There's a reason this movie is still considered the "official" end of Spongebob. The first 3 seasons are *gold* to this day and this movie is that synthesized.

@@tmac731 less to do with quality and more to do with the fact that this movie was one of the last things the actual creator of Spongebob was involved with for the series. He did apparently direct or was at least more hands on with some episodes of the later seasons before his death in 2018, but overall this movie was, for him, the end of his creation's story.

I would consider the first half of season 4 part of the golden age too. You can really see the decline start during the second half though.

Fun fact: David Hasselhoff mainly took this role cause it sounded so fun and ridicilous. Only for it to turn into the main thing a lot of younger audiences know him for nowadays, as most have never watched the original Baywatch or Knight Rider. When approached about this, the guy apparently took it in stride and loves that he's been immortalised through memes lol

Immortalized by the 14-foot statue, too. Have you seen "Big Dave", the "boat"? Face is unnerving but it's incredibly detailed. Went up for auction in 2021.

Yeah if he started working at the Krusty Krab straight out the womb. Assuming he started working there when he was sixteen, he's at least Forty-Seven. Considering he says those awards were consecutive, he might very well be older. All he would have to do is not be employee of the month _once_ and none of the preceding awards would count among the 374.

Plankton is very different in this movie. Like in the show, he’s not truly pure evil he’s more of a complex character and a sympathetic villain, but in this movie he is pure evil and he actually tries to murder SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs with glee.

After my kid mentioned SpongeBob so much at the age of 3 I decided to figure out who this character was so I cut this movie on and watched it myself. After that I must have watched it a dozen times with her and laughed my butt off every time. Favorite scene: Princess Mindy come up on SpongeBob and Patrick arguing about Patrick being a kid while exposing Patrick's underwear. Patrick: Hi Mindy. Did you see my underwear? Just got my first SpongeBob appreciation tattoo yesterday. I got “ocean” above my right knee and “man” above my left knee! It’s the song this movie ends with but it’s also from one of my favorite albums of all time which inspired Stephen Hillenburg to create SpongeBob! So it’s like one full circle meaning for me haha

This movie has aged amazingly well, and I argue it was the best one in the series. It was considered the ideal finale by Stephen Hillenburg until Nickelodeon made more after he left and then pissed on his grave after he died.

I watched spongebob on nickelodeon whenever it was on tv. My mom got me the boxsets so I didn't have to wait so my younger siblings got the pilot in order experience.
