It's DONE! (or it has to be done today) We LS swapped my 2000 Chevy S-10 Xtreme for LS Fest in Texas. Somewhere along the road we decided to make it RAD and that's exactly what we did. With a 5.3 under the hood, a Holley Terminator, and basically a full frame off restoration... this truck is a far cry from what it was when we pulled it out of a field.

You see people like Cleetus engine swap in an LS in 1 or 2, maybe 3 days tops, and you think "I could do that in a week". Then you see someone like JR, who is doing it ALL, like closer to what you would have to do in your backyard but without his shop, lift, and friends, struggle for a month and barely hit the deadlines. It really puts it in perspective the difference between a quick and dirty drive train swap, and a quick and dirty restoration. Cause what you've done to that truck is what 6 month shops would pump 3 or 4 out a year of with matching care and quality. Your "send it" is their "full send" to use Cleetus terms

I live one town over from what claims to be the last Radio Shack in Washington state. It's been a RS for as long as I can remember but it's nothing like the RS of old though they do still sell cell phones. They have an old RS catalog and a list of suppliers who have NOS items and they can sometimes find a genuine RS part or component. They also have several catalogs that interchange RS parts with other suppliers, mainly for electronic things like switches and resistors. They also have a lot of remote control cars, several being actual RS units from back in the day. They even have the free battery a month cards still but you get Rayovac batteries now. I can't complain because they last a lot longer than those old RS batteries ever did. They have a lot of the old advertising and decorations and at Christmas time they dress up the store and it looks exactly like a RS from the 90s during the holidays when they're done. Old Tandy PCs and CB radios and toys and everything! Unless you were a kid in the late 70s and 80s most wouldn't understand the appeal of Radio Shack stores. The yearly catalog came out right before the holidays and I always looked forward to seeing what new cool toys they had and I had a lot of them. I really miss that store in case you can't tell. Congrats on getting the truck finished! Sorry about my novel up there. You brought back many good RS memories.

When I first saw that wrap, I hated it, I thought it looked ugly and tacky. But now seeing the full finished product, I actually kind of dig it. Now I think it looks weird that the upper part of that front bumper and the grill aren't wrapped. Still, I now get what you were going for when you chose that wrap. It looks good.

All I can say is wow! I'm super proud of you and everyone there coming together and doing whatever it took to get this done! This speaks loads of you JR and your rep there in your town. When businesses will work you in like that, they like you and see the value in you. I cannot wait to see this thing in action! I have a 2003 Ford Ranger Tremor Edition that JBL has stepped up and sponsored for me. The truck will be going from the 3.0 V-6 to the 2.3 Ecoboost donated from a '17 Mustang. Thank you for this series and all the inspiration!!! I have tons of old school car audio gear that I would love to see you use in that S-10. I mean period correct gear. I need the write-off so I'd be honored to donate to the build! You could do a lightweight simple 5 channel amp setup if you wanted or go crazy with two Savard 15's and several Rockford amps! I got them!

The turn signal multi-switch on these S-10s is notorious for going bad. It's pretty easy to replace. I bet that is your windshield wiper problem. It they do stop working, sometimes if you help them along, they'll start working again. You can also try wiggling the rotary switch or moving back and forth between speeds. I had a 1995 S-10 and had my windshield wipers stop while doing about 80-85 on the Florida Turnpike in a blinding rainstorm one time. Talk about a stressful situation..... BTW, regarding the headlights, these trucks had daytime running lights and they were kind-of an afterthought compared to newer vehicles. My truck was older, a 1995 however I wouldn't be surprised if the DRLs are similar on this one. Mine had a dedicated fuse in the fuse box labeled DRL- pop it out and it kills the DRLs. You might want to try that, it may resolve your headlight issue. It could also be another bad switch, too. GM's switches were not very long-lasting when kept in the best of condition during this era and it seems like this truck in particular was just put out to pasture for quite a while before you all saved it so I am sure that didn't help the situation with the poor electrical switches during this era of GM.

This build has turned out really awesome, however I feel that the wrap is 80's themed, and the wheels are more 60's muscle car themed. I would prefer to see the salad slicers from the C4 corvette, I definitely think they would fit the vibe better IMO, cause they're of similar vintage. You could put them on a tire with a thinner sidewall as well to really make them pop
