Hi! And thanks for commenting! The material was 3/4 and 1/2-inch thick plywood. The motor was the drive motor for a barbecue rotisserie, $25 from the local hardware store. It turns slowly and has plenty of torque.

One mistake is that early in the video I state that the base is made of 1/4-inch plywood. I should have said "1/2-inch plywood." It's the same idea, but mine is driven purely mechanically whereas the Sisyphus machine is driven be a computer and is capable of producing many more designs. Thanks for the comment!

Sorry about the lighting. The problem was that to show the detail in the patterns, I had to use only side lighting to catch the tops of the channels and throw the valleys into shadow. Had I used brighter, overhead lighting the white peaks against white valleys would have been hard to see. Thanks for the comment!
