One of my favorite MC's from back in the day. Cold Crush Brothers, Treacherous 3, Busy Bee was the number 1 crowd pleaser. I remember 1981 like it was yesterday. The battle between Kool Moe Dee and Busy Bee was probably the best in history, Kool Moe Dee was the first to invent snap rhyming. " Hold on Busy Bee i don't mean to be bold, put that ba Didi ba bull you no what on hold". "Harlem World".

Busy Bee wasn't even there when Kool Moe Dee was rapping on that tape that is still floating around on KZfaq. Moe Dee attached his lyrics to the mixtape that Busy Bee had already rapped on, and edited to his fancy. That's a real Hip-Hop Story that you had to have been there to know all that with the real story.

So do I. That shit is a hard listen. Lol For years I only have the Busy Bee/Moe Dee portion. But when I finally heard the whole contest and the “battle” in context I was almost shocked at how bad it was. I then understood why Busy Bee always won and then even more why Moe Dee dissed him.

I don't really see how people say Busy Bee lost a battle when he is a party type rapper. Kool Moe Dee was able to come in on a sneak attack and do this with personal lyrics.

+thekid26000 I see what you're saying. However, the reason we have to give it (he actually took it) to Kool Moe Dee is because was able to sway the same type of crowds that were constantly giving it to Busy Bee. We can't just say Busy Bee was just a party rapper (Caz called him an MC) because he actually was winning those contest inside of clubs. I'll use an analogy that may perplex some, but since battling is a competition, there are times you may have to change your strategy to whip your opponents. That's what Kool Moe Dee did.

it was a M.C. convention even in those late 70s early 80 you had to be prepared for anything if you were a real M.C. That meant a battle or just good fun. you dealt with the crowd hecklers and people. so you had to stay prepared!!!! the true M.C. just didn't start 10 years ago it started long ago you always had battle rhymes in your arsenal!!!
