Yes, athletes did indeed compete naked. The first written evidence of the Olympic games dates back to 776 BC. It was said that Hercules(Herakles) held them in honor of Zeus after conquering Elis in a war with Augeas. It's written to have been more of a religious festival but was banned in 393 AD on the grounds of paganism. 1896 was the first modern Olympic games but women weren't allowed to compete until 1900.

I wish there was adult gymnastics classes when I was in my twenties and maybe even my early 30’s. I did gymnastics growing up, along with a lot of other sports, and I miss it. Watching you guys makes me want to do it again, but I’m just too old and have gained quite a bit of weight over the past 12 years😢 I love watching you guys! I would’ve had a blast in my early age to have an empty gym like that to just run around doing anything I wanted. We had open gym on Sundays when I did gymnastics but there were always other gymnasts there and we couldn’t quite do just anything, but it was the time that we could goof off a little with our gymnastics and trying new things
