To be that late in their career it was a very varied and surprising setlist. I would have thought it was more focused on their recent material. And thank God, no horn section.

Bought the 1st three Lps on the day of release but only started seeing them live from 2016 , big mistake . Saw the final gig with Hugh on KZfaq at Ally Pally , dreadful , this is miles better and they seem to be enjoying themselves!

Was hatte denn Hugh Cornwell für Problem mit dem Publikum? Was heißt hier "schlafen die Müden?"

This one is interesting... 1985, the band is performing in a big german tv-liveshow "Rockpalast". Ok. Showdown-time. But this was/is not good enough, right? You ask what the fuck I'm complaining about? Ok, here we go... What I don't get, is: a) why these guys are still playing some of their songs from the lackluster albums like "MenInblack" or "Feline"? Or some other shit from the "who cares"-catalogue? These hideous songs were already about 4-5 years old. They don't sound good live, because they were made under influence (so to speak), and were never ment to be played live. b) Also, other b-class songs included. Drugged-Up musicians, maybe? c) Cornwell, just being himself, gives some shit to the foreign audience (in this case german). The Germans are a good crowd, and they give you a fair chance every night. But if you went "semi-prog" in 1985, the punk-oriented audience just didn't like it. It's easy to see from this footage. I think J.J.Burnel and Hugh Cornwell were arrogant and bigheaded during this show. Refusing to play their earlier stuff, and looking somewhat bored and aged through the gig. Not good, not even average. Plain arrogant and tired looking band, going through the motions. These two main guys didn't like each other anymore (meaning Cornwell and Burnel), and it shows. ps. I love the band's production during Hugh Cornwell (era 1977-1990), so I hate to give a bad review. What the fuck do I know, anyway? Thank you.

Brilliant,. Probably the best Stranglers show I've seen, and I've caught them many times after this. Just one thing. If they could have followed Tramp with Walk on By. Just a thought. Anyway, probably the best set I've ever heard them play and give all my love to SIS.
