Your are unemployed and you will end up a lazy slob like patrick. It appears to be politically motivated. It is not okay to show kids shit like that at a young age, before they even know what unemployment is. Though, apparently the huge sumo was fine. Depicting people that are factually shorter on average as short = wrong. Depicting them incorrectly as towering over Bugs = fine. Makes a lot of sense. Why don't we just depict all cartoon characters as the exact same height from now on. Easier to kid ourselves than to accept differences.

I don't know why so many people complained about The Simpsons episode. If anything, it was making Homophobic people look completely ignorant. It showed how Homer loved being with the guy until he found out he was gay. That just shows how petty and completely dumb it is to judge people on the fact that they are gay. Oh well, everyone loves playing the victim!
@lawro1987
@lawro1987 8 жыл бұрын
Patrick Nadro I hated the episode, because they did such a character assassination on Homer. The episode was clearly written to make a trite political point (which is never the greatest starting point), but as a Simpson's fan it was very uncomfortable to watch how they twisted the simple but good-hearted and decent Homer into a vicious, spiteful creature in order for him to act as the delivery vehicle for their message. It's a shame they couldn't get their point across without mutilating the show's best-loved character beyond all recognition.
@PattyNadros

P.S. The episode of The Boondocks...of course it offended Al Sharpton. But that episode was ridden with truth...if MLK Jr. came back and saw what he died for, he'd be ashamed at what a large section of the black and poor (which includes whites, etc) and he would call it as it is. Al Sharpton...of course he wouldn't want to hear the truth, because he lives off of the oppression of black people, so if they lifted themselves up and racism was axed off...he'd no longer have a purpose. Liam Humel This would be why I am glad my parents never told me and my brother NOT to watch these cartoons, but they did sit down and watch them with us. They explained the history behind them to us, and told us why it wasn't good to use such stereotypes today. As a result, we don't get butthurt watching old cartoons, AND we know not to be racist assholes. Parenting win.

***** The idea of this sort of propaganda was to spread a stereotype about the enemy soldier not the Japanese people. It isn't the creators fault that people interpreted it as all Japanese are bad which was not the point. The point was to show the Imperial Army in a bad light.

The Speedy Gonzales controversy is especially hilarious because Cartoon Network was so worried that the character was racist that they ended up banning all Speedy Gonzales cartoons after they gained exclusive airing rights to them, even though the character is insanely popular in Mexico and it took a Mexican petition to get the network to start airing them again.

True story -- most people who are offended by "PC" things are white liberals. There is an Asian band who voluntarily calls themselves "The Slants", which I think is cool, because they take the insult away from the people who want to use it. 90% of Native Americans don't hate the word "Redskins", and most Natives don't really care about the Indian head with Cleveland.

The reasons given for some of these bans are utterly pathetic. Most of it's along the lines of 'may cause offense to (insert special interest group here)' You know what 'causing offense' means? Jack shit. You say or do something that a certain type of person doesn't like. Every time Justin Bieber is played on the T.V it pisses off millions of people while other people like it. So shouldn't that be banned? If we keep striving to create a society where nothing that may cause offense is allowed to be said we're all going to end up a bunch of mutes.
