I just want to let you know what an inspiration you are to me. Whilst I live in Texas and strive to create more of a southwestern/ western vibe in my home, I also try to create a more cosmopolitan look in my home so that it's not all "leather and cow hides". In fact, I have Emma Bridgewater mugs because of you, lovely candlesticks on my table (and fresh flowers that are looking a bit sad by now) and perhaps I am or am not looking for a cow pitcher... so many other ideas that I use-- including trying out your recipes and movie suggestions. I guess what I enjoy the most is the care, thought, and time you put into your decisions. Like you, I enjoy having the things I love and treasure around me and I'd rather they were what I REALLY enjoy and not just a passing fad. I do appreciate that you allow us to vicariously share in your days and home. Thank you so much. YOu are even more appreciated as I'm still staying rather close to home yet. You are a friend across the Atlantic with whom I enjoy catching up.

When I watch those kind of movies, I get myself so immersed in it because I would have loved to live in an English manor house and live a grand life. Downtown Abbey was my all time favorite, and just hearing the music of it brings me to tears. I can relate to your love of decorating. The whole process from dreaming to hunting for the right pieces and the work of painting walls etc. I was challenged, because I have a family of 5 (all adults still living at home with us). I started with a small budget, then I got some unexpected money. I did have to tone down my dream for the redecoration of our family room to accommodate everyone. So I stayed mostly with traditional and a little transitional style. In the end I am happy with it and so is my family. But some day I will get to decorate that with the English traditional style chintz and all! I can’t attach a picture but I chose two large couches cream in color, the floor is a dark brown wood laminate, the coffee table and side tables are dark wood and the area rug is a wool cream background with yellow-gold, green and some splashes of burgundy in a traditional pattern with a matching runner. I wanted green and lavender but could not find it in my price range. Then we have two tripod floor lamps at one end, near the couches and two wing back chairs. On the opposite wall my husband built a fireplace at the other end centered with two cushioned bench nooks on either side. I love the symmetry. Symmetry tells my mind things are in their place and complete; it’s like a reassuring feeling and it feels right. On the side tables I bought two matching lamps, that have not arrived yet, that are black with a white squarish shade. The lamp base crosses (I like the symbolism representing Christ and what he gave to us through his suffering). I chose cream pillows because it’s very calming on the cream couches and except for the carpet there is a lot of cream, cream walls and coffee table has a cream table cloth. It’s a calm room with touches of oriental designs. The walls have pictures of birds, flowers and bending trees. I have a grouping of three small sunburst mirrors on the wall near the door. I just added an accent table, which I use as a coffee bar. I have enjoyed watching, and will continue to watch, your channel. I love your style and choices very much. Thanks for bringing your ideas to all of us that enjoy your channel.

I remember going to my Great Grandmother's house as a young child..always loved to look in Her special cabinet filled with beautiful Tea cups ..but we had to go outside and play ...years later I started collecting my Old beautiful Tea cups and plates and now have so many like the ones she had... I love to use them every day ...and especially when Friends pop over for a Cup of Tea and a "chinwag" filled with laughter ... I am sure the Tea cups make the Tea taste even better.... You are so right with what you said about precious china and our parents and grandparents. I did the same thing and kept it for Sundays. But then I thought, why not use it more regularly...it is so pleasent to be surrounded by some beauty to start the day! I drink my tea in a very old flower sprinkled cup from the 1850's and it didn't break ever since I started doing so. You are very gifted with decoration and your house is truly beautiful. And it can be easy to bring some joy inside with fresh flowers, I try to arrange some the whole year round, just now it's fresh ones from the garden and twigs from the cherry tree.
