Prv fitted as part of gas regs in Ireland as a precaution in case of frozen open vent pipes. Very common too on external oil boiler installs operating under gravity open vent design.

Looks to me like the CFOV are plumbed upstairs not near the boiler, PRV probably retrofitted on the boiler as iso valves on pump and magnaclean mean heat source could be isolated from OV. One way to do it 😂

It used to be considered good practice to put a prv/temperature relief on open vented if the open vent was across the other side the house and 3 floors up. Was pretty uncommon and only due to the expansion not being able to overcome the resistance of the pipework length.

The prv are being used as a drain off I’ve seen it a few times, hey at least it drains to outside but watch out for a dirty wall sometimes

Can you just replace the divertor cartridge on vaillant also working out expansion vessel size on first job 18 rads 24 litre what formula you guys used to work this out.

You can, but I've not done the cartridge replacement before. I've heard mixed things about it. Regarding the vessel, general rule of thumb is 10% of the volume of water in the system. Without going into in depth calculations with different size rads I take approx 10L per rad (180L) and then go a size bigger on the vessel as you can't go wrong with a bigger vessel but you can have problems if it's undersized
