Very interesting. Really enjoyed it. Flexibility introduced with the help of magnet is amazing. Will take it as input for my next project.

Very cool, i wonder if the balls moving quicker and thereby also smoother, would make it even more mesmerizing and fun to watch in real time - maybe 3x the speed?

You're right! Faster would be a lot more entertaining. Unfortunately, I only had the one fixed speed motor and the hand cut wood gears probably wouldn't run smoothly at high speed. What I'd really like to do is buy a Sisyphus table. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odqYnMx31bTKZGg.html Thanks for commenting!

@@wayneschmidt490 omg these are wood gears... I have a Onefinity cnc I'm getting ready to put together. I would love to give this a shot.

@@zombieno1 "OMG, wood gears," is right. Cutting all those teeth by hand on a scroll saw takes a lot of time. Thanks for the comment!

How did u get the material wat motor did u use
@wayneschmidt490
@wayneschmidt490 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! And thanks for commenting! The material was 3/4 and 1/2-inch thick plywood. The motor was the drive motor for a barbecue rotisserie, $25 from the local hardware store. It turns slowly and has plenty of torque.

@陆放 It was an 18-inch diameter disk of 3/4-inch plywood mounted on a Lazy Susan (or pancake) bearing. www.amazon.com/1000-Lb-Capacity-Hardware-Turntable-Bearings/dp/B071ZD31Z5/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1JKRBB80KF80L&dchild=1&keywords=lazy%2Bsusan%2Bbearing%2B12%2Binch&qid=1594487048&sprefix=lazy%2Bsusan%2Bbearing%2Caps%2C209&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExNU9FQUxCRVFCRFdJJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDQ3NDI5M0RDRDZLUUVHU0dWMyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTA2NDI0MVZORVFYVUZMODlURiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1 The motor was a 6 rpm gear motor from a barbecue rotisserie. Thank you your interest in my little contraption. Since this video, I've made an improved version, which you can see here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/edlleth3qtC-eZs.html The video explains pretty much everything you need to know to make it. One mistake is that early in the video I state that the base is made of 1/4-inch plywood. I should have said "1/2-inch plywood." Watch the video and ask any specific questions you want to clarify its construction and I will be happy to answer them. Thanks for commenting!

A sisyphus machine

It's the same idea, but mine is driven purely mechanically whereas the Sisyphus machine is driven be a computer and is capable of producing many more designs. Thanks for the comment!

I prefer 220 grit white aluminum oxide powder. The following video shows an improved version of the mesmergraph: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/edlleth3qtC-eZs.html I get it from www.Panadyne.com. Thanks for the comment!

Sorry about the lighting. The problem was that to show the detail in the patterns, I had to use only side lighting to catch the tops of the channels and throw the valleys into shadow. Had I used brighter, overhead lighting the white peaks against white valleys would have been hard to see. Thanks for the comment!
