Hey mate. My boat's a runabout with a full width windscreen and an anchor well in the bow. There's an anchor winch mounted in the well with the anchor rope running to the bowsprit a couple of inches above the deck, and there's a deck roller for it to all sit on. I want to put a trolling motor on but it would have to be mounted so it's at a 45° angle across the bow and so the motor's shaft sits over the top of the anchor rope when the trolling motor's stowed. Was wondering if you can tell me how much clearance there is between the trolling motor shaft and the deck when it's all stowed away?

It’s a bit hard to say cause depending on what size motor you need could change that height. Like mine sits about that 75mm to 100mm off the gunwale, but I’m running a Minn kota terrova now days. Sorry I can be more help there mate. 😅

@@BrisVegasFishing no worries, thanks anyhow. Any reason you swapped out the Watersnake for the Minn Kota? Only asking coz the Snake's such an attractive price.

@@SandmannOZ when I water test it after install she didn’t work at all. I changed out circuit boards and everything, they were happy to send parts to fix it. But in the end the issue just wasn’t worth it and the refunded me. So just a bad experience for me. But I’ve heard good reviews from mates that do run em.

Hi, when you mount the motor at an angle like that, how does it affect the remote control? Since it is pointing at an angle, when you press forward on them remote, does it pull to the side etc?

Don’t have any dramas on the angle like this as the motor has a full 360 degrees range of motion.

@@BrisVegasFishing but how does it know which way is forward? if it is pointing at an angle, when you press the forward arrow on the remote, doesn't it drive the direction the bracket is pointing?

Well from what it sounds like, you mean the heading button which sets the direction you are already heading. Not sure if this helps a great deal, all I can say it doesn’t have a reset to forward or anything like that.

Can you take the motor off for transport like a cartopper

If you purchase the quick remove bracket you can attach one side to the motor and the other side to your boat. 👍 This will allow for quick removal for your car topper

Is this the new 2020 version Javis Walker released? The motor head looks slightly different

Not 100% sure. 🤔 All I can say is that it was a complete lemon 🍋 I didn’t even get to use it on the water. 😪

Yeah, it ended up being something in the motor itself being the issue. The remote receiver and controller were working no drama. They offered a replacement for mine, but had no stock in the country at the time. 😬

@@BrisVegasFishing hey mate any update on the lemon yet, I was looking at buying one until I read your comments. Maybe I'll save up for longer and get the minn kota

Ended up sending it back for a refund. Then just upgraded to the minn Kota in the end. Definitely better off saving up aye.

How far over the boat does it have to be

It’s a bit of a 2 person job, but I normally dumby it up with the motor deployed before marking out where it should sit. That’s generally the easiest non technical way. 😅

does the electric have spot lock?

Sadly this particular model does not. You’ve gotta jump up in price range to get that feature.

I’d imagine you would be able to get a good minn Kota within that price range. Do you know what size electric you were looking at? I would say you’d want something around that 54inch shaft 55lb thrust.
