Today we are painting easy whimsical watercolor birds using wet-on-wet techniques and our knowledge of color mixing.
Thanks for joining me this year in this watercolor journaling journey. I hope to paint in my journal most days of the year and invite you to join me. We don't need big resolutions, just gentle intentions to tend to our creative soul a little bit everyday.

So cute! When I first started my water color journey, my daughter gave me a journal to use. At first I was afraid to put anything in it! Finally I realized it was where I could try new things and find out what I could do. It took some time and some courage until it occurred to me that it was just for ME!!

I do not own journals but when my big 9x12” are done I’m excited to start on a new one and hooray whimsy birds ❤❤❤ them I’ve done so many of these. Thank you so much for this new idea.😊

Awww those birdies are so amazingly cute! Thank you for this cute idea Shana! They would be a perfect start into a new sketchbook. But they are also perfect for filling up a page in the old one, which I enjoyed doing very much! As for your question. I have not bought a new watercolor journal but I want to instead continue the daily paining on pieces of the sheet papers I have. I got a single big sheet each, of several different brands of paper for Christmas. I have cut one slice off each into pieces and plan to now use this small pieces as if they were a sketchbook to try out how each paper reacts.

This is such a cute and whimsical idea! I started out using Qor paints and bought some tubes of the other higher end brands but keep finding myself going back to the Qor paints. Love them and you’re one of the few artists on KZfaq that I have found that use them. Thank you so much for mentioning that your painting looked better the next day. I have noticed that myself before and thought I was just crazy. 😊.

QOR definitely seems to be an acquired taste for some. I love them. 😁 and those overnight watercolor faeries have been visiting me since day 1. You are definitely not crazy.

Sooo darling! I will give this a try. Thank you for beginner projects.as those are tuts that I still watch...progress is slow with the hand/arm issues running my life these days but not giving up!!
