+francisco matos so glad to hear a young guy admit how poor the musical landscape of popular music these days is short on brilliant moving music. love that it was the waterboys that lead u to share what old guys like me need to hear. there is hope

Hey, I'm turning 22 in a month! I have been listening to Mike Scott since I was 14 :D !

I was around in the 80s and I can assure you that the Waterboys were not played on pop stations. The 80s had some great music, but if you listened to pop music of the 80s you would say the same thing back then. Likewise, there are some great music being made today. You just have to know where to look for it. Radio isn't the place.
@Hannibu7 жыл бұрын
The Waterboys has never been a mainstream band. There is the "Chart crap" and there is real good music. Good and shitty Music has nothing to do with the decades. There has always been poor mainstream for the masses and good music for people who really know.

I first witnessed this extraordinary group in London '84 supporting U2 They were a revelation then and their songs and performances were brilliant. Needless to say, I have watched them as often as possible in the ensuing years and the.songs from their '80's lps are Still mind blowing Mike Scott is a genius lyricist and singer

Ive seen them too as a support act for U2. They blew them of stage in my opinion...

@josroedolf9283 84 I didn't heard about WB yet I saw them live twice in Portugal. I lived in Switzerland from 1988 and 1996, after Achtung Baby, in 1992 I drove with friends until Lausanne's football stadium two see U2 and it remains my best concert

Most fortunately for me I discovered this huge music here in Canada in 1984, the year of my sons birth and we twirled, leaped, roared and crooned together til I was ready to swoon!!! lol so lucky I was as we do not have a good audience for them here sadly

Thanks for this! I love how Mike's vocals are so clear and solid ... really highlights how fantastic his lyrics and melodies work together. And the band is razor sharp. I really needed this to clear my head after foolishly watching the VMA's (the Video "so-called" Music Awards).

I grew up in South Africa and in the early 80's there was a radio dj called Chris Prior who played the Waterboys regularly. They got a lot of airtime and developed quite a cult following there. I was just one of the teenagers back then who fell in love with their music and they have remained my favorite band ever since. And I am happy to say that I will be seeing them live in Germany in November!

Anybody here to listen in 2020? I' m not gay but I love Mike Scott. Had the opportunity for a nice talk with him in the late 80's. Waterboys supported the Pretenders. He liked to learn some german words because he was interested in german language. We laughed a lot because he spoke out the words with a nice scots accent. I' m glad he is still with us in good shape because he used to be a heavy boozer. Fishermans blues and Room to roam are still favorite records to me. Greetings to all Scots and Irish folks in here from germany. Love you.

Two hours of massively ecclectic, electric (not just in technical sense :)), and explosive rock of the highest qality. Mike and the Waterboys as good as ever, with a great line-up of musicians! Gives me such joy!
