Marcos Sebastian I’ve been looking into that myself! Our new iMac came and, while it handles the plugins we’re running just fine, as soon as we start multitrack recording, it gets a bit bogged down. Would be nice to move some of that to a dedicated server with WSG!

I would confirm that your latency is as low as you can set it (try 64 or even 32 if you have a fast enough computer) and then make sure the plugin is only sending a fully wet mix back to the console. You shouldn’t be able to hear any of the dry sound. This can normally be done on most reverb and delay plugins with the “wet/dry” knob. Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

Great question. You're correct that the delay is negligible. We're running at 64 samples (set in Waves Multirack) at 48k sample rate (set on the console). If your buffer size is 64 and your sampling rate is 48,000 times per second (Hz is cycles per second) then your latency will be 64/48,000 seconds which is 0.0013 seconds or 1.3ms. Which is practically unnoticeable. Now to the second part of your comment, yes, we use dynamics, EQs, Gates, de-essers..etc. you name it all with this same setup with zero issues, we still have that same 1.3ms plus whatever the plugin is adding (which with most waves plugins isn't much.) Delaying the input on the channel wouldn't help as it would only add more latency, we would have to delay all of the other channels that aren't going through Waves to compensate. You can accomplish this automatically through Waves via latency alignment, which you can read more about on the Waves multirack manual (page 18) www.waves.com/1lib/pdf/live/multirack-manual.pdf

Kevin Layampa I’m not sure I understand your questions, but basically each vocal gets sent to a Bus, that bus gets routed to aux 1-4, then we bring those into Waves via Card Out and the effected signal comes back onto the auxes which we just send to the Mains.

Kevin Layampa oh got it! Yes, you have each mic sending individually to a mono bus and that is what’s sending to Waves and returned as a stereo feed to the auxes. So yes, you have control to send different volumes of each individual mic to the bus, but it’s all going into one reverb unit and coming back as a stereo mix. You can tweak this to do 6 buses and 6 mono fx returns coming back into the console, or 3 stereo, or mix and match! Have fun!

I wouldn't have anything with windows, cause I don't know how to use that dumpster fire of an OS ;) Jokes aside, you do get more bang for your buck with Windows machines, so if you're looking for the cheapest option and you know Windows well enough, that might be the best choice for you. I've been using macs since Jr. High - it's what I'm most comfortable with, so that's what we use exclusively here.
