Benzema might be the perfect team playing 9. When needed, took a step back and was the provider (hence why he ended up being Madrid's all time leader in assists), but when needed to be THE GUY, he did not disappoint.

Rooney has a bigger variety to his game (which is why he was able to play midfield and on the wings etc), but as an all round 9, being able to be the provider, the linkup player and the lethal goalscorer in any game and willing you team to win it's Benzema for me, had the perfect balance of both.

Great interview! Just subscribed 👍. What Rooney says about the young Championship players that are potentially good enough should be pushed to go further to a bigger club as it'd help not only them by being coached by the best but also help with the national team too. I do agree that they have to want it themselves. Mentality and confidence plays a massive part in that though!

Malouda is the example of Chelsea's success not working, the way they cycle managers, you go from player of the season contention one year, to forgotten and dropped the next, 2 years later Malouda couldn't even get on the bench and when he eventually moved on he was still just as good.. its similar but not as brutal at City, but Chelsea had a reputation for wasting talent, Malouda got the chances that Salah and De Bruyne never got, bur the next manager came in and the chances where passed on to the next batch of signings, Streets will never forget about Malouda 👐

Rooney was always top 5 and never top 3, that's why his perception is like he is rated when he is, to start your career at top 5 with the likes of Ronaldinho, Henry and Zidane in everyone's mind, and finish as top 5 with Messi and Ronaldo smashing records, Lewandowski, Suarez, Neymar, Aguero, Kane, Ibrahimovic.. the fact Rooney maintained a top 5 level is a credit in itself

Your maths ain't maths, Benzema and Vinicius combined GA doesn't = the equivalent goals, for example of Vini assists Benzema 20 times, then you're counting 20 goals twice, if Benzema assists Vini 10 times, you're counting them twice, that's 30 goals from thin air 😂

Great video guys. I just wanted to say that 102/119 stat from Vini/Benzema is misleading. They had an amazing year but assisted each other in their goals. Use the principles of inclusion and non-inclusion and you will understand. Also, as a Milan fan, Robinho was the actual sidekick to Zlatan in 10/11.

I agree with Rooney. Foden needs to play no.10. Bellingham is doing well at Real Madrid but he's not a number 10, he's basically doing a job as a false 9 for Real Madrid. England have Harry Kane and Foden is arguably the best creator in the no.10 with Maddison. Bellingham should go back to his box to box role with license to get forward and Rice in the 6.
