdly made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Man what a movie... if there's one thing I can say about it, then it sure conveys the emotions of tragedy well. Great acting from all actors. Judging from your reactions, this must've been quite the task to edit, just wow, you almost lost it as much as the characters in the movie by the end of it. But I can tell you one thing, this was a fun reaction to watch, less humerous in both the reaction and editing, makes sense, given what the movie's about, but I enjoyed every second of this, it was fantastic.
