He got paid as much as he is worth. Good performances are good for getting your name out, and once you have given enough good performances, then you can start asking for a check that you feel is appropriate for your skill, but until then you are worth as much as someone sees fit. So no, he was not underpaid, considering the instant exposure he got, along with all the rewards and honorary pays he most definitely cashed in, he probably got overpaid considering that this was his first ever role.

My theory is that the perfect actor to play a homeless man, is a homeless man. I've seen a lot of films, and whenever I see someone they literally found in a street to play someone who lives in the streets, they give a performance worth of 5 Oscars. Acting is not always taught. Neither the "truth". And acting is not always "act". It's "be".

But it's not even close the greatest debut performance ever ever ever belongs to Anna Paquin.....Jesus, she was and it was perfection and legendary. The Piano would be a relatively derivative movie noone would remember, (sorry Jane C) if not for the unbelievable casting of Anna. Whoever recognized that she, and only she, could inhabit, deserved an Oscar, as well. Also Danny Trejo is my total idol. I remember an actress named Sasha Grey, whose first performance was in an artful film called Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge. She acted alongside Rocco Siffredi. Her performance was phenomenal. I recommend watching that film, if you haven't already seen it.

What about Rob Brown in Finding Forrester? He went to auditions to get a job as an extra to pay a pager bill, but he ended up getting the lead role and held his own against Sean Connery, Anna Paquin & F. Murray Abraham.

Most are young actors except Danny Trejo. It would be amazing if you could find people who became actors just like the age bracket of Danny Trejo. That would be awsome! Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Gilbert R. Hill as Inspector Todd in Beverly Hills Cop (1, 2 and 3) it was the only acting role he ever did, but he was such a lovable part of those films. Shame he never did any other acting.
