New vita3k emulater is at version 5, you can play some PS Vita games on this handheld 😊 (edit now at version 6)

Neat balanced review. The GarlicOS stuff is interesting. Maybe it’ll come to other T618 devices. Double Dash is a pain - it’s the Mali GPU Vulkan drivers on modern Dolphin. Options are MMJR for Vulkan or switch to OpenGL for Double Dash.

Yeah, OpenGL was too slow. Around 40fps

@@Robtech I’m using RP3+ and it’s funny all the “reviews” show Double Dash but never talk about the blue tinge overlay. And if you can cope with that it runs great. Pretty sure I was getting near full speed from an official dolphin build though. I’ll have to go check now.

@@Robtech Latest Dolphin Beta on RP3+ Double Dash with Open GL plays pretty solid using the PAL image. There may be a bit of mileage with the CPU/GPU governor tweaks in the latest update however.

I have a 353p and this 405m and it's definitely a nice upgrade. An you don't need the dual boot to use android and emulation on 405m. The only thing i dont like is the triggers aren't stacked.

Do you know if you will b able to install garlic os with a Mac cpu? And is there a way yet to install gammas with a Mac because not everyone has windows😅

You'll need to look up if there are software replacements on macOS for the Windows apps in the installation process.

No I'm saying look at the instructions for installing it and check if there's a Mac alternative. First step for installing GarlicOS "Download and install 7zip on your system". So if 7zip isn't on Mac, search for an app for Mac that can extract 7zip files and so on.

Problem with the grips on the back is that after a bunch of use the pad glue stops holding the pads in place and they move around and spread a gross sticky-ness all over the back.

Is there a stipulation from Anbernic that everyone who got a review unit has to show Kingdom Hearts? All the reviews I’ve seen make a point of showing how well it runs. Haven’t seen a single review mention FFX tho, which for me, would be the one PS2 game that I would love to play.

Honestly, FFX runs great! I’m using Gamma OS, aethersx2 and am running Vulcan graphics and it runs great with some other basic setting tweaks

there is no dual boot linux android like the rg 353P I would have bought it with my eyes closed!

I don't really care about Linux. I've been setting up emulators on Symbian phones back then. It was far more complicated and less stream lined than android. Some people are just being too spoiled and whiney. I tend to avoid ambernic since they offer roms that I'm not sure is legal. So it's a must for me for everyone to know how manage their own game library.

@@Robtech I didn’t know that, I thought you would need a computer to drag game files/roms to folders to play them…but if you can do all this from the device itself that’s pretty cool 😎
