It’s a pretty common practice. She didn’t need any money from the guy but she needs acknowledgment that she won the case. In order to show that she won she needed to be rewarded something. It’s the same principle behind some CEOs only taking a $1 salary or some people giving away certain ideas or items. Giving it away for $0 would be considered charity which is a different set of paperwork but selling for $1 means an actual business transaction happened.

@creativechef25
@creativechef25 13 күн бұрын
The OJ trial's "if the gloves fit, you must acquit" defense is utter bogus to me. Looking at it now or at least several years after the trial, the leather gloves would have shrunk from not only the blood that was on them and drying out, but also after they were cleaned by processing it and allowing it to dry. There was also a nifty rumor going around saying that OJ was doing hand exercises to bulk up his hands to ensure that didn't fit as purposed by his legal team. I'm inclined to believe that the gloves shrank due to the moisture and drying them out, thus shrinking them. So if the prosecution made note of that then it would have been a different outcome. Anyone that knows leather will know that you don't want too much water or liquid to get on leather and then drying it out.

The gloves had nothing to do with the acquittal. The recordings of Marc Fuhrman making seemingly racist remarks completely changed the dimension of the case, and was enough to put the seed of reasonable doubt into the minds of the jury. The LAPD bought that acquittal thru years of its own bad culture.

4:23 Oooh! I remember my HS forensics teacher telling us this case! It was a foundational turn in the forensics classifications, as tracing threads to the murderer was very new. He bludgeoned his family with an ice pick (which was promptly found near the home). The scariest thing is, when he was caught, he said, “I didn’t think you guys would figure it out.” That to me says he killed his family to test something, to see if he could get away with it just cause. So freaky! Another interesting fact about how they caught OJ Simpson: the bloody shoe prints design wasn’t anywhere in the catalogue investigators had. Luckily, one guy did some digging and found the design matched that of an uncommon, expensive custom shoe that was purchased outside of the country.

He was high on speed and had not slept for like 30 hours or something nuts. One daughter wet her parents’ bed, on his side of the bed, and it set him off. (He had a notorious explosive anger.) There’s an excellent book called Fatal Vision by a journalist who’d been embedded in his defense team and then decided after seeing the evidence that he was too obviously guilty he couldn’t support his side anymore. It puts forward the best theory of what happened based on the evidence. FYI, you don’t bludgeon someone with an ice pick. There was bludgeoning involved, but by a piece of wood, iirc. The ice pick was used to stab. He told everyone four hippies came in shouting “Acid is groovy” and he fought them off after they’d killed his family, but he sustained barely any wounds. Thing is, the Manson Murders were written about in a magazine on his coffee table, and it could’ve easily given the idea to blame hippies. His father-in-law doggedly fought to finally get him convicted in a criminal trial, which was incredibly moving. It’s a tough case, emotionally. If you’re into true crime, you would love the book Fatal Vision, and the follow up Final Vision that even further explains the evidence.

Sure, except that Paul Prediger was legally allowed to possess a firearm in Wisconsin on the night of the shooting. He did not have any felony convictions that would prevent him from carrying and the gun was not concealed. Not that the concealed bit mattered since he did in fact have a valid CCW at the time (even though the cops lied to him and said it was expired). The Wisconsin CCW was issued on 1/10/2018 and did not expire until 1/10/2023, the shooting happened in August 2020 which is between those two dates. If he had any criminal history that barred him from owning a firearm then the Wisconsin DOJ would not have have issued him a CCW, that's simply common sense.

I remember on a Discovery Channel show a PI getting a pair of gloves made of the same material as OJ’s gloves. Fit him no problem. He then dipped them in beef blood. They shrunk and it was like seeing OJ put them on all over again. In hindsight, I don’t know if this technology existed at the time, find the make and size of the gloves. The most damning thing in the Rittenhouse trial was definitely during grosskreutz testimony. Sure the video and picture evidence was damning, but when questioned by defense counsel, "did you he shoot you while you had your hands up?" 'No' 'Did he only shoot you after you lunged forward at him with a gun in your hand?' 'Yes' This small exchange is a textbook example of using leathal force in self-defense. In the trial video you can see the defense counsel be shocked for a bit because of how easily this key testimony was given up. The prosecution basically has their head in their hands because they knew the case was fucked at this point.
