Please post a video that zooms out a bit and shows how the pool was built and how the wave is generated. This is a great civil engineering project. I think some credit is due to the engineers and contractors that made it happen.

Obviously its pretty cool. I can't help but think that it's too perfect and that will make it boring. When you go surf in the ocean, so many things have to come together, sometimes frustrating yes, but it makes those perfect days all the more precious. As cool as this is, I think it will eventually not be surfed. But yeah, would love to do it for a session or two can't lie.

Kelly: I’m so old I remember reading about the sixteen-year-old phenom from Florida (was it Cocoa Beach?) tearing it up fresh on the ASP world tour. I remember a reporter from Surfer mag asking why you shaved your head at the age of sixteen, and your response was so you’d look ugly so the girls wouldn’t be swarming you so you could focus on the surfing (something like that). Those were the days when Tom Curren and Tom Carroll were consistently vying for the number one ranking. Good to see you’re still in one piece and still tearing it up. Cheers.

my reference point for the level of mastery or understanding of just how amazing and mind boggling surfing like that, actually is. starts at 1:59, when he's standing up. how the water kind of lifts and propels you. I managed to be able to stand up at one point, but it was kind of like at that 1:59 moment. I am a complete newbie, beginner, rookie when it comes to surfing. so all the surfers that can carve and do all those amazing tricks, turns, and can ride in barrels like that, is incredibly humbling and awe-inspiring. its its like having an idea, that I have no idea.

team6usa It is basically a man made lake that has a liner at the bottom and also along the sides of it to keep the water in. They must have some way of managing the water level if it rains so that the pool doesnt overflow just like most or all outdoor swimming pools have along with filtration systems for water control, so kelly is in fact not waisting tons of water. I grew up surfing in hawaii and got to share the line up with kelly many times over the years at ehukai's and gums on the north shore of oahu. In my opinion, I would actually prefer to surf that wave pool than the real thing, dont get me wrong I love the ocean and love surfing the real thing but if you look and see how much radio active nuclear waste and raw sewage is being dumped in our oceans daily you would maybe consider that maybe the man made wave aint so bad after all..I moved to Alaska now and im trying to talk to the right people to put one of kellys pools to my town..Stuff like this brings people together of all ages despite our differences or whats going on in our lives we can all go there for the same reason is to have fun and excitement!✌

I disagree with people saying that this would get boring really quick, you do not need to surf each wave the same instead work on different combos and new tricks, practice switch be innovative and invent new tricks. You dont see guys at the skate park or mega ramp saying that they would get bored skating the same ramps but instead they try new tricks or try and go bigger and push the limits and be innovative and go bigger than the last guy..I could see anything getting boring if you aren't willing to step it up and mix it and push yourself and be progressive. Yes nothing beats the real thing but in my opinion I would rather surf the pool instead because of its consistency, quality and my biggest reason is because of all the radio active nuclear waste and sewage being dumped in our oceans daily, im even afraid to eat fish from the ocean now days and i love sushi and raw fish or poke' as we call it here in hawaii. I wonder if surf rider foundation is still doing any water samples from beaches around the world, I think we all deserve to know what we're really jumping into and how safe our water and fish we eat really are. I remember when waikiki had millions of gallons of raw sewage making its way out to the ocean wich made me stop surfing town spots altogether wich really sucks because of sick spots to surf like kaiser's and ala moana bowls to name a few. That would really suck to hit and get cut up by the reef wich most likely was saturated with the sewage as it settled. My point im trying to make is we as surfers and water men and women should be more conscious of whats really in our oceans, and in the meantime, go try out kellys wave pool or ones like it, you might fall in love with it like all the pros and non pros have✌

igloo productions Right, so he didnt even put any *money* into it ? If he is 'marketing' this wave pool, its some intense reverse psychology - 'we cant tell you where it is, and I'm only going to invite my friends to surf here'. I admit that its effective, but surely what matters is the quality of the waves and this seems a quantum leap from the early wave pools.
