These are the best interviewers, you ask the question with some very simple prompts along the way. The confidence to do this takes a long time to develop. The other thing he does is actually listens to his subjects which develops respect and increases the chances of more information being shared. He does a great colombo method to.

love Luis podcasts with Adam Buxton, so funny. They are good friends with Joe Cornish from the Adam and Joe show, Joe is now a pretty well known director.

He has the best interviewing technique. He build a rapport with his subject/interviewee putting them at ease and therefore facilitating a smoother non confrontational response.

What makes his documentaries special is that it takes some balls and nerves to meet some of the people he has met or to be at some places he has visited. I am thinking especially about those white supremacists meetings he did. Just seeing kids in that environment would make me wanna leave because it's so wrong no matter how you see it and to go in there and have a straight face and just asking questions and listen, that job isn't for everyone.

I've watched Louie many years ago from the beginning and all the way up to his most recent work, and Louis just has this... _"way"_ of acting innocently stupid, yet condescending at the same time by asking questions that are half legit, and half antagonistic, with a dash of hidden insult, and when he asks these questions with this act he puts on (I've seen him do it many times with all sorts of people, like a cat playing with an injured mouse before it becomes food), and he can see, and the viewer can see when the person starts to get worked up, they start getting mad because they're being asked questions they don't wanna answer, or they can't grapple back with the mental judo, and some just flat out get mad, and Louis has even done this to prisoners and just keeps poking the bear with this innocent/condescending act and questioning, just prodding deeper and deeper 😂 like this one prisoner he was doing that too... The guy he was talking to was not nearly as smart or intelligent as Louie (or at all) and was getting mad bc he clearly was just being outsmarted and insulted in such a covertly smart way that he clearly had never dealt with before and didn't know how to overcome or understand, whereas I'm betting the majority of his confrontation are just regular profanity and shit talking and then fighting, which is much simpler and straightforward than what Louie was throwing at him, and it seems like at any moment the inmate was gonna just DECK Louie (they were in a cell together, no bars between them) but Louie seemed to have no fear, and he's smart enough to know when he's making people react/smart enough to read people, and he just keeps prodding, and prodding, and _prodding,_ and every time I see him do that it just cracks me up and also amazes me at how this soft spoken, mild mannered, Harry Potter looking Englishman who looks like he's never thrown a punch or taken one in his life, can be so disrespectful and intrusive while playing dumb like as in he's just a journalist asking questions, yet know _exactly_ what he's doing to (sometimes) dangerous people, and still look em in the eye and continue with just literally playing and toying with them lol

What’s wrong with you lmao ? What do you mean his playing dumb to be insulting ? His just asking hostile people questions as to why they believe in certain ideologies. What do you think is going to happen asking people like questions. You’re thinking way to deep into all.

Hey! I live a hour away from Huntington WV. I live 20mins away from Portsmouth OH, which is just as bad as Huntington. You look at this whole area on the map and this is what it's like. The Ohio Valley Rust belt fell and fell hard. It's sad because this area is so rich in history and absolutely beautiful. It has seen sort of a come back with small businesses bringing in more modern amenities. Art, music, places to eat and relax. A lot of old historic beautiful buildings that were going to waste. They just need a little love. This whole entire community needs it. Sad thing is when one drug goes, another takes its place. Fentanyl is the big thing now and is the worst killer of them all.
