I was shocked when I first heard about the Jerry Lee Lewis story. I was just working on a pitch for a Jerry Lee Lewis biopic where he's depicted for who he truly is: a predator. The fact that Myra, his cousin, was in middle school shook me to my core. Same with Aaliyah and R Kelly. I was pissed off that the Aaliyah movie romanticized the relationship. I can't imagine how traumatized Aaliyah was at that time and the fact she carried that trauma all the way to her death is even sadder.

I feel like dating younger is seen as glamorous and reflects positively on the older person, so I don’t see this kind of stuff going away. At worst, it still ends up on the “exciting/funny/steamy” end of publicity. I had a front row seat for a marriage that was hurt by its age gap; I hated seeing what it did to my mom. So, even if a gap isn’t a crime, I always have a low opinion on such relationships (I don’t say anything though…).

It's not just scandalous, mind you, it's also illegal. The age of adulthood is 18 in the United States. Therefore, the age of consent must also be 18. Which means that dating a 17 year old or anyone younger than that is illegal and will land you a spot in federal prison. @@afrosamourai400 I only remember one of the girls names. She was a minor around the age 14-16 and he was in his mid twenties. Her name was Juliette Lewis. He also kissed Kristen Dunst and called her “young lady” when asked about kissing a 11/12 year old which is gross, Kristen had to defend herself in front of adults who thought it was okay sadly (mind you, he could’ve refused to kiss a minor but he clearly was okay with it since he’s dated minors before) He also said in an article that his favorite $ex scene he ever filmed was with his ex girlfriend who was also a minor when they dated. Sadly he’s never been called out for him being a p*do and an abuser unfortunately.
