We were former annual pass holders who drove 8 hours to Disneyland four to five times per year. After the price increases, we don't attend any Disney parks. I had read Disney intentionally targeted families making over $150k per year, because they spend the most in the parks regardless of the prices. Disney management sucks. Replace everyone from Iger down who have made these horrible decisions for the company. We're now boycotting Disney in protest.
@KirkFickert

They stated a few years ago they want rich coastals and foreigners willing to spend $20,000 for a vacation. Screw the family of 4 on the Midwest that can go once or twice in their kids lifetime and only can afford to drop $5000. It’s interesting that Disney is one of the few companies that ask net worth as a survey question. We’re in their target demographic as far as income and wealth goes but only thing we might spend that much on would be a cruise to the South Pacific or Australia/NZ. But on a Disney Cruise (or any cruise that’s not Alaska) we go for a basic porthole room. For an Alaska cruise we will spring for a room with balcony.

@@KirkFickertwe hit their income demographic this year because I’ve been working a TON of overtime. We choose to do a cruisetour to Alaska with Princess, Disney wasn’t even on our radar when picking a ship. We could “afford” a trip to Disney but I can’t justify the value of the cost, it’s no longer there. I’m also in MA so our cost of living is high so $150k is still just scraping by. 😑 the kids will probably not get a Disney experience to remember from childhood. They have gone to Universal a bunch and love going. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (since they offer a affordable seasonal pass to out of state families it makes it easier to justify coming back a couple times a year)

I live 20 minutes from Disneyland park... with the way annual passes currently function, it isn't worth going, even if it was my favorite weekend hangout.
@jamesbrown3239
@jamesbrown3239 7 ай бұрын
Agreed. I used to have annual passes and the real “luxury” of an annual pass was going in the morning, then leaving and coming back in the evening then enjoying your day / night at Disneyland in leisure. And I fit their demographic for income. But I refuse to go at this point as it’s not a value. Why would I? I can literally do a cruise or go to Japan or UK / EU or Australia and the family would have a much better experience. And a cruise is hands down a better value for half the price. Now, the real danger to Disney is that they do not understand their product. Disney’s sole product is not “content”. They seem to think so, but it’s really “nostalgia” and they have fundamentally fucked it up. For decades and decades, Disney had been super profitable because one generation would indoctrinate their children on Disney. They’d build lasting memories via films, and merch and then they’d solidify those memories at the parks. And that would become multi generational. (Parent kids and grandkids ect). They’ve broken that chain by at least one generation and possibly three now (many older adults refuse to take their grandchildren now due to Disneys recent decisions). Now toss in higher prices and the excuse to bypass Disney just makes more sense. But it’s really dangerous to their future consumer base which is shrinking quickly. Without nostalgia to drive sales to their parks, who is going to want to pay this premium just to sit through lines at a theme park?

In 2018 I took my family of 3 to Disney World for four days - three in the parks. In 2023 I took my family of 3 to Universal Orlando for five days, four in the parks. My second trip was less expensive, included a full extra day, and five years of inflation! The value is not even close - Disney does not want middle class families in their parks.

There is a whole new paradigm emerging. The middle class is becoming the lower class. The rich live in a different world. There are plenty of Big Pharma executives, Google programmers, and Raytheon missile salesmen who buy $300 hair scrunchies and $2500 distressed jeans at Saks and they don't even know how much Disneyland costs, they just go.

That's the stupidity, if you price out and become a luxury brand then not only does the customer base shrink but the people who work for you look at you as an evil corporation and at some point will leave. It doesn't matter if they outprice the consumer because that means someone will make it affordable to the consumer. It's competition. If companies luke disney can be evil and out price consumer then be it we will not give them business they will survive maybe for 100 years more but the tarnish on the reputation will remain.

I have been greatly disappointed that I can't share the Disney Parks I grew up with, with my son. The major driving force behind the weird attendance at Disney parks is the adult Disney fans who don't have kids but do have a lot of money. I know so many people who don't have kids and constantly go to Disney parks. (I suspect that going to Disney parks is a substitute for them not having kids and it's way cheaper to constantly go to overpriced Disney parks than to have kids.) Parks like Knott's Berry Farm are a much better family experience and much more reasonably priced.

Corporate disney doesn't care about the guests, unless their the "whales". From Golden Oaks, to what else they're building, more over priced DVC locations, "exclusive access" places etc. This is exactly the opposite of what Walt and Roy wanted and built. Especially WDW. DL was the experiment. After it showed what it could be, he found a place to expand upon what had been learned. These people hate Walt. So they do everything they can to destroy what he built. Thinking that THEY know better than an outright genius like Walt. Was Walt perfect, of course not, but NONE of these people come close to his talent and vision, which they can't stand. In the 80's I used to go to DL and it was easy. Later when I had my daughter I could scrounge a few hundred bucks together, drive down there, spend 4 days and drive back. But our last visit was a nightmare of over a years saving, and planning, trying to make reservations, and more. It's no fun anymore. Your spend ALL your time on your phone trying to get your next thing done, hitting up for either a meal or a ride or activity. All the while draining you battery, so that you need a power bank now to attend the park. WDW is WAY worse. We went in 2015 and it was decent, but still expensive. But we were able to do things, magical express was there, fast pass, and we ate in all the places we wanted that were affordable. When we went back for the 50th, it was horrible, MORE expensive for less time there (2015 was 10 days, 50th was 6 days) by a LOT. even counting that we upgraded the room for the last 3 days it still was way more, with all the nickel and dime add-ons that if you don't use , you don't get to do much. That is where they get you. They say Genie+ is "free", but that version doesn't do much. You'll be lucky if you get in 4 major things all day. But with all the blind pixie dusters who say corporate disney can do no wrong or excuse anything they do wrong, corporate disney counts on them to fill in the gaps that the whales that they really want and cater to don't cover. Iger has NO vision, he's an ABC TV exec. He needs to go back there. Split off ABC from Disney, let Iger go over there and run them into the ground with his woke/PC/SJW/DEI/ESG ideology over there.

Each generational customer base that remains are exponentially smaller and the birth rate of future customers continues to decline past replacement levels. ⌛️😎no kids means no toys, no movie audiences, no cruise patrons, no park necessary. And all their real estate …just waiting to be devoured..I mean developed.😏😉😂🏦

The pricing is bad, of course. But the reason I will never go the Disney again is that their values and beliefs have changed so radically that, for me, it would be like supporting Joe Biden for president. I just can't do it.

When a theme park charges $80 for bedazzled mouse ears and $50-$70 for a measly morsel of a lunch plate, of course the majority of people are going to rethink where to spend their time! 🤣

Disney has become too materialistic and needs to pivot back. The KZfaqrs never talk about personal experiences just selling merch that walk around the parks eating. That’s because the entire experience has become depersonalized.

Disney should forget about catering to families, that can no longer afford their parks, and that a lot of parents are not comfortable with shows pushing the "not so secret agenda" on their kids, and just flat out focus on appealing to members of the LGBT+ community. Especially that Gays are often time more affluent than people struggling to keep up with supporting their children financially during these inflationary times. They might as well just go out of their way to be fabulous.
@stanfordite1
@stanfordite1 7 ай бұрын
No they shouldn't. And when I take over Disney will be catering only to its purists including those that went during Walt's lifetime and their descendants. The parks will be treated as private clubs for members only where not all are welcome.

We stayed at Art of Animation not long ago. Disney has drink cups fitted with technology where you can only refill drinks several times per hour. If you try to fill before the time has passed you are unable to refill.

The Disney Parks are the most segregated place in America. Iger goes on and on about DEI and diversity, but few minorities in America can afford to go to these parks.

We just went to Universal and l have to say we felt this way as well there. I have never been to Disney . But at Universal my two sons paid $460 for 1 ticket and fast pass. They tried to charge me $1800 for 4 tickets and 4 fast passes. They put the fast pass in and l told them to take it off. It still was like $720 + so we decided this will be the last time and we WILL NOT return!!!! So totally for 6 (2 fast passes), parking etc... it was $1600. Very disappointed in what they did and they have lost us

I live 5 minutes from Walt Disney World and have been a top tier passholder for almost 20 years. I doubt I will renew this year. It's not that I can't afford their inflated prices, but there is NO value for what they expect guests to pay. Universal and SeaWorld will continue to see me come through their gates.

They are trying to make up this imaginary costumer base that isn't real. Then complain to their costumers that they aren't meeting their expectations. Nobody is trying to watch their garbage. People got other things to spend their hard earned money on that will provide equal to greater value.

Look forward to you dusting this video off this time next year and compare attendance figures. Wonder what Universal will be charging for it's new park? BTW, watch the Cedar Fair/Six Flaggs merger. They have resorts near their parks, watch them create regional Disney vacations, which reduces the frequency people go to Disney world or just skip it all together.
