I actually use ONR, mainly, diluted way down to around 100-150:1 as a glass cleaner! I have my glass sealed with Angelwax H2GO and I find using this cleans the glass effortlessly but has seemingly ZERO impact on the sealant's properties 👍🏼

After years of trying all sorts, I've settled on ONR for most light maintenance washes now. 2.5 litres of solution and another bucket with some rinsing water for the wash mitt. I mist some dilute GTechniq C2V3 on as a drying aid before wiping it all off and the results are excellent and it's so quick to do.

Agreed - it's so refreshing to see actual *damage* being done to a panel. Suggestion: do some tests to determine what *actual* "protection" various coatings & waxes provide. I.e - we have so many chemical resistance tests, where the presence or absence of water beading indicates whether there is any "protection" on the panel - but what protection is ACTUALLY being provided?

I've been using onr wash and wax exclusively for nearly 5 years on my black truck. She still looks great! Virtually scratch free. Definitely dosen't look swirled in the sun. I love that I can wash in the garage out of the sun. I keep a pump sprayer mixed up with distilled water for a pre spray and use 2 buckets with a microfiber wash kit. I dry with a spray of meguiar's synthetic spray wax and a rag company platinum pluffle towel. I'd reccomend this method to anyone!

I've used ONR Wash n Wax for 5 years on my Flash Red Polo GTi from new. The paintwork still looks amazing with minimal swirls. Love how easy it is to buff off and the gloss it leaves due to the added wax. Also used as a clay lube before polishing. Off topic it works amazing getting the glass doors on your shower crystal clear 🤣. The thought of breaking out all the pressure washer gear and buckets plus the time spend drying using the normal wash method fills me with dread now. Fantastic product.

In the states, we have a product called Wolfgang Uber Rinceless Wash. It is very similar to ONR, which I also have in my garage. I find myself reaching for the Uber Wash more than ORN. Uber seems to leave a slicker and glossier surface than ORN. Both are great products, but Uber seems to leave something behind that ORN does not. However, to your point, if I am following up with a protection product after a rinceless wash, I will reach for the ONR for sure.

ONR is such an amazing product. Would be near the top of my list if I was restricted with space and had to reduce my product range. I was under the impression that rinseless means that you can use it in a bucket and wash your car like you normally would but without hosing it down and waterless means you can use it in a spray bottle to spray the panels and wipe. Nevertheless, what I’ve learned from rinseless washing my cars for over a year since I live in a flat: - Having protection on the car, any kind, the slicker the better, minimizes the risk of damaging the paint and makes the cleaning easier and more enjoyable. I recently ceramic coated my car, removed the protection and used ONR before polishing; without any protection on the car it was a pain to dry or wipe - ONR is great at lifting up dirt, this test proves it and it leaves no streaking - ONR Wash and Wax is my new favorite since it bumps up the gloss and adds a sacrificial layer of protection - Ech2o leaves the best protection out of all of them but it’s harder to use on hot panels or sunny days since it needs to be buffed off or it leaves high spots Cheers!

Yassssss.. ONR for the win. I've always heard other detailer said other rinseless perform better, mostly the issue is that onr doesn't feel as slick as other rinseless brand out there. Time & timd again there's always video come out that shows ONR prevent scratches better than other rinseless wash out there. My local detailer had pictures panels using onr and others brand still, ONR cleans well and prevent scratches better and that has been my experience as well. I like that there's no residue left and the cleaning power (i think the friction u feel washing with onr is the think that makes it clean so well) of onr as good as normal water wash
@rheijne95
@rheijne95 3 жыл бұрын
Great point on the friction encreasing cleaning performance. I use the BRS and it gives an am-az-ing clean. The new formula is a VAST improvement. For drying, I find the better the protection and state of paint, the slicker it works. I had problems with drying towels gripping too much. Clayed, sealed and waxed, now towels glide alot easier over the paint. I even used ONR on cars which were EXTREMELY(!!!!!) dirty. Just a jet wash up front to get the coarser dirt off, and then 4 gallons of ONR with the BRS till it beads again. Usually takes a couple of wipes if a car is extremely dirty. You learn to read what ONR tells you as it's doing it's thing on the paint. Just need to figure out what's the best drying towel to use with ONR. Right now TRC's Double Twistress leaves behind some droplets which don't level out.

@@rheijne95 yes. Plus, with rinseless wash i need only 1 towel (max 2) to dry the whole car. And now still, i still stand by ONR causing less scratching altho its mostly technique, but ONR does have slight edge in preventing scratches.

I'm trying an experiment today. My car is dirty but not filthy. I'm planning to mix up ONR in a sprayer as a pre-treat, let it soak, and rinse with a pressure washer.I'm looking to see if the emulsification process carries away more dirt than a rinse alone. So, I tend to use ONR as an adjunct to a regular wash, unless my car just needs a quick once-over. I love the stuff! Great clay lube and cheap as hell. Thanks, Jon! Great stuff as always.

I’ve tried this a few times with the same theory but I think ultimately it is unnecessary. A pre rinse will knock off any contamination that ONR will encapsulate with a pre soak anyway making it a negligible step. Anything that doesn’t come off needs to be mechanically removed with agitation/wiping. My process if I think the car needs to be rinsed would be rinse first, then pre-treat.

Wolfgang Uber is good stuff. It’s slicker and has some gloss enhancers so it feels more lubricating than ONR. OK you have to fill a bucket but there is no buffing - just drying with a decent drying towel. I used the yellow turtle wax product once and it took ages plus I was knackered after using it. Took a serious amount of buffing to get it off.

Jon, been using ONR for a few years now... but ONR Wash & Wax, the green one. In reality, this would probably be a closer match to the other products tested here than regular ONR. Have you used this one and will you review it? Buffs up to a nice shine. Great channel, thanks for all your hard work 👍

I bought the last waterless wash and wax in the shop from ALDI for £2.99. I use the ALDI microfibre cloths, around £3 for a pack of four. It is wonderful but get any crud off first with a jetwash or even a soft brush. I have done my car twice and my scooter twice. It has quality wax in it that leaves a great shine that lasts. Avoid tap water for future washes and use rainwater and the shine will stay.

I like to use a 256:1 dilution ratio of ONR to the wash solution in my bucket for the contact wash, for lubricity and water softening. Also, I like to use the ONR at the same dilution ratio in the pre rinse that I spray on the car prior to anything else.

In regards to Ech2o, I've never loved it as a WW. It's okay as a QD, and it's really good as a RW. As a WW it's streaky and takes a bit more effort (As you mentioned) It does look very good on the paint though that's for sure. For my money McKees 37 N-914 is the best Waterless/Rinseless product that I've personally used.

I recently bought a car second hand that had been coated with Shelby ceramic. I wash with their shampoo and finish with their QD. It’s lovely. Sometimes, I want a quick waterless option. The Shelby product is another £16. This ONR that doesn’t leave anything behind… is that safe to use over my ceramic coat, or will it potentially damage it with whatever detergent is in it?

I use ONR and ECHO on most of my washes. I use Echo as a drying aid and have no issue with streaking as long as you buff it off while drying. ONR I use sometimes on its own or sometimes I foam cannon with normal soap and dump some ONR in my rinse bucket for extra protections since so cheap. They have a larger gallon bottle which is even cheaper per use.

I don't WW/RW but I do own some Ech2o. I like to put a few ml in with my BH Auto Wash to make an even slicker product. Would be interested to hear you thoughts on Showroom Shine and Williams waterless wash and wax. Less for a detailers product, more for joe everyman marketed on shopping channels. Both have carnauba wax. I mainly use them as a wax finish when cleaning family cars. I love Showroom Shine for how slick it leaves the paintwork, I’ve yet to come across a product thats matches it. Turtle wax hydrophobic wax is the closest but whatever is in SS makes the paint like teflon. Although it did cost me as a cat jumped on my bonnet, slipped off and clawed the paint work. 😖

I have been using ONR since 2011 and have no intention to stop. My cars look sharp after every wash. I am also on a few detailing FB pages and have noticed a few disparaging ONR from former users (this is more common in the US) with the new kid on the block, McKees 37 N-914, as it is promoted by former Optimum spokesman Yvan Lacroix. Not convinced. Same ppl also imply that the Optimum company has been sold and the new owners have changed the formula - again not convinced

Be a good companion if doing this in the future to add McKees 914 and P&S Absolute. McKees being a surfactant base and Absolute a polymer base like the ONR. Interestingly Yvans company DIY rinseless is a combination of both Polymer and Surfactant. Pre mix is good if you are traveling and need to grab something quick. I keep ONR in the truck at 1:128 clay strength to spray my lower panels before the wash since they have more debris and it does appear to loosen up the dirt.

I dont see how any one can think doing a rinseless or waterless wash wont scratch or mar the paint. After 10x the paint will look like trash IMO. Had a guy whose car I was doing and he told me he always used a rinseless solution like ONR and had flawless paint - he was blind and never looked at it in the proper lighting. The hood was scratched to hell. I think some people think convenience is king and ignore the true condition of the paint to suit their taste. If dirt, dust and grime are on the paint, you cant run a towel over it and not expect marring. To keep paint in good condition it takes a lot of work and preparation and the last thing I would do it mist something on a dirty car and start wiping. Anyways, love your channel. You have helped me immensely as a detailer so no criticism on my part, just voicing my opinion.

ONR in itself isn't more dangerous than soap, it's better than soap but a pre wash no matter what you use is always king beforehand. Rinseless means you don't rinse afterwards.. You can still prewash anytime you'd like. Get as much shit off the car before handwashing is always the goal, doesn't matter if it's soap or rinseless.

Ive used ONR for such a long time now (years) and its amazing, I have a black car now and its fantastic for leaving it streak free, I think all these seem to overly complicate things for me, I want a quick cleaning solution that leave no streaks, with the others they seem to be trying to be ok at all things and not fantastic at what they are designed for, ONR is just brilliant for cleaning the car regardless of how dirty it get and combined with how quick and easy it is to dry the car it just ticks all the boxes for me, more impressed than ever going from a silver car to a black car (Black BMW E39 540i M-Sport, went back old school from Silver CLK63) and you can see it leaves it clean and streak free leaving time for me to mess about with waxes, detailing sprays or something similar. A question for you Jon, I use Bead Maker after cleaning as it leave the panel so slick but is that what its designed for and is it laying down protection, hopefully you have spare time to read this and reply bud, regardless keep up the fantastic work as I like many on here love you direct unbiassed results as so many have hidden agenda's when pushing products which is fine but with your videos you are just honest about things, maybe we should call you Honest Jon lol
