@@darcykeddell4930 no doubt you are correct about the huge cost of replacing pump and injectors on the Landcruiser, it is truly scary. But the direct injection petrol used in the Patrol is using the same basic technology and therefore I suspect has similarly expensive pump and injectors. The turbos no doubt add to cost for the Landcruiser, as do the DPFs. But then you have to factor in the extra fuel in the Patrol, all of it at least 95 ron. I know a lot of people don't like the interior and that's fair enough. I have a 2021Ti-L. So far I have done an aftermarket Android Auto /Carplay install whilst retaining factory features. Couple of other simple mods include a Carobotor digital Dash available here in Australia from EC off-road and also a LHD style centre dash available from the same. Wood grain can be vinyl wrapped or painted. All this can be done in less than the cost of the LC300. Plenty of upgrades available. I just wish there was enough bolstering in the front seats from factory, I obviously thrash it around the corners. And the steering wheel feels skinny. Both obviously can be resolved by visiting an upholsterer. Again all less than the cost of LC300. So far I am very happy with MY62. And the engine sounds great after centre muffler upgrade from Harrops. Also getting a set of 20 inch wheels from States for highway driving and keeping the 18inch wheels for when I take the family to the beach. Even with all the mods available it still works out cheaper than the cost of a LC300.

What surprises me is considering the Y62 Patrol is still built in Japan (a RHD country), that Nissan decided not to update the interior of the RHD Y62. Is it because we (Australia) are the only RHD market that's still buying the Y62? Or does Nissan think Australian's don't deserve modern technology? Which ever it is, it's a missed opportunity for Nissan to really stick it to Toyota by giving the Y62 a 21st Century interior. Then buyers might actually desire to really buy it, rather than what some buy it for, simply an alternative to the 300 series since they can't get one quick enough.

Extend that 3 years to 5 years and take into account the thousands that will be spent replacing injectors on the common rail diesel cruiser and the savings will swing back to the patrol. Was around an 8 grand job to do it properly using genuine injectors on the 200 series I can't imagine this thing will be any cheaper. Access to the injectors is probably worse and parts more expensive, whereas I know somebody who has owned a y62 since they came out and apart from an early timing chain issue (updated in later models) he hasn't had to replace anything outside of normal servicing. Comprehension isn't your strong suit? The 300 Series is a better vehicle. But to get the same sort of features that are in this Patrol you're paying $20k more for it all. Hence the title: Way better *value* than Landcruiser.
@Alex-lv4ie2 жыл бұрын
@@TheStigHCE09 You're also not getting the same class vehicle nor rarity. That's easily worth the price delta IMO.
@TheStigHCE092 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-lv4ie 🤣🤣 Rarity? I suppose the fact the LC300's got a massive waiting list just sweetens the deal on the Patrol even more, frankly.
@Alex-lv4ie2 жыл бұрын
@@TheStigHCE09 Massive waiting lists give exclusivity, look at the markup on G-wagens and LCs in Russia. Not to mention in some markets, LC300 is not available entirely. For example in US, the LC200 is significantly rarer than an equivalent to Patrol, Armada.
@TheStigHCE092 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-lv4ie None of that makes it worth the giant price premium, nor wait time, for a LandCruiser over a Patrol. Keep trying to justify it though, it's quite entertaining.

@chasingcars2 жыл бұрын
What it has: huge petrol engine, great 4WD system, surprisingly good handling, lotta space. What it doesn't have: plenty of the LC300's mod-cons, fuel efficiency. Then there's the price difference. What matters more to you?

Better than usual because he gave information on the engine and transmission. I have seen videos, by others that talk about irrelevant things like chrome and cup holders and dont even mention the engine and transmission. This vehicle would be so much better with a diesel.

had the money for it, it has been my dream car for years, but gave up on it at the last miniute, beacuse - Nissan dealer in Western Australia is THE SHITTIEST dealers among all brands. Owned a few Nissan, shockingly to learn how bad their dealership network was built. Trying to rip you off every single time even if just for a regular service, simply because NIssan arranged the network in such way if the dealer don`t find a doggy way to make extra money, they can`t servive. They got pissed off when you make a warranty claim. I feel like it is very difficult for dealers to claim labour cost back from Nissan Australia, so they hates it. Not just me, every nissan owner I know has the same feeling. I am in Perth WA, can`t speak for the rest through.

Unfortunately these vehicles are not fuel efficient. I don’t know why Aussies will buy these types of cars, but I understand, as a Aussie that people go camping and 4wding so hopefully newer electric cars can make a good replacement to these older petrol cars
@cohenluxford41712 жыл бұрын
Whilst the fuel economy is shit house, in the long run, you tend to save more against a diesel or come close especially because of the starting price compared to a 200. Yes the diesel is cheaper to run for fuel but they’re more expensive to service, shitty fuel can cost up to $10K for pump and injectors for some diesels and they can happen repeatedly. Was a mechanic for years and servicing/ working on petrols was way more enjoyable and cheaper. Some modern diesel injectors are $1000 per injector and require very expensive tools to reprogram the computer once they let go.
@ameetnarayan92192 жыл бұрын
@@cohenluxford4171 diesel isn't really that cheap at the moment, petrol is though, so in the grand scheme of things, petrol works out slightly cheaper right now when filling up.

You Clearly have no idea about how these vehicles are used in Australia nor the vastness and remoteness of this great land we call home. There is simply NO EV vehicle currently on the market nor in the foreseeable future that can do the job of 4WD vehicles like these. There is simply nowhere to re-charge an BEV.

Modern diesels are pretty shitty high risk engines. I'd have one of these any day. Would be good to enjoy one before we are forced to drive boring electric junk.
